  1. It was an Early Saver booking not late saver.
  2. So today finally, after booking a late saver on Brittania we got our cabin confirmation today which is 7 days before we travel. We got upgraded from an HF grade to a GE balcony which i think may be slightly bigger with a Sofa . The downside is that it is above the Live lounge on deck 8 so we may get some noise. But hey we will give it a go and see what happens. Ear plugs are always an option lol. Still no options to book main ding rooms or entertainment so i guess we will have to do this once on board when we have our dining arrangements.
  3. We are now 10 days from our trip on Brittania and we have not got our cabin allocation yet. With this new upgrade bidding palava i guess it will happen next week but looking at the cabins available at the moment (looked at by doing a dummy select booking) there are more than 50 standard balcony cabins available. In some ways i guess it will also depend on the flights available for the two days the ship is in port loading. We did get an inside upgrade on our last trip on Arvia to midship but it was below the dome and you could hear the entertainment through the floor but only til 11pm and it was not too bad. We have already paid around £300 more when we booked the early saver than the price available now so hopefully we may get a cabin with a sofa woo hoo. Having not done the carribean in a balcony cabin before , for all you seasoned travellers whats the position with Mosquitos , leaving cabin doors open etc. This is probably a stupid question but do we not have to bother about them whilst the ship is at sea. Think i will take Raid, Plug in adapters and body spray just in case. When my wife gets bitten they can cause awful swelling. Aparently drinking beer helps as they dont like the smell off the skin so i may have to try out that theory on a daily basis, just for research of course.😊
  4. Saved me 40 quid thanks for pointing this out.
  5. Could you please leave some feedback and tips on that cruise as we might do it in February.
  6. We had a situation on P&O azura last year when some peoples flights were delayed because of snow at Manchester airport and i think Glasgow. The ship was meant to sail to Madeira at 6pm from Tenerife , the flights got in at 4am and the ship finally sailed at 5.30am so in most situations departure times can be adjusted at the captain's and ports discretion.
  7. Just a tio re mosquitos, we managed to keep the blighters mostly at bay but between the ship (on coach) and in the airport terminal we got bitten so advise to spray yourselves with deet type spray before disembarking the ship.
  8. Thanks for the info we will probably have a light breakfast at the airport then depending what time we get through the pre boarding palava.
  9. The others like Sindhu and Epicurian are now available but not main dining room (s). Glass house showing enquire onboard
  10. Thanks Jean i suppose if i have a stiff drink and then lunch i will have a kip and entertainment wont be an issue.😊
  11. Just for info the transfer time from the airport to the ship is around 1hr by coach.
  12. Anyone ant idea what meals will be served on a 9 hour flight to Barbados departing at 11.10am on the Tui flights. I can imagine you get lunch but if the flight arrives mid afternoon local time do they provide a second meal or snack? Thanks
  13. Thanks Tiger but that did not work this morning , it would only let me pre book Epicurian?
  14. It was Jet2 for us last december and i was confused as i thought they only flew out of Stanstead but it was a special charter only for P&O cruise travellers.
  15. Hi Guys We are off to the Caribbean two weeks today on Brittania but we have still not received our cabin number. Now that is not really a problem but on Iona and Arvia you could book the Theatre and main dining room meal times 2 weeks before but then it crossed my mind that i would not be able to do this without a cabin number. Has anyone been on Brittania recently and if so what are the booking arrangements for main dining room meals for dinner and is there a shut off time for the opportunity to bid for cabin upgrades at which point i assume ,if there is ,that all the cabin allocations would then take place. This is our first time on Brittania so any tips would be helpful. Looking forward to seeing Curacao and Bonaire which we have not been too before . Many Thanks
  16. On the cruise we did last year from Malta we flew out there with Tui and came back with Titan airways. On the December cruise from Gatwick to Tenerife it was Jet 2 Both ways . That confused me because Jet2 dont do holidays from Gatwick but it was a chartered aircraft solely for P&O cruisers.
  17. We have stayed in Garda a couple of times MG and it is really nice. Tui are ripping the backside out of prices for the lakes this year charging double the price pre pandemic. Garda is pretty cental for north or south of the area. The cheapest and most cost effective way of getting around the lake is by bus. At the bus station in Garda which is where you will get dropped off from the airport you can get a 1 day ticket for 10 Euro or a 20 Euro ticket for 3 days. IMPORTANT NOTE if you want to go on the cable car to Monte Baldo at Malcesine then ask for ther voucher that comes with the ticket when you buy the one day or 3 day pass as it gets you 10 euro off the price of the cable car so instead of paying 22 Euro you only pay 12 Euro for the cable car. See the back of the bus timetable and read it carefully. ( these prices were a few years ago) A one day pass for the ferries is around 35 euros. Its not a cheap place for a holiday but it is beautiful , Riva is like an Austrian village. Avoid the hotel Palme in Garda very poor regimented half board.
  18. Great you managed to get the result that you wanted MB with your future bookings. That sounds like the kind of wather and headwind we had off protugal. We found the best sheltered place to sit was at the back of the ship on deck 8 with a towel around our neck to ease off the breeze but it was relaxing to see the wake behind the ship and have the sun, it was the only day i got mildly sunburned so take what you need with you and bag a good seat.
  19. Well the weather is set to be fine all day today in Cadiz MB, lets hope you have an uneventful day and you can enjoy last port port or any tour you have booked, Lisbon weather is looking good for tomorrow so you should get a nice sea day.
  20. Book your restaurants 14 days before on your account go to dining or you may have delays getting tables on board. Dont get to the port more than 15 mins before boarding time or they may make you queue. Book the limelight club and 710 venuse either in the boarding queue using your boarding pass numbers or as soon as you get on board and in your cabin. You will need to download the App if you have not done this already and always select remember me when logging in or you have to go through the logging in each time you open the app. You normally get a card in your room for a free glass of fizz for the sailaway but we used ours for a sailaway later in the cruise. Be proactive get meals and trips and shows organised and then you can relax. You can book the shows 15 days before departure and the 8.30 show is the most popular. If you cannot do a walk in to a show then the later 10.30 show is usually easier to get in. Have a great time.
  21. That was the kind of iisue we had on Oceana when we did the Fjords . When the weather was poor all inside areas were rammed and nowhere to sit. That is when it is a real benefit to have a Balcony cabin. Glad your day got better. Have a good time in the Limelight.
  22. I was surprised that the shuttle was free both ways and we were on a saver fare. Nobody had their card scanned wheras on Iona 18 months ago it was £4 each way but we got a taxi back from the Sagrada familier for 12 euros and got the return shuttle refunded by reception (£8). It was well worth getting the taxi and not having to walk back for the shuttle.
  23. According to BBC weather it might improve by noon but there are a lot of thunderstorms in that area for the next few days. Thats bad luck MB , i hope the weather gets better for you tomorrow.
  24. Hope it goes smooth MB and remember Barcelona is Pick Pocket capital.
