  1. Hope this helps!

    Hi,

We are cruising next year on the Symphony , 1st time cruise ever.

I purchased the deluxe package for myself, I am now interested in the refreshment package for my wife, kids and parents in law who are coming with us.

    I have several questions:

    1. Water - Can we take water out from the ship on port days? Yes

    2. Coffee- Which coffee is free and where can it be taken? is Espresso free or only in the refreshment package? if it costs, then for sure, my parents in law would cover the package costs only from cofee:)e

Regular coffee in the Windjammer, MDR, and other venues is included as part of the cruise. Espresso type drinks are extra but included in the refreshment package, with the exception of Starbucks.

    3. Cola and other sodas - is it only in a souvenir cap or can we take a can as well? It includes fountain soda.

    4. Fruit juices -is it only Orange in the morning or can be other fruits throughout the day? It includes all fruit juices available on the ship.

    5. Is it possible to ask for fruit shakes/smoothies or it is not part of the package? Yes, these are included again with the exception of Starbucks and protein shakes in the gym cafe.

Sorry for all the questions but couldnt find any details in the RC site...

    Thanks,

    Yuval

  3. The setsail pass now requires a picture to be uploaded to it, first thing. It says "upload a security photo to expedite the boarding process and help secure your safety on board". I did this not too easily, but did finally get it done. I will be smarter the next time. Neither my photo or my husband's meets all the requirements they list, but they took it. I clicked on the tutorial so see what it said, but there was no tutorial and it said to call them.

The Arrival Appointment time had a list of times, the first was 11:30 - 12:00 PM when I did it. My brother was able to select 11:00 to 11:30 when he did it earlier. I selected the first time. It is printed on the setsail pass at the top. The photo is not printed.

The setsail pass has two columns. The first column shows information on what you need to board and the second column has the arrival appointment, name and cruise information. It has a barcode at the bottom. Both my husband and I have a separate setsail pass.

I wonder if they will enforce the arrival times. What is the purpose, otherwise? They always e-mailed a time to board, but we boarded earlier. This is different in that you have to select an available time.

I wonder if they will take our picture, or if the photo we had to provide will be the one they use.

We are on the Harmony of the Seas sailing for Jan. 27, 2018. I never had any problem when boarding either of the other two big ships we have been on. RCI had boarding that many people figured out. I wonder why the need for the arrival time.

I did a search for a prior thread, but did not find one I thought was like this one.

On HOS, it becomes your security photo.

Do ships have "mystery guests" to find out if crew members forget about that? (If so' date=' where can I apply for the job? :))

    [/quote]

Yes, mystery shoppers exist for cruises but I would not call it a vacation. It is about 4-6 hrs worth of work every day writing up all the reports. You also are out of pocket for expenses until your reports are approved and payment is usually 60 days out. It requires a tremendous amount of attention to detail and a decent memory.

You also typically start doing fast food shops for little pay for years before you get access to the good assignments. You can Google hospitality mystery shopping :D

I have been mystery shopping for years and do a fair amount of travel shops each year. I still prefer to cruise for fun, much more enjoyable!

  5. Glad you enjoyed the chocolates. Thanks for the compliment on Hunter. We try to teach him to be respectable and responsible young man.

Hope to see you two on oasis in Oct 2018.

Can you send me an email at kwokfrank at Yahoo dot com? I did not get your email address.

Have a great time next week on oasis and have a happy thanksgiving.

    Frank,

Yes, Hunter was incredibly well behaved when we met your family a few weeks ago. We look forward to sailing with you next Oct. Have a fantastic Thanksgiving.

Meeting your family was one of our highlights of the week. We enjoyed your company.

    :D

  6. After 33 cruises we've been upgraded from a balcony cabin to a Superior Grand Suite on our Ovation of the Seas cruise next week:D. Can anyone answer the following questions:-

    1. What's the exclusive suite restaurant, Coastal Kitchen on deck 14 like?

    2. Is the Concierge Club on deck 12 aft, the same as the Concierge Lounge? Do they enforce the rule of consuming beverages in the lounge only?

    3. Does the new room service charge apply to suites?

    4. Can hors d'oeuves be ordered to the suite in the afternoon?

Thanks very much - so excited!

    Room Service is free.

You can order whatever you like from the menu for appetizers.

CK has apps nightly and most concierges don't care if you leave the lounge w food or drinks.

  7. Wondering how generous the wine pours are on Royal Caribbean? Trying to figure out if it is any cheaper to buy a bottle of wine. The cheapest bottle of pinot noir is $56 (pre-paid before cruise).

Also, they are offering a 375 ml bottle of vodka and 4 sprites for $44. Is that cheaper than if I was to just buy drinks?

Glasses of wine are 8 oz pours.

Vodka is typically $12 a drink.
