We loved our Oasis Boardwalk Balcony - 10329. I did post some photos in a thread but here are 2 of them.  We sailed 9/2021 when the ships were still at 1/2 capacity, but noise wasn’t a problem for us. We usually go to bed after most activities anyway. Loved watching the Aqua theatre from our balcony and would definitely book it again.

I recently stayed in 12729, the room was fine and there is a slight view of the wake but not a good one.  If you want to be connected to the ocean, boardwalk rooms are not for you.  The 2 biggest headaches, it is a long walk to the room and the aqua show is LOUD and you can clearly hear it in your room.

No, I don't care about only an ocean view. We have been staying in the CP Balconies and liked them. I like the people watching. We are barely in our room so I wouldn't worry about noise and I did see the walk is long. I guess better to keep the weight off of eating and drinking for a week lol

We just off the Oasis and had a regular ocean view balcony.  It was great.  We walked through the Boardwalk and Central Park and would never book one of these balconies.  Spend a little more for a regular ocean view balcony.  It is worth it.

Actually this one is more than an ocean view balcony and I didn't care for the OVB that we once had.

For me it really comes down to if you value the drink package and other free at sea items like the dinners and wifi.  For me, the drink package I love to have to take the stress out of extra costs in particular.  Royal is quite expensive to add that on top of the cruise fare.  Good luck deciding, there are worse problems to have 🙂

Thank you and yes, there are worse problems 🙂

I have sailed both, though my Oasis experience was when the ship was brand new.  If you could get both ships and packages for the exact same price I would go with the Oasis, there's just so much to do and so many options.  That said, I sailed the Joy last fall and it was probably my favourite cruise so far, especially love the Observation Deck.

My experience with pricing is that for what I value, the NCL prices are significantly less than the equivalent thing on RCCL.  To get an outside balcony (not central park) mid-ship on the Oasis, plus a drink package, specialty meal and wifi, it would cost significantly more on RCCL than NCL.  That's what has drawn me to NCL in recent cruises.  I do have a RCCL cruise coming up in a few weeks though, so I'm not completely biased!

That said, if you're getting the equivalent cabin on Oasis, she's an amazing ship.

Thanks 🙂  I have priced out the inside rooms for both ships.

  6. Love RCCL and the Oasis class but was looking into NCL as prices are about the same as they have drink packages included (would be an extra for spouse who it would cost more for the alcohol package on RCCL), Wifi included (wouldn't get with RCCL), an excursion included (might benefit us) and specialty dining (would benefit us).

Looking at the Joy but when I watch videos, the ship just looks so closed up and some activities cost more money.

Has anyone done both and what are the pros and cons of leaving RCCL?

We are also 4 cruises away from Diamond so thinking we should stay right now with RCCL.

I'm hoping by our cruise on Allure in a couple weeks many of the crew will not be wearing masks. It is hard for me because I have hearing issues (deaf in one ear and I do wear hearing aids) -- therefore difficult to understand many of the accents.  I feel bad that the great crewmembers that have to repeat themselves when we talk. I don't think people appreciate how much we all lip read when we're talking to people.

Agreed. I felt so bad for the crew and it was so difficult to communicate.

Ask the first appointment's proctor if they can do all 4 of you. My wife & I had B2B appointments but the first proctor did both of ours at the same time (which I knew from asking in advance).

I can't promise they can do 4 at once. You can also ask them in advance of course. I found their customer service to be very he'pful and responsive.

Ok thank you for sharing your experience.

What's the big hurry?  After the stress of getting to the ship, boarding, waiting for luggage, unpacking, it's nice to have a leisurely dinner and conversation with our new tablemates.

Exactly. No one can just soak things up and enjoy life anymore. Everything is a rush to go here and there. Unless there is a show or something that needs to be done, why not just enjoy your vacation?
