  1. ellieinnj. groan, horrible pun. I want my MTV cant always get what you want !..some things are just relegated to the past and meant to stay there
  2. trust me, they'd rather have more cash than a thumb drive, any day! what ever you have loaded on the drive, is probably a reflection of your tastes and may not be of any interest to your cabin steward
  3. it's not a matter of capability, or maturity. the policy is ncl will not book a cabin for a minor, unless someone 21 or older is booked into that same cabin. it's just a matter of booking (as i understand it) ncl does not follow up on who's in a cabin. just book an adult into the cabin with your child. neither your husband nor you need to actually sleep there, if there are only the 3 of you, watch out, you may get dinged for 1 1/2 x's the cabin cost as it will show you are the only one sailing in the other cabin. i also believe that it is the ncl policy not to allow 2 cabins to be booked under the same name. so either way, they have you coming or going.
  4. forget about good, it was amazing, you have to give the girls extra kudo"s non-stop singing/dancing throughout the show with nary a breather. we saw it again locally, (los angeles pantages theater), i got 2 tickets for my grandson and his girlfriend. he's 24 but we have taken him to the theater since he was little, and his girlfriend apparently was not a theater person. upon return the next day, she loved it. there is hope for her still. BTW, i would gladly see it again
  5. again yes, in 2021 we took a b2b 1t part from venice to athens. since cruise ships areno longer allowed to dock in venice, we flew in 3 days early, on the 3rd day, we had previously hired a shuttle service to drive us to trieste. we spent the night in a beautiful hotel (hilton double tree) and the next morning we had a bus takes us to the port (short ride away) by about 11 or so we were on board and having lunch at cagney's. i chilled in our cabin, and my wife and our traveling companion, got back off and walked to the city, short walk from ship to the beach and shopping area. so yes it can be done (at least a few years ago)
  6. ok, im sure i'll get d**ned and blasted for this post, but here goes (1) donna summer has been dead for years (2) disco has been dead for years (3) unlike some other major artists that have come before, and whose music is timeless, dont you think she' slightly passe? can you name 5 of her songs (did she even have that many) believe me, i do not mourn the cancellation of her show. the show was part of a season ticket package we always buy in los angeles, and we didnt even bother to try and give away the tickets. 3rd row left center a few years ago on the bliss the shows were jersey boys and six. having seen jersey boys a few times in the past, we walked out (frankie valli he ain't) while we loved six. prior posts have d**ned 6 and praised jersey boys to the heavens. even if donna wasnt cancelled, i'd probably not bother to see it.
  7. cant speak about the encore, but we were on the bliss to alaska july 2022. since 2010 we have sailed most of the ncl fleet. bliss was awesome , especially the observation lounge. we have never bothered to use the spa.
  8. the only real difference is the haven pool area, and sun deck. we've been in both category's. the rooms are essentially the same. save your self the extra few $1,000 and book the suite. you can still have breakfast in modernos, lunch in cagney's and still get the 24 hr on call butler and concierge. someone no less than a casino's at sea rep asked me would you spend the extra money, just for the separate pool/jacuzzi? unless the particular ship has a designated haven complex (their own restaurant, bar, lounge area etc) which i believe or as i remember the jade does not, youre miles and miles ahead just booking the suite(not club balcony suites)
  9. it is my understanding, and it has nothing to so with the maturity (or lack thereof) of the minor. NCL will not let you book a room, inside up to garden suite for one person if they are under 21. i also believe that you cannot have 2 bookings under the same name. so if you book the cabin under you and your daughters name, that will work, however, since you now must book the other cabin with just your husband's name, there is a good likelihood that you will need to pay the1 person supplement or 1 1/2 x's the cabin cost. why not check the cost of the 2 bedroom suite?
  10. mugtach. any particular reason why. a few years ago we were on the star just before it was going into dry dock. there were no problems, and if we hadn't been told about the drydock, we wouldnt have noticed any difference
  11. david, in that case, i hereby challenge you to a thrilling game of hungry, hungry hippos. please forgive me if i fall asleep during the game (LOL)
  12. hey, living at the beach. why worry and do anything at all? i like to roam around the ship at night, maybe grab a drink or 2. might catch the later show if my wife wants to go. its probably just me, but i'm 76 years old, and possibly after lounging at dinner ( we have yet to be kicked out of any venue) but i know teppanyaki needs the turnover, and maybe getting the after dinner glass of port , and a cappuccino, im ready to chill in my cabin. a few nights on the cruise, i will go to the casino. how well i'm doing dictates how long im there just give me my balcony, a bottle of heineken a decent itinerary, and im good to go. sometimes i get up in the middle of the night, open the balcony door and just watch the water.
