  1. I'll be leaving from and returning to NYC. I just don't want to board a plane at JFK or Newark only to fly to St. Louis or Dallas and then on to Rome. I would imagine nonstop flights would be more economical for NCL than multi leg flights, but I don't fly much internationally.
  2. Generally, some rules are absolute, and some rules are merely tools to fix problems when they occur. The 16 and over rule is most likely the latter. No crying or misbehaving children annoying the peace and quiet of the adult only area would be permitted to remain. I'd imagine if one tried to bring an infant or toddler there it would probably be stopped by ship staff. This rule is much like the lido reserved loungers' rules. Only enforced when it becomes an issue, otherwise it's Laissez-faire. That said, all it would take is one person to request enforcement of the rule. I hope it works out for you.
  3. Does anybody have experience flying to Rome from NYC via NCL Air? Is that generally a non-stop flight? Is there a particular airline typically used?
  4. I have two specialty dining credits each for myself & DW. When looking at menus for the Breakaway, I see that some Specialty Restaurants show as "a la carte" and others as "cover charge applies." How do the complementary dining credits work for each type of restaurant? TIA
  5. Can I customize my flights and forfeit the air promotion? For guests who prefer customized air arrangements such as specific airline carriers, routing, upgrades, or adding a specific layover, please contact our Air Department at 1-866-625-1163 to request a quote. Customization is only available up to 75 days prior to sailing and is not combinable with any air promotion offered. Once tickets are issued, flights cannot be customized. I think this is not applicable to the BOGO promotions, but I could be wrong. Link here: Norwegian's Flight Booking Service | Norwegian Cruise Line (ncl.com)
  6. I am 77 days out from my cruise, but I have a 2-day pre-cruise deviation. I see on an NCL webpage that you can request upgrades before 75 days by calling the air department. Is this still the case, or is this outdated information? I have read statements on CC before where people have written that you need to wait until the tickets are booked and then need to deal directly with the airline for any upgrades. Plus, do we find out what our air arrangements are at the 75 day mark? Also is the 75 days pre air travel or pre cruise dates? TIA
  7. Thanks for putting out some numbers. I have one question though. I am assuming that you make good use out of your butler. I don't see us using the butler very much except maybe once or twice a day for afternoon snacks, but other than that, we prefer to unpack our own luggage and we are generally self sufficient. Does that information affect your butler tip formula?
  8. My itinerary doesn't show any water shuttles. My itinerary has 8 ports, it doesn't show anything about the ports other than the times. Does this mean all of my ports will be at a pier? Thank you for responding to my question.
  9. How can I determine which ports on my future itinerary are tender ports? That information would be useful in deciding whether or not to book a Princess excursion rather than go private. TIA
  10. Do I need to insure my refundable excursions made through the cruise line?
  11. Without wanting to contribute to a thread drift, my tipping starts with finding the bar I am most likely to frequent and give a very nice tip to the bartender assigned to that bar. (This usually gets me past needing to wait to get the bartenders attention at a busy time and also gets me past some of the restrictions of a beverage package.) Everyone else who gets tipped gets it on the last night of the cruise as I want the service provider to want to earn a good tip. (If my advance tip isn't as good as some other cabins, it may drop me down in their list of priorities - I don't want that to happen as it would then be too late to make a change.) I tip what the service was worth to me. If I hardly use the butler or concierge, I don't see any reason to tip them as much as my steward. JMHO
  12. Thanks for the response. I have learned a long time ago that a good tip to a bartender on the first day can get unopened bottles of beer at request. Oh well.... I guess I'll just have to lug all that beer back to my stateroom. 😄 🍺
  13. If I have the beverage package and ask the butler to stock drinks in the room, is that covered under the beverage package?
  14. At least you got an honest answer from NCL. I keep being told I am waitlisted for pre, and post cruise hotel stays in Rome. They certainly added to my stress level by not just telling me that I'll need to book hotels by myself as they aren't offering any. For me, one of the most important characteristics of a cruise line is their reliability. After this whole Rome hotel waitlist misrepresentation, NCL is not getting a passing grade for reliability. I have to admit that it makes me wonder what else have they misrepresented to me... My cruise has already had three itinerary changes, each time we either lose a port or amount of time in ports. Now, I'm wondering what shoe is going to drop next before my cruise.
  15. Thank you for your response. I am wondering if you can send out full bags of laundry for one price or do you need to pay by the item (with the exception of the one time offer mid cruise.) How many bags do we get for the mid cruise offer, one per stateroom or is it one per occupant? Thank you again.
  16. I have a question about laundry service in the Haven. We are in a 2 BR Family Villa on a ten-day sailing. Do we get any free laundry bags? How often do they offer laundry bags and how many (one for each person or one for the while villa?)
  17. I have used it when in the casino or on one of the main decks to contact our butler to have drinks and snacks delivered to our room before we returned. The phone had our butler on speed dial.
  18. Please let us know if that hotel has shuttles to and from airport and cruise ship.
  19. Has anybody been able to book this hotel through NCL recently? Last October, I was told on the phone that I was booked for one night here for September 13, 2023, but I was waitlisted for September 1 & 2. In following up to make sure all was set, I was now told by NCL that I am only waitlisted for both the pre and post cruise dates. I wonder if NCL dropped their contract without replacing a hotel, but I could be wrong about that. Thus, the reason for my question. 🤷‍♂️
  20. I am having trouble getting confirmation of pre and post cruise hotel bookings in Rome. They keep telling me I am waitlisted, and I am now about 90 days out. Is this something the concierge can help with?
  21. I have a semi-related question. I am booked for a NCL cruise out of Rome (Civitavecchia) in early September. I'm now 88 days away from embarkation. My booking package includes NCL air and I have requested a two-day pre-cruise deviation and a one-day post cruise deviation and hotels with NCL. When I requested the deviations, I was told that I was being waitlisted for the two-day pre-cruise hotel but I was booked for the one-day post-cruise at the Hotel Piram. Now, I am hearing from NCL that I won't get written confirmations until they actually have my rooms booked with the hotel and I only have 13 more days to get the booking. I am also using a travel agency, but they had advised me that I needed to book the hotels directly with NCL, but I'm now hearing from NCL that I have to go through my TA. Does anybody actually have experience with this? I really don't want to have to pack a tent to stay in Rome before and after my cruise...😵 I am feeling like NCL is hanging us out to dry. The main reason I want the NCL hotel bookings is that I want the transfers to the hotel and the ship and back.
  22. I had to write to CRUISEDOCS@ncl.com requesting that they merge the duplicate Latitudes account for DW. It was done in one or two days.
