  1. after the other replies, i just thought i'd add an additional comment. yes its true consultants work for the cruise line and they are sales people.  that being said, however, i'll admit i'm rather anal when it  comes to booking cruises, so whenever i call my consultant, it's usually to see if the figures she gives me are consistent with the ones i have worked out for myself. i give her the dates, ship and cabin and she merely just puts in the reservation, and thensends me an email confirmation. shes not selling me anything, ive already told her exactly what i want. if you do your homework aheadof time, know what you want, you shouldhave no problem. if  your consultant consistently will not call back, get another one asap

  2. my consultant's name is lynn. i've been working with her for 4 years and have taken 18 ncl cruises since 2010. if she doesnt answer the phone immediately, i get a call back within the hour.  maybe youshould ask for her help. she has never failed to call me back. also she has the patience of a saint. i ask her to price out different cabins and she is always helpful

  3. we took my grandson on a number of cruises between the ages of 16 - 17 when he was just a few months shy of 18. they are strict with the age requirements, by what they do have for teens your age is called the entourage. i assure you my grandson had an absolute blast, met a much of teens his age and we hardly saw him the entire trip (14 nights) dont worry, join the entourage and you'll be surprised at what a good time youll have

  4. while i certainly agree that they are not the most user friendly company, having looked at other cruise lines, for the itineraries and the price per cabin, i think you get  the most bang for your buck. my wife gets 10% off per cabin through casinos at sea and thru cesars entertainment. we cancelled the march 14th cruise from santiago (although it was ultimately cancelled anyway) but i have just book the 18 day cruise on the dawn sailing dec 1st from rome.  2 of the ports are istanbul and haifa.  i have always wanted to see israel. i booked the family suite and for 118 days with the butler and the other goodies, i couldnt think of a better deal.

sine i dont expect much from norwegian, im happy to get my cabin and see the sights. by the way we've atken almost 20 cruises on norwegian, and other than an aft suite on the epic, i really dont have much to complain about.

little things to grumble about, but generally leadme to my cabin, give me the free booze and meals, and im happy.  at a port i usually hire a taxi for the same shore excursions offered on board for usually a much cheaper price, and the driver goes where i want to go

What’s everyone thoughts on this ?
what do you think would happen if you have a paid in full cruise??
I have a May 2nd cruise and starting to worry a little bit with the market dumping as it is. NCL is now down to $7.xx A share.

    what’s everyone thoughts.

pure speculation on my part, but i would imagine if ncl declares bankruptcy we would be like any other creditor "SOL".  however, it seems we all traded information for the past few weeks, maybe we could try and get together and file c class action suit. it may not work as the coronavirus was not forseeable, but maybe better than just kissing our money bye-bye.

On the positive side, ncl has a large fleet of ships and each one has an intrinsic monetary value. Also if you remember the last time major corporations had a financial crisis i think it was in 2008 the govt stepped in with a bailout. i dont think they would let ncl go under.

again, i dont have anymore information then thenext person, these are just my thoughts trying to respond to your question.

i have, however, gone by my personal mantra " ncl doesnt give away ice cubes in winter"

  6. i spoke to my ncl cruise consultant this morning. it is my understanding and i believe it was posted elsewhere that on march 23rd all will be directed to fill out a form on the ncl website to request either a cash refund or cruise credit. i have also previously readif ncl doesnt hear from you they will automatically give you 125% cruise credit.

having also read quite a number of posts, it appears that many cruisers are livid about the treatment they have received from ncl.  since i have never felt that norwegian was a fountain of generosity, i can only speculate and worry what they will do if an overwhelming majority of their customers demand the cash back.

    hope this helps

How would you feel if a passenger on your ship was constantly coughing?

the person could have asthma, or could be recovering from a cold/cough, or could in fact be sick?

simple choice of two (1) give him the benefit of the doubt, he could also be chronic smoker (2) toss his butt overboard

  8. that you choose not to utilize the services available by the staff is your decision. im very happy and delighted to see my cabin stewards, they have always been helpful and cheerful, nevr once have i had to ask for ice, always inthe bucket, i ask for extra bath towels, and they arrive daily, why would you want to make your own bed? do you do the same staying in a hotel. i suggest you lightenup, enjoy whats available, and stop being a grump. i enjoy having the butler bring daily goodies, and if you dont want to eat at the mdr, cough up a little extra and splurge at the specialty restaurants. it just sounds like you have a major aversion to having a good time, or just going with the flow. enjoy being pampered instead of complaining

I have seen recent posts about trips being cancelled on short notice in Europe, and I have seen this in the past in the Caribbean.  I know sometimes this may happen because of mechanical issues, but I am more concerned about NCL getting a better offer.  When they’re able to charter the ship out to a company and cancel our trip.

I realize in the fine print of the contract it says something about the fact that they can cancel any port or the whole trip and we are just out of luck.  But I would rather totally avoid booking any of the ships that are typically used for these kind of situations.  Can anyone tell me which ships to avoid booking trips on?

    Thanks

been cruising with ncl since 2010 and never faced this sort of problem.as far as i'm concerned what matters to me most is the itinerary. although some ships are nicer than others, as long as i enjoy where they are taking me, the actual ship is irrelevant.

  10. there are no dress codes whatsoever.this is freestyle cruising. le bistro insists on collared shirts, im ususally in jeans, tennies, and assorted t shirts, long and short sleeves. besides, im not crazy about le bistro, so i avoid that, even though we get a free meal.

enjoy your vacation, and what to wear at dinner should absolutely be the very leastof your problems or concerns.. bon vboyage

  11. i have never had a problem with the butler on any ncl cruise we've ever taken, starting in 2010 and going thru 2018. they were always present as soon as we checked into our cabin.  at 7:00 every morning he brought a pot of coffee and a pot of hot water for tea, assorted pastries, in the afternoon, he brought goodies, cookies, any drinks we requested, as was always available by phone. Im truly sorry your experience was so much different then ours.  The butler service is one of the primary reasons we book a suite or haven if available. If we cant have a a butler, my wife doesnt want to go.

  12. is anyone aware of any current civil unrest in santiago.  We were booked into the Crowne Plaza, and they canceled by reservation and advised they will be closed until june.

Although they rebooked me into one of their other properties, my wife is a little worried about what happens when we get there. we're not planning on cancelling the cruise, but i'd like to know if i should come heavily armed.
