    Hi

I just got a notice from Princess that they sent Fed Ex to me and charged me for the band for a cruise I cancelled in January. I tried calling but after an hour hold gave up. What should I do? I can't refuse it because I am on a release and it will be left if I am not here. I should not have been charged for this since it was canceled in January. Suggestions please.....

    Thank you

    Kathy

I think you should be able to go to the fedex web site, and re-direct the package.

You might have to create an account.

I not have not seen pre-set drinkware on any Horizon Court on all my sailings. I have only seen tables cleaned promptly. This is just more of your well known anti-Princess agenda.

I have seen this on many occasions.  Particularly in the evening when they pre-set the

    tables with placemats.

If the Captain pictured was the last person on the ship, then the next person, regardless of who it was, that walked on that ship would own it.  You are correct, the lights are still on, so there are some engineers onboard, and there will be security people for fire watch, and then the crew to start the cleaning and for the move to the place where the month long "disinfecting" will be done.

The Captain was the last of the quarantined to leave the ship.

Thank you.  I always appreciate your replies.

We received the usual emails prior to our 2/15 sailing. I find it interesting that several of you have not received them for upcoming sailings....makes me wonder why they stopped.

I don't think it is anything nefarious...

Over the years, there have been other posters asking "what happened to the emails?"

Sometimes people get them, and sometimes they don't.    Regardless of any current situation.

I bought the stock for $17/share in 2009.

So what?   What do you think that has to do with whether or not to purchase CCL today?

You told us how great it was when the stock price was $60+

The people who listened to you better book quite a few cruises to get enough OBC to cover their losses

    from your advice.

Right now the stock is at a historical low for the last many years.  The stock pays $0.50 dividend/quarter for a 6.05% return on today's price.  CCL will pay the $.50 dividend on 3/13 to all who owned stock on 2/20.  How much do you get from a savings account or other investment.

Carnival owns 9 cruise line with over 100 ships on the seas.   Revenue last year was $20.83 billion with a net income of $2.99 billion.  They are not going broke any time soon.

Back when the stock was over $60, you were telling us how great it was:

Right now, there is a lot of unknown.

Plenty of time to wait and see, before jumping in and losing money.

We did have some trouble with traffic around Port Everglades. There were eight ships in port that day and the traffic was incredible. We had rented a car with drop off right near the port and thought that if we dropped it off by 12 we would be on the ship shortly after. Didn't happen. We boarded at 230 due to the back up of people who had rented cars, were dropping them off and then waiting for the free shuttle to take them to the port. There had to be at least 100 people waiting in the shuttle line when we got there. The traffic was so bad the shuttles had trouble getting back and forth in a timely fashion. And the shuttle only held 8 people! So we had a long wait in the warm Florida sunshine.

I think the record for port everglades is 16 or 17 ships.  8 is pretty common in the winter.

According the the harbormaster schedule, Crown was at berth 2.

If it had been me -- I would have done a drive by, and dropped off my luggage at the ship first, before

    returning the rental car.

If you were returning to Budget on SE 17th Street Causeway, it is then an easy walk to the ship after returning the car.

If you were returning somewhere off of State Road 84, I think your shuttle was probably a needlessly long ride.   Crown was

at berth 2.   If you enter the port from SE17th St onto Eisenhower blvd, you do not have to go through port

security.   You can drive quickly to the ship.

If you have a bunch of people in your van who are going to other berths first, you do have to go through

port security, which can be really slow.

Technical load is the load needed to keep the ship generating electricity.  For example, the pumps (sea and fresh water cooling pumps, fuel pumps, lube oil pumps, transfer pumps) for the various engines, boilers and auxiliary equipment, along with all of that auxiliary equipment (boilers, fuel and oil purifiers, waste water treatment plant, vacuum toilet system, water makers, steering gear, navigation and communication equipment, automation systems, etc, etc).  Basically everything that is not propulsion, thrusters, AC, or hotel (galley, laundry, dining, bars, entertainment, lighting).

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  If there were a way to give you points here ... like some other forums ... I would do so!

If a  cruise was on sale, then many people would book a cruise.

After 9/11, lots of people were afraid to cruise.

The cruise lines discovered the people who were afraid (for example) at $999, were a lot less afraid at $399.

As to the folks here with buy recomendations ... there were plenty of folks with buy recomendations at $60, too.

Some of the same posters in that thread and this thread.

I think there is so much uncertainty now, that there is no need to rush to make a decision.

Plenty of time to wait and see what happens with the med summer season.

The situation with Concordia was completely different.  It was ... bang! ... one instantaneous event.

Carnival Corp didn't have to worry about another ship sinking in a month.

The ship requires all generators to operate at full speed, but most itineraries don't require full speed. So, being down one generator means that an itinerary that requires full speed would not be met.

Thank you for your always rational posts.

    What are 'technical' electrical loads?

    Thanks.

OP back with a report. It worked! I faxed it on the way to the gym this morning and by the time I got back, it was already posted to our account. It's nice to have at least $100 back, since her stock has lost $2400 since Friday! 🙁

If she is a minor, and really owns the stock...

She should be able to declare the purchase void, and ask for her money back ... as minors aren't bound by contracts.

A local motor cycle dealer learned this when they sold a bike to a 17yo.

He crashed, went back to the dealer, and voided the purchase contract...

BTW. about two weeks ago, I had posted some comments about trouble for the stock price,

but I can no longer find the post here.

Captain Todd McBain is a fantastic captain because the safety of his passengers and crew is his primary concern.

Are there other captains for whom this is not true?

    We should probably avoid them.

I always prefer captains who are properly licensed, and hold endorsements for the particular cruising area...

God only knows how long Diamond out of commission with the deep sanitation clean it will need to go through.?

I thought princess had published a date -- like the end of April, that diamond would re-enter service.

Maybe they are just waiting for conformation from god...

Another nice thing about Crown Grill is the fantastic view from a booth by the Windows, on Grand Class ships.

    Especially at night.

However, on regal/royal, you might get stuck over by the piano player ... where there is no view, and it's a

    little loud for conversation.

We can get a $30 meal (or for less) where I live that is so much better than the Crown Grill. The quality of the Crown Grill items is not that great. I think the best item on my dish last time was the asparagus.

I agree.  But, I do like the black and blue french onion soup!

I've been following the problems associated with the Medallion class app & submitted a question to them concerning the fact that I can't even load the app on my older Samsung S6 android phone.

btw- the Ocean app it did work for me last Dec. but has been replaced by the Medallion class app.

I just received an email this morning that their going to have an update of the app by the end of this week. Hopefully this will resolve some other problems as well.

Again?!?!?  This is like a weekly event for the ocean innovators.

It seems like they need to hire some ocean testers...

Another case of 'stand by for a fix':
