Seems one of you is talking of individual passengers acting like knuckleheads and the other is talking about ship sponsored events like the belly flop contests.   All lines have some rude passengers.   I don't recall Celebrity sponsoring any of the pool party things this thread is about.   I wonder if they ever did.

Our first cruise on the Big Red Boat had pool games on it and that was almost 30 years ago. I guess MOST people like those kind of things 😉

I did think of one other thing that should go. I will first admit I have never been to one of these so credential challenge if you like . Most lines have the ''adult '' (dirty ) comic to me I would not be caught dead watching this it just seems so forced and out of place, Something can be dirty and funny but it is not funny because it is dirty. Like do people shout ''yea'' every time he drops a F- bomb, is this really cutting edge or funny, again these are very popular and to me (here he goes again) F-ing classless.

    What DO you like? lololol

The danger is that it breaks the narrative of the last 2 years and people cant admit they were wrong and the Public Health officials were all wrong about the vaccines and the boosters.

People are in no more danger from catching Covid from unvaccinated passengers vs vaccinated passengers. Public Health officials from the start have downplayed natural immunity acquired through prior Covid infection because they thought it would contribute to vaccine hesitancy.

The fear is that unvaccinated people could get sicker and cause medical emergencies on the ship that would require evac which could alter a sailing. But we have no breakdown of vaccinated people that were Covid positive on sailings that required a medical emergency and evac.

Funny how no one remembers when the vaccinated were told they could have get togethers, unmasked but the unvaccinated could not. Then all the vaccinated starting spreading it amongst themselves. I  know unvaccinated who got less sick then the vaccinated so there is no real answer of who will get it worse.

So the hairy chest and belly flop contest are out . I hope other lines will follow and get rid of these classless and played out antics on all lines. I do wonder if they are trying to class up there rep. after it has taken a beating over some of the classless people getting in brawls at 5:00 in the morning. What else should go on cruise lines things that are classless or just played out. Mine and this is very big on Carnival is dancing waiters, played out most do not like it and some like it too much .

RCCL has sexy man competition which is hilarious and we enjoy the belly flop (hubby is 4 time champ lol). No one makes you participate or observe so I am not sure what the big deal is. 🙂

For some, it may the expense, especially if they don't realize they can pay $10-$20 for a proctored test instead of $100++ at a chain drugstore.  For most, I believe it's the stress of having to take a test that is a snapshot measurement of something totally beyond their control.  Most people would not board a cruise ship or even go out in public if they were truly sick, but with this, you can test positive and have your entire vacation canceled yet experience zero symptoms or symptoms no worse than allergies.  We here reports on the forums every day that someone came back from a cruise and tested positive for COVID and felt a little bad for a few days, or even that one spouse was positive and one was not.  I've not seen a single person say they were so sick they needed medical treatment, although a few did get it prophylactically.  If people were truly getting very sick or even dying because of COVID on a cruise ship, it would be plastered all over the news with headlines about "petri dishes".  Continue to test and making otherwise healthy positive people stay home is about in line with being told you have cooties.

    Thank.you.

Glad you can go.  Don't stress the tests, and if the kids need a PCR the extra day to get it will help.  Truly, the telehealth proctored tests are the answer IMO.  You do it when you want to, you don't go out, you don't stand in line, wait, etc.  Worth every penny of the cost.  Results in 15 minutes.  Done.

"Kids" are adults so we all are going to test the same day. Just very stressful. Trying to think positive though. 🙂

This is what I've always thought, too.  I'm making sure I don't bring an infection to OTHER people.  That's also why I wear a mask on board the ship most of the time, only then it's a 50-50 protection:  I am protecting myself from picking up respiratory infections and/or COVID, too.

I am continuously puzzled why people get upset about pre-cruise testing.  I could see the expense for a family, and PCR tests for kids.  But, with BinaxNOW I was spending about $35 each on the test, with my iphone, from anywhere I was in the world 2 calendar days before I cruised.  Now, it appears OnPoint does telehealth testing with the government's free tests, so the price is now down to $20 - $30.  This all falls into my category of "miscellaneous travel expenses" like Uber.

I look at it like I did when luggage was limited to 50 lbs or pay a fee.  Or, drink pricing and gratuities got more expensive.  It's part of cruising.

(She posts, with a puzzled look on her face, and mentally scratching her head.)

How many cruises/vacations have you been on in the last 2 1/2 years?

Not scared to go out, we still go out. But do so wisely, we don't go anywhere where are near anyone else for a time greater then 10 or 15 minutes at a time.  Granted working from home helps greatly.

So we aren't sitting with strangers around us eating for hour  and 15 minutes or more like in the Main Dining Room or 45 minutes in a theatre on a cruise ship.

If we go to a ball game at home, we sit in the stands away from people etc.

Grocery shopping, in and out in 15 minutes, never wait in the long lines, use self check outs.

Unlike some we are a lot my thoughtful of others. Probably more then a lot on this board and yes we do test ourselves once in a while and have no issue when doing  it.

People should just self test when going on vacations at this time I think no matter what kind of vacation it is.  It's just the kind thing to do for others.

Just when it comes to testing like the cruise lines want just do it without putting up a fuss. If you want to cruise you just do what the cruise lines want. If you don't want to follow their rules stay home. It's so easy.

Why is everyone so against what the cruise lines  thinks is best at this time. When they feel it's not needed then we all go  with that.

Everyone should do what is comfortable for them and NOT have anything mandated. I have gatherered with friends and family since May 2020. When the restaurants opened we ate inside and out. When the hair and nail salons opened, I was the first one to be there. Since May of 2021 when masks were lifted and many things opened, I gathered in large crowds, unvaccinated. Never thought once of getting sick or getting anyone else sick as if they were not comfortable around others, they would not be there or maybe should NOT be there. I have only tested for work when made to. I only vaccinated for a cruise. I would not have had to for any other reason in my life. I have worn a mask once in the last 3 months and just for a doctors appointment.

I assure you that no one was this concerned about anyone else before this and it is all shoved down our throats how horrible we are if we are not.

That's all well and good for you if you don't have any symptoms that effect you BUT what about when you infect someone onboard that for them the symptoms are much more severe. For some even life threatening? Do we go with that and just say well it doesn't effect me the heck with ever one else? Your on your own theory?

If your immune system is that bad that any virus would be life threatening for you, you should not be going places with many people. Why only now are we concerned over this when they knew before covid that any illness could affect them, and affect them badly?

Why is taking the test so stressful? I don't get it. If I turn out positive I don't want to get on a  cruise ship anyway. Rather deal with symptoms  at home then in a 175ft square ft cabin on a cruise ship.

Because we have 4 people and any one of us could be asymptomatic and ruin our entire vacation that has been planned for years.

I agree I would rather be home if I was sick but if I had NO symptoms just like every other illness that might affect others, it should not be mandatory.
