  1. Hi friends,

I'm sure this has been posted a few times already but I'm gonna have to ask again sorry.:o

My husband and I recently started following a whole food plant based diet or vegan diet. We took our first vacation as vegans a few weeks ago and the resort we went to was amazing in trying to accommodate us but there were still many issues. Even though there was issues we couldn't help but wonder if Royal Caribbean would be so accommodating.

I would love any and all advice on this topic. Also if you have cruised on Royal as a vegan I would like to know your experience and any advice you may have.

What kind of rules are there regarding bringing your own food on the ship (something my husband and I decided was necessary due to lack of vegan food options)?

Thank you for all your input.

(Please understand I'm only interested in vegan options. Not trying to be rude but we have encountered a lot of people that don't understand the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Big difference between the two, plus I know the ship has plenty of vegetarian options.)

Tons of vegan options on board, you can also email the special needs desk ahead of time. Items on menus are identified and there are at least one entree option each day in MDR. Wimdjammer too has options. You should have no problem finding more than enough to eat on board and its delicious!!

  2. When I booked my cruise there was no mention of a Flush package. Those of us who booked early should not have to pay, even if I am only a lowly Diamond.

I just know someone here will tell me that if I check the cruise contract on page 16 paragraph 5 it states that the cruiseline reserves the right to add on a Flushing surcharge but really, who reads that??

I was going to cancel my cruise and go elsewhere but it appears that NCL, Princess and Carnival are imposing their own Flushing surcharges.

I remember the good old days of cruising, when the TP was abundant and flushing was free.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

My purchase yielded not only the flushing surcharge but an 18% gratuity too, what gives? As a D+, I should be able to have this removed, right?:D

  3. Diet Coke with Lime is my favorite soft drink, along with Canfields Diet Chocolate Fudge. Thankfully, both are still available in our supermarkets

Good stuff. My favorite is the Diet Chocolate Cherry Soda. Years ago, I had a frozen fudge recipe for it through Weight Watchers and it was like a fudgecicle. Haven't seen this in our stores in Georgia in a few years :(

  4. We really enjoyed Park Cafe when we went on Oasis in 2014. It will be our first time on Allure, but if the food at their park cafe is comparable I am sure we will frequent it often.

I am mainly asking about places with fees, because we are considering getting the ultimate dining package and trying to calculate value.

In our experience, it was identical. The salad bar and beef sandwiches were our favorites on both ships.

  5. Perfect, that sounds exactly the flexibility I am after. Did you have any troubles with restaurants being booked out? Surely they must keep a certain amount of tables for dining package.

    Aussie Cruiser

We did not, the only night we moved was Chops as it was full on formal night at the time we wanted.

  6. Is this an option? Is there a way I can find out of if my favorite waiter is on the ship for my upcoming trip? We said on Jewel this last January and we will be going again next February. We really liked our waiter a lot and would love to have him again.

Yes, you can. Simply go to the main dining room and ask the dining manager or person at the desk to verify where your waiter is working and see if they can accommodate you.

We have a favorite from our first cruise on Oasis and he seems to find us before we can find him!

  7. Have found most simple basic drinks, like gin and tonic, to be $8-10 range plus 18% gratuity. Not sure if tonic is available with soda package.

Tonic was available on our soda package last week. We did the in room package which was a better deal than individual Saphire and Tonic running $12 each.

  8. For those who like alcohol:

Campari is a very under utilized liquor on the list that is one of my favorites.

    Manhattan drinkers try a Boulevardier

Gin drinkers try a Nigroni or Paper Airplane

Or a Campari and Soda or Sprite.

    For those who prefer virgin:

Cranberry, lime and splash of Club, Soda water or Sprite

Any juice w a splash of Sprite/Club Soda

    Cranberry, Orange Juice and Sprite/Club

Pineapple Juice and Soda Water or Club and Grenadine
