  1. No, she'll take 14 outfits for evenings and wear each on the evening planned. She'll also have 12 day time/lunch outfits, which she might be slightly more flexible with. She'll probably take something slightly more casual for Lobster Mac and Cheese at The Red Hook Lobster Pound.
  2. I carried out internet searches many months ago on what gentlemen might have worn to balls and gala evenings in the 1920s. It would appear that attire was much the same then as now. That would be a dinner suit (tux). They would have been unlikely to wear a double breasted pin-striped suit & Fedora. That appears to be a fancy dress interpretation taken from what gangsters are reputed to have worn in the same era. My wife has picked the 14 outfits she likes best for the 14 nights for our next trip. They might change of course as the next one is a while away. They will range from gowns to mini cocktail dresses. The gowns are never floor sweeping though as they need to be short enough for her to dance safely in 3" heels. We will have masquerade masks but they are mainly for some of the photographs.
  3. We had 14 nights in a Club cabin on QM2 in June 2022. Going by online photos there is no real difference from Britannia Balcony cabins. Currently those on deck 13 have a better bathroom with shower screen rather than curtain. we don't know if that will change next month during the dry docking. We liked the BC port side restaurant. We were happy having the same table for all meals whenever we chose to eat (within opening hours), We used the "A La Carte" menu when nothing enthused us on the regular Britannia menu. The restaurant and cabin locations suited us for our onboard activities. We mainly use Chart Room, Queens Room, G32, Pavilion Pool and Gym. We'll be in the same cabin next time.
  4. The roar of jets taking off was what I missed most here during lockdowns. I was happy not to have the rasping exhausts from cars and motor bikes, but jet roar is a low level sound and told me that we were still in contact with the rest of the world. I'm more than happy to hear them at any time of day or night!
  5. No! Not until breakfast. Just kid on your an old Cunard cruiser with real stamina!
  6. OP wrote "get off the ship in the UK and drive to France". I would hope that means a one way rental or a car with driver. Assuming the regs do allow such a routing between USA and France they should have means of showing disembarkation at Southampton about 3 hours prior to checking in for Eurotunnel, and clearing all formalities at Folkestone. I'll try and read them if I get a chance.
  7. @j404dzb I've not read the uk gov advice recently. We brought our cats to France before the Brexit vote. But from a practical point of view would suggest you all the documentation to prove that you have made a single trip, albeit multi-modal. Perhaps daily pictures of you and your dog during the trip. The photos will have a digital time stamp to back up your documentation. Back in 2016 the folk who checked us at Eurotunnel Folkestone were more interested in whether we had paid for two cats and weren't sneaking any more through than paid for. They weren't interested in their pet passports.
  8. At some point I wrote that I found the bread rolls boring. I wasn't suggesting for a minute that Cunard should improve their roll offering. I wouldn't choose a cruise line on the basis of what the rolls were like. Just that the bread we buy here tastes so different from what we've tasted anywhere else. We eat something a bit less flavoursome on a daily basis, but this comes from a local artisan bakery. As with all the bread we eat here they don't add anything to preserve it so you need to eat it on day of purchase or slice and freeze it as we do.
  9. We're at home. You'll be over 30 miles away. We can see ships lights up to about 10 miles if it's clear.
  10. I think I own some polos. Can't remember when I last wore one. None of them had breast pockets so when I got my first smart phone I stopped wearing them. BTW you'll be sailing past us in the next hour or so, but a wee bit beyond the horizon.
  11. Looks like it increased to $21 in May last year. Next time we'll take a ferry trip to Bay Ridge and back to get some close ups of QM2. Then walk to The Red Hook Lobster Pound for lunch and return to re-board.
  12. A 15 second search! Well it was actually the second search with "pdf" in it. I knew I'd looked at it for another reason recently.
  13. I suppose they don't want to schedule two in a row. Originating from Scotland; we would attend an evening party/dancing dinner event running through all evening and into the early hours, then having recovered would have a formal meal at home in the early evening of New Years Day. The French aren't so big on parties. St Sylvestre is a multi course feast at a local restaurant from about 8pm to 1am, followed by meal at home on 1st. We'll dress to the nines for both as usual.
  14. @watsonbeau I think this is quite recent. Cruises mentioned in the T&Cs look like 2023-2025. Perhaps some prices have changed and they've temporarily withdrawn it from main site. Although looking at the URL it's from their Australian pages. But prices are in USD. https://s0.whitepages.com.au/737f82ce-e212-4a48-9362-b0c81b23bc97/cunard-document.pdf
  15. Hello, another visitor from the Cunard boards.... Glad you seem to be enjoying it so far. Do you mean folk were wearing tux suits and bow ties to board or just jackets and ties, as some do in Europe? What's the 755 & 822 about? Is it serving times?
  16. I posted some from June 2022 back in April. I think I've seen others posted for slightly more recent crossings, but haven't found them. There are links to some from a recent post on a QM2 sailing to Canada, which might be a bit different from a crossing. Which June 2025 Westbound are you sailing on? We sail on June 6th returning on 13th.

