this normally happens when you try to get info about a cruise that is about to be canceled

in this case, it comes up in all the categories, ship, port, date, length of cruise etc, all most combinations of them. it comes up even when im searching for info on a cruise late next year

  2. i try and keep track of my cruise and whats being offered. has anyone noticed the uh oh we're taking a small vacation comes up more often then not, making it almost impossible to get cruise info, or is it just my bad luck

  3. well  it's nice to connect with you. imade it to the top 25 and then into the top 10, but like you i stopped checking. most of your answers were spot on, so i figured there was no reason to add my 2 cents.

we were booked on a 17 day cruise from santiago this past march but obviously it was cancelled.

i'm not booked on the 18 day dawn from rome. looking forward to that one with my fingers crossed for not cancellation. here's hoping one day we get on the same cruise and can have a beer together.

    under the circumstances,

    stay safe and keep cruising.

by the way, my name is sam and we live in los angeles

  4. by the way traveling man,,, just out of curiosity, are you the same  person answering all the ask and answered questions on the ncl ships that i have to compete with you and amit?

if so, how are you doing. its good to hear from you, i havent answered a question in a while.

  5. so youre really thinking about spending an extra $895 just to get on the ship a little earlier. why, it aint going anywhere until the stated time.  there may be no buffet, so you wont get there any earlier, you may get to a bar quicker but that's certainly not worth almost $900. and they usually wont let you into your cabin until 1:30-2:00.

not doing this seems to me a no brainer

  6. i find some of the real joys of cruising are going to different places, seeing new things, mixing with the local citizens and trying the local cuisine. None of these are available just cruising to private islands.

add the hassle of waiting to get to the island by tender, sharing the beach with a few thousand of your closest friends and fighting them off trying to snag a beach chair, the joy of once again jockeying for position to reboard a tender to get back to the ship, plus the fact that other than the beach, there is nothing to attract attention on the private islands. we live in los angeles, and if i need to see the beach i get in the car and drive down. if i want to share excitement with 1000's of other people, i'll drive or fly to vegas and if i wantto see sights, there are loads to see in the u.s.

it better be a long and cheap cruise to get me on board if only to travel to a private island andeven then, i'm not going to bother getting off the ship when i'll probably have the bars, pool and casino more or less to myself

  7. one of the primary selling points for me on ncl is freestyle dining. even if offered, if i have to dress up for the mdr to have dinner with the officers, that is an  absolute deal breaker for me. if i cant come in jeans, i aint coming, even if im invited to sit in the captains lap!!!! (ha ha)

the officer dinner is usually in the main dining room.  Sometimes the officer has an obligated edge.  -   So hardly any big deal for me.     I've actually found some more painful than enjoyable.

oddly enough, they sent the survey to my 20 year old grandson. he got all his latitude points when he turned 18, and at that point he has enough for platinum + and that was also the last time we took him on a cruise...... go figure!!!!

We are Platinum Plus and didn't get the survey.  Did this survey only go to those that are below Platinum?

I like the idea of giving us Platinum Plus a choice of benefits.   How hard would it be to let us choose from a menu of benefits?

I'd rather have a couple of cans of Diet Pepsi than the wine🤔

funny, the last thing i want is the internet. im on vacation, but the first thing my wife does is sign up in the internet cafe for the unlimited wi fi. . by the  way, plus also gets  2 extra dinners, while in and of iyself, that aint bad, you're looking at maybe $30 per person for 4 dinners it's about $120.  seems to me that when we're spending $1,000's of dollars on a cruise, plus the airfare, possible hotels etc, two extra dinners per person doesnt entice me.

we've been platinum and platinum plus for a number of years, and the last thing i care about is  having dinner with the officers

  11. dont they nickel and dime their passengers enough without thinking about an add on. it's bad enough when the free at sea ends up with service charges. we are platinum plus, and the only real useful thing i use on the cruise 1s the $50 plus 15% off on shore excursions, and even then, in a number of ports i hire a taxi.

  12. im not a snob, but have been spoiled booking either a regular suite or a haven suite. the 24 hour on call butler is one of the primary reasons i book suites. without the butler, the difference in price between a suite and a mini suite, or what is now called a club suite is certainly not justified.  i have a wonderful cruise consultant named lynn. if you have any questions or concerns about the cabin status, please feel free to send me an email @sampraw@aol.com and i qouldbemore than happy to give you her information. by the way, the concierge is nice, but since he's not getting me tickets to a broadway show, i dont really utilize his services. only to get me off the ship in a hurry when its time to finally disembark. (that alone is worth the price of admission) we're off and at our luggage within15 minutes.

  13. after taking 18 cruises on many and varied ncl ships, i have never had to pre pay for a shore excursion. and except for maybe 2or 3, i have never had any of the ones i wanted to take be sold out. actually, i usually book the day or night before we reach a port.

    just lucky i guess

  14. if possible leave from new orleans. book your stay at harrah's if you can. its across from the "riverfront" and a stones throw away from the port. there is a great sushi restaurant a few blocks from this hotel, and the casino is jut across the street with a numberof restaurants in side also.

That is strange, one would think anyone booking the Star should get all kinds of rewards.

the rewards come with the sailing. if the ship doesnt sail there arent any rewards.besides, the  only rewards offered are the 4 free at sea, or the goodies that come with a suite or a haven cabin. having sailed on the star when ncl 1st offered the southeast asia cruise (dec 2016 through jan 2017) i think anyone sailing on the star deserves a gold medal
