  1. Maybe the reason why the butlers want to escort you everywhere is so you don't bang into the walls....ðŸĪĢ 🚑
  2. We sail in about six weeks. Can I request from the pre-cruise concierge that the bar in the refrigerator is empty on our arrival? We never use an in-room bar on ships or in hotels.
  3. Well, yes, in fact you did. I don't want to get into a pi^^*ng match over this, but what you said to @omahabob was: "still felt the need to chime in on a topic....It would be nice if those who do could discuss specifics without the naysayers." I'm thinking that was exactly what you were writing. You may wish to re-read what you wrote. If I offended you with my response to your comments, I am truly sorry to hear you took offense. Please enjoy your participation of Cruise Critic, it is a great platform for exchanges of ideas and suggestions. ☚ïļ
  4. @Reese15233 - If you look at the thread again, what @omahabob was doing was to let someone else know which airline is good for Hawaii. @omahabob responded that he likes Delta. Less than an hour later, @omahabob clarified that he doesn't use NCL Air to secure his Delta flights to Hawaii. I didn't see any of his posts as being a naysayer, but even if he was being a naysayer his opinion is just as valid as anyone else's and nobody has the right to say he cannot post on any thread as long as it is within the community guidelines. This thread is not an "NCL Air Cheerleaders Only" thread. Also, your concerns were about international flights and last time I checked, Pittsburgh to Hawaii isn't an international flight, so were your concerns of the appropriateness of @omahabob posts really warranted anyway?
  5. On my last cruise, I bought a new power strip on Amazon, I printed a copy of the item description where it clearly says there was no surge suppressor and that it was designed for use on cruise ships. I put both the power strip and the printed description in a clear baggy and put it in my checked luggage. I figured that if they found it in my luggage, the description was self-explanatory and would clear up any questions they might have in my absence. I didn't have a problem.
  6. Our flights next month include one checked bag and one carryon per person. It depends on which airline ends up being booked. Some airlines don't include any baggage and others permit one or two. When you get your air confirmation from NCL Air, contact the airline(s) to book your seats (NCL doesn't book your seats), then check your booking for baggage information. DW & I always plan to stay one night post cruise even if we book our own flights directly with an airline. It makes for a much less stressful trip home. People we met on our last cruise, ended up having to pay for a night in our hotel due to their flight being delayed thereby missing their next connection. It made for a stressful situation all the way around. (There's no guarantee this wouldn't happen the day after you disembark though...)
  7. Yes, I have that coming up next month.
  8. Understood. I have only posted what I am actually experiencing. As I wrote earlier, if it were just me and not two nervous flyers travelling with me, I would probably think NCL Air a good deal all the way around. It may not be the best option for other people who want better control over their air bookings.
  9. I am hoping that your statement about 'bagging' on NCL Air wasn't directed to me or my posts. Most of us use cruise critic to learn about others actual experiences (both the good and the bad) and learn about some good tips for getting the most out of our cruising experiences. In my posts on this thread, I have only put out the facts of what I am currently experiencing using NCL Air. As a matter of fact, I even took care to place my concerns directly on the air carriers, not NCL Air. I am 'bagging' on airlines that send you a written confirmation and then renege after getting some additional money, but that's really a different discussion for another day. I truly wish that the fact patterns of this air booking process were different, but it isn't and as Joe Friday says:
  10. No, we booked a one day deviation post cruise. We leave Rome at about 1:30 PM and arrive in NY at 8PM ET after a layover in Montreal. The good thing about this itinerary is that we clear U.S. CBP in Montreal and not at JFK in NYC.
  11. If it helps, we are flying into Rome with a two-day pre-cruise deviation. Our cruise sails on the 3rd of the month, and we are scheduled to fly out using NCL BOGO on the evening of the 31st and will arrive in Rome in the afternoon of the 1st. So, for us it looks like the two days is actually 1 1/2 days. That first 1/2 day on the 1st, is going to be our jetlag recovery day. Hopefully our internal clocks will have reset in time for our boarding at Civitavecchia on the 3rd.

  13. I was led to believe that you only get one laundry bag for a fixed price in mid cruise, after that, you pay by the item. Am I misinformed? If you can always get your laundry done for $30/bag, then it is probably worth it. On our last cruise on a different line, we had unlimited laundry and sent it all out in the last two days, so I understand the benefit.