  13. the 10% military discount means a lot, especially if you are going to book a higher category cabin. it just needs you to go to the id me site. im not sure if all ncl ships do this, but on our last cruise (b2b) they left a very nice packet with a special medallion a 2nd one for the specific ship, and a very nice cocktail party for the vets. while simple, it was a nice gesture on the part of ncl. i got it twice because it was a b2b. another thing that saves some money is being an ncl shareholder (100 shares or more) when covid hit, ncl went down to $7.00 per share so i snagged 100. on our next 17 day cruise this april, we got a $250 OBC
  14. i have stated many, many times before, i choose a cruise (mainly ncl) because of price and ports. whatever may be available entertainment-wise is so far down on my list of requirements or priorities as to be almost non-existent. last cruise we took, i didnt really care for the shows in the theater, so we tried to retreat to one of the bars that had singer. it was almost (imho) painful to hear him. sounded just like a cat whose tail was caught under a rocking chair. the atrium featured a dance couple (ho hum). i would never book a cruise with the entertainment as a priority i'd rather retreat to my cabin and read my kindle i acknowledge that entertainment to some folks is important, as well as the food. to me, ain't no big thang! the opinions expressed herein are strictly my own, so please, dont crucify me for them
  15. it's cheaper to pay for them than to upgrade the drink package, especially if you're not big drinkers. along that thought, it may even be cheaper to drop the drink package entirely, save the money, and just pay as you go. sometimes (when we're in a suite) if we're at breakfast in moderno, lunch in cagneys, or even in a mdr, the waiter will bring me a cappuccino and my wife a latte, and not charge
  16. try this (for us it works) the excursion desk always puts out descriptions of every excursion as well as the prices. i take one, decide which excursion i want, and when we're off the ship i find a cab, show him the description and ask if he can duplicate it. most of the time he can, at a reduced price. tell him your time frame, and when you want to be back. wherever we have done this (in mostly every port we've stopped at) the driver will stop where/when requested, allowing you some breather time to take pictures an continue on your way. if that doesnt work for you, as soon as youre on board, run/ dont walk to the excursion desk and put y our name on the waiting list good luck and i hope you can get on the tour
  17. fredflint, as i have stated many times before, im 76 years old, and technologically deficient . consequently, i have either my 24 year old grandson, or my 51 year old daughter do the (dirty) work for me. having said that, and having read your post thoroughly, i can honestly say " i have absolutely no idea what you're talking about and totally clueless as to how to go about following your instructions (lol) I do seriously thank you for taking the time to respond. in the end, my daughter saved the day, both my wife and i received our visa's with in a few days, hence, the whoopie and phew that now i no longer need to worry about it once we get to Brazil
  18. hopefully we can all meet one day on a cruise and you can lead the geocache
  19. is this like trying to find ducks on board the ship? it's like our mysterious wonder bar, to date, since 2010 and 25 + cruises, i have yet to see one. by the way, (and my wife hates when i say this) dont thank me for my service, i was drafted and the only thing rewarding about being in vietnam, was coming home in one piece
  20. if you get the upgraded drink package, both starbucks and latte's cappuccinos are included. in the alternative, they are offered in most restaurant for an additional charge of $2.95 +tax. i
  21. back thru 1969-1970 i was an infantry squad leader in vietnam, and used a compass daily. to this day (prior to the post) i have never heard the term geochche. when you talk about "scoring one in either england or portugal" to what exactly are you reffering . our cruise this april ends in lisbon. if you clarify exactly what it is, and how to go about finding one, i'll give it a shot. or in the alternative, is it similar to going on a snipe hunt. lol!
  22. you have plenty of time, just call and rebook, or call ncl, since the final day for payment is still months away. remember however, you need to go to id.me to let ncl know youre a vet
  23. if youre in a haven or "suite" just have the concierge take care of it for you. as for entertainment, they usually have a section specifically designated for guests in a suite. if not, after 25 cruises, ive never had a problem getting a seat in the theater, especially when there are usually 2 shows per night, and on rare occasions, only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table in the mdr. realistically, with the number of passengers on the prima, your friend needs to suck it up show some patience and wait in line with everyone else. if he/she doesnt have the patience to stand in line, point out that they have to wait somewhere, may as well be with your group. tell him to get a drink before getting in line