    Cunard Flights

We live in France. We use an agent in the English Midlands. We've never met. We communicate mainly be email and by phone when it comes to booking/paying or if there's a problem. We do know lots about them as they were recommended by a friend that was a prolific cruiser and I follow their Facebook and Instagram pages. There appear to be some good US based agents based on the wet luggage thread.
  18. I just started Roll Calls for M514 & M515. We're doing M514A but guidance suggests keeping them separate, although it's not essential.
  19. But then most of the 120,000 I'm talking about were driving buses, trains and trams or supervising those that were doing so. A very small percentage were in back office jobs.
  20. It's something many large companies have their public relations folk monitoring. Originally it would have been a case where part of someone's job was to scan through the press each morning and alert senior managers to anything relating to the organisation. I'm sure that will have progressed to online searches with auto alerts to anything mentioning certain key words. I've seen that set up in companies ranging from 500 to 120,000 staff and Wikipedia claim Carnival Corp have 150,000.

    Cunard Flights

Firstly, I've no experience of doing what you specify. Jet2 appear to offer direct flights as well, 4 per week in winter and 6 per week in summer. With Jet2 or Ryanair you'd need to make sure you book the luggage and seating that you need. Jet2 fly to Fiumicino whereas Ryanair fly to Ciampino. The former is the newer/bigger airport and closer to Civitavecchia. Ciampino is fractionally closer to Rome but connections aren't as well developed. We are going to Rome next May. We're booked direct from Nice. Friends are joining us from Scotland. They are booked on Lufthansa with a connection at Munich, but as it's a full service airline their luggage will be booked straight through. I believe the equivalent from Manchester arrives in Rome at 12:05. I can report on their experience after they've made the trips.
  22. I'm not big on buildings, unless they have dance floors. It is quite amazing how the spire stays up given it's lack of foundations.
  23. Bearing in mind that we've not seen a photo of the spandex leggings; I really don't see why not.
  24. About 36 years ago we were in Salisbury having afternoon tea with clotted cream at Michael Snell's tearoom. Unfortunately I believe the tearoom closed in 2003. The Cathedral was quite impressive as well, but nothing trumps a clotted cream tea.
  25. No idea why, but that latest link always brings me back to this page. I caught up with the blog through the browsers autocomplete. Interesting as usual! I've always made our own lemsips. Crushing tablets with a spoon and adding orange, lemonade, honey and sometimes brandy. Suppose I should call it orangesip. We stir or swirl the cup to ensure all the paracetamol is mixed through as we drink. A great thing for keeping sinuses clear is a little bottle called Neilmed. They sell sachets of mix for it, but we just add salt and bicarb of soda to warm water. I'm sure it would offer some relief without the bicarb if you could only get salt from dining room. Rinsing out the sinuses a couple of times a day makes things a bit more comfortable. Thankfully we've only had a couple of colds in last 7 and a bit years so it doesn't get much use.
