  1. We did something similar for our June sailing on Getaway. Had a Spa Balcony cabin booked at $1450 pp. We kept watching the price of the Haven Spa Suite drop. until I couldn't wait any longer. I pulled the trigger and upgraded to the suite at $1826 pp. Cost an extra $752. Our original cabin got us a $50 OBC the suite nabed a $300 OBC. So for an extra $502 we got the suite. NOW, are you going to use the spa, that is another $400ish for 2 weekly spa passes if not in a spa cabin so you could figure that in also. BTY, 2 days after final payment the price of our cabin went up $1800.......GO FOR IT!!!!!!

  2. Just got off the phone with my NCL PCC and was reserving restaurants and shows for my Getaway cruise on June 14th, 2014. He said the Ocean Blue specialty restaurant was showing as $0.00. I had him book it for our day 3 dinner. After he confirmed all restaurants and times, it still came across as $0. I verified the same thing on the MY NCL website while on the phone with him. I tried a few other days as a test to see if it would show up as $0 and it did. Does not appear there are many times left available.

Did something change where Ocean Blue is now included in the Unlimited Dining Plan? I thought two months ago it was $50 per person no matter what. Right now as an individual purchase on the MY NCL website it's showing $37.50 per person.

Obviously I cannot confirm this works with other Getaway cruises.

Seems like if you have the UDP and are interested you may want to see if you can book the Ocean Blue as an included cost.

Hey Accessbowtie I'm on the same sailing as you. I tried to book Oceanblue and its now giving a price of $60 for 2 (we have UDP). The price does seem to be going down but didn't get the zero you received.

  3. Getaway has a small display near the library and card room that talks about NCL's earlier years. There's some photos and info about Norway too. I think that small level of recognition is appropriate.

Norway is still somewhat of an embarrassment for NCL. It was completely avoidable negligence on their part that led to so many unnecessary deaths. The way they handled her sale and the issues surrounding her dismantlement were also distasteful.

Reassessing my stance on the legacy of this great ship. I'm thinking that the majority of posters are correct. Small tributes to her here and there is the correct thing to do. I'll make sure I check out the display on Getaway when we sail in June. Sometimes some different points of view are a good thing. Thank you everyone who responded.

  4. 13 sailings on that glorious vessel. If not a ship than what can they do?. NCL should do something to honor her. I'll stumble on photos of her being salvaged and it makes me sad :(

  5. This sailing will be our 2nd suite cabin. I think that prices for a suite are a bit high. The only reason we are in a suite on our Getaway sailing is the price came down to within $300 of our Spa Balcony cabin. That price I could justify. Not to get off topic but our suite price on the Getaway is actually cheaper than an inside cabin on a Disney cruise. Now that's expensive..

  6. Good for you :D. I was a Vegas first cruise second guy during the 80's. After the 1987 stock crash could only do one or the other  (yes I know poor me ..lol). We've been cruising ever since. I think our last trip to Vegas was in 2004. He will get hooked..have fun. :)

  7. Someone pointed out when this was announced that this could be a major cost cutting decision by NCL. It saves big bucks in fuel by going to Tortola rather than St Maarten.

I love St Maarten and glad I get one of the final stops on Getaway next year.

Unfortunately it is a cost saving measure :(. Fuel for these mega-ships is crazy expensive as is the docking fees the newer ships must pay . I love St. Maarten, I have shop owner friends that I've come to know over the years of going there. Sad to say but, "nothing personal, strictly business". We do have the option to book other lines that go to this lovely island. I for one will be doing just that.

  8. Did the specialty restaurants get there menus tweaked also? Saw a video on the NCL site about Cagney's and it shows them preparing a T-Bone steak. The sample menu didn't have T-Bone on it.

  9. Just putting this out there and maybe NCL could consider it. Name one of the upcoming new-builds The Norway. IMHO this would be a fitting tribute to a great ship and provide a Flagship for the line. Thought's and prayer's to the crew and their families lost in the boiler explosion. Opinion's?

  10. Is it possible to do a nice Italian meat and cheese plate for the afternoon snack ? I'm sure they would have most of the items in the galley just wondering if we let them know ahead of time with the pre-concierge that it could be arranged. The Sicilian in me likes that before dinner..:D

  11. I have cruised with Carnival and RCI and I am wondering why I should try NCL>

Cruised NCL alot back in the 80's and 90's, loved them. Giving the "Freestyle" a try this June. I'll let you know what I think when we get back. IMHO its you that makes a great cruise. Cruised on a number of lines and ships, never really had a bad cruise. Well there was that one fishing trip with my brother-in-law:eek: but thats another story;).

  12. Ahhh, 1977 just out of college. The Victoria out of San Juan. It seems that I should have listened to my grandmother when she told me to bring nice clothes  (suit and tie, tux for dinner). Yep, they dressed up every night . We looked like a bunch of dolts with our pants and polo shirts , no ties or jackets. TIP: listen to the world traveler grandmother. Went on The Victoria the next 2 years. Bought a Tux and brought 3 suits. :D.."Every girl crazy bout a sharped dressed man".

  13. I think I know the answer to this question but I'll ask it anyway, maybe someone has done this on the ship. What if I want 2 bottles from one cat. and 2 from another. Do they avg. the bottles...ie:2 bottles $22 for 2 from first cat. and 2 $27.50 for 2 from the third cat....total for 4 bottles $99.

  14. Just found out that I'm pregnant with baby #3 last week & we are sailing next week. Nausea has already started coming & going. Ginger ale was all that helped with baby #1. Would rather not bring my own but will if they don't have any on ship. Thanks.

I don't have an issue with motion sickness however my DW does. She uses these supplement's called Ginger Trips. I've attached below.