  14. If it was just me personally, I wouldn't really care, and I'd consider the cruise line air programs as long as they were cost effective. After a few Bloody Mary's on the flight, I really don't care where I sit on the plane. ðŸĪŠ Travelling with a DW who is moderately fearful of flying and a DS who can feel severely claustrophobic I need to pay more attention to seating types and locations.
  15. Ouch!!! It's one thing if you have an unlimited laundry plan, but it seems pretty cost ineffective to pay the cruise line per item to do laundry you could do at home at a fraction of the cost.
  16. I have no doubt they will likely get you there, I'm more unhappy with the airlines switching me and not notifying me when I booked the seats directly with them. They seem to want to put everything onto NCL Air who doesn't really want the responsibility, thus putting us into a Catch 22 situation.
  17. I found the answer to the above question after I double checked my seat assignments directly with the airlines. Iceland Air changed our seats after I paid for specific seat assignments. (That would have been the first duplicate NCL Air Confirmation.) Then, this week, Air Canada moved our preferred seats even though we paid upcharges and received written confirmation from Air Canada for the seats we wanted. (That would have been what triggered the third duplicate NCL Air Confirmation.) The NCL Air Confirmations were all the same and merely appeared to just be duplicate notifications. I would never have known about the airlines changing the seating if I didn't contact both airlines directly. The airlines probably notified NCL Air of the changes and NCL Air merely sent out duplicate confirmations rather than notifying me that there had been changes made to my bookings. The moral of the story is that if you get duplicate air confirmations from NCL Air, contact your airline directly to find out about any significant changes. NCL Air isn't going to tell you about it.
  18. @Sthrngary - Now I am finding out why you don't use NCL Air. I got my air confirmations for my upcoming cruise, and I immediately booked and upgraded our seats directly with the airlines. Now, I have discovered that despite written confirmations from both airlines, they have relocated our seats to all middle seats in the four across section in the middle of the aircraft. We had 3 adjoining seats confirmed with one window, a middle, and an aisle seat. When I called Air Canada, they said I have to go through NCL Air, but NCL Air says all seat assignments are done directly with the airline. Catch 22 Airlines!! This is the last time I book air through the cruise line. Lesson learned. ðŸĪŽ
  19. I'm in Northern Westchester. Just drove home from the Catskills on Saturday and went past the reservoir and crossed Esopus Creek. Good thing we decided to not spend an extra day in the Catskills. 😉
  20. Three of us are flying from NYC to Rome next month. On June 30, we got our Air Confirmation from NCL Air. Icelandair JFK to Iceland, Iceland to FCO and return Air Canada FCO to Montreal and Montreal to JFK. I immediately picked out our seats and made arrangements for our ground transportation at both ends. Then on July 5 NCL sends out another Air Confirmation with the same flight information. Now, today NCL Air has send out a third Air Confirmation with the same flight information. Each time I get another confirmation, my heart goes into my throat thinking they've made some flight changes and I'll need to rebook seats, transportation etc... So, I then need to compare the documents line by line to make sure nothing has changed. Does anyone know why NCL Air keeps sending out the same information? TIA
  21. I hope you made out OK with the Flooding. I can imagine what the Esopus looks like today. Stay safe.
  22. Thanks for all of the responses. I'll keep the 'grease' in my pocket. ðŸĪ‘ If there's enough room, I may just take one of the dining chairs out to the balcony when and if needed.
  23. We will have three adults in a 2BR Family Villa on the Breakaway. Do you think we can 'grease' either the cabin steward or butler to provide one more balcony chair? Is this something I can request from the pre-cruise concierge without needing to 'grease' anybody?
  24. I had a Haven 2BR Family Villa booked on the Epic years ago. At the last minute, I got switched into a forward facing Haven Penthouse with an enclosed balcony. It stunk! The 'penthouse' was smaller than the standard non-haven balcony we had originally booked and all you had in the balcony was a small window you could open which was about the size of a bathroom mirror. The only way to get a breeze through it was to prop open the main cabin door which created a strong 'wind tunnel', so it was either feast or famine for a cooling breeze on your faux 'enclosed balcony.' The bathroom only had a curtain to pull over, so there was absolutely no privacy at all when using the toilet. We would have been better off without the Haven benefits just to have a normal balcony and a door for the toilet in the original balcony cabin down below. The Haven perks were marvelous! But the cabin was the worst we have ever experienced. It was the closest thing to an inside we ever had.👎👎👎👎👎
