  1. I was able to book reservations on the Reflection for our March cruise. We were Anytime Dining and I booked times in the MDR and Tuscan. We are traveling to Alaska next month and I’ve had our reservations booked for several months,
  2. You can either scan your passport or enter it manually. Also need to enter a credit card, your address, a contact person not traveling with you. They ask that you take a picture and I did that for our cruise this past March. However, they re-took it at check in. I just entered my info this morning for our June cruise and didn’t submit a picture. Everything went through and I am able to view my Express Pass.
  3. Worked well, Jim. Very interesting information.
  4. This is very disappointing to read. One of the selling features of using a cruise excursion seems to be that the cruise line will offer more assistance than booking a private excursion. The OP is Elite so obviously loyal to the brand. I would have expected more compassion and caring.
  5. Compliments on a great, honest review. I am a grandmother with teenaged grandchildren and have not cruised with small children but enjoyed reading about your children on the ship. You have a great writing style.
  6. While I only have a few alcoholic drinks a day, I get my money’s worth drinking San Pelligrino. I will probably drink 4-5 per day. They are only included on the Premium package.
  7. Sure wish the OP would return with more details. Said the refund is slowly being processed. Did this just occur? I know my TA would be all over this since she doesn’t get paid unless we actually take the cruise.
  8. Hoonah Whale Tours. Small 6 person boat with Captain Joardan. Hoonahwhaletours.com. Doing that for the second time in June.

    Rough seas?

Although it is cheaper to do a round trip from a US port such as Seattle, the chance of rough seas are much greater. I prefer Anchorage to Vancouver or vise versa. That is the true inside passage.
  10. The ship temperature is very comfortable. Never felt the need to dress in heavier clothes. Frankly, Alaska felt like the Caribbean to me inside the ship. I wear lightweight clothes both places but always carry a light sweater or wrap with me.
  11. Back from the Reflection. We LOVED 1120. Balcony was great. Really enjoyed going to the elevators through the library. Always several people working on the puzzles.
  12. So glad you posted this. We board the Reflection in 2 days and 1120 is our cabin. I think we’re going to love it.
  13. You are correct about that. Only soap and water for norovirus.
  14. I’d call Guest Services also. But I just might make a ton of noise at 7:30 am, when I awoke for the day.
  15. While I certainly don’t discount the OP’s experience, it’s surprising to me that so many people reeked of smoke. There are only 2 areas where people can smoke on the ship and certainly not in the casino or any indoor areas, such as rooms. Did the staff ignore smoking in prohibited areas? We are sailing on the Reflection next weekend and I’d hate this to be our experience. Are these things more common on the newer ships, I wonder?
  16. Thanks for that info. We board next Sunday.
  17. I am comfortable in summer tops, either short sleeved or 3/4 sleeves. Sometimes I will have a very light sweater or shrug with me. I also wear summery dresses with a light sweater. Never needed anything heavier than that.
  18. Looking forward to your review. We are taking the same cruise on March 26.
  19. Honestly, I am an overpacker. But for the land tour in Alaska, you don’t need a lot of different outfits. You are going to wear the same jean/pants and sweatshirt for the entire day. You won’t be changing clothes for dinner and will wear the same sneaker or casual shoes all day. Alaska is extremely casual. I’ve learned that from 2 land tours.
  20. I did a 10 day Caribbean cruise 14 weeks after a total knee. I did have an excellent recovery and was discharged from PT at 7 weeks post op. I had no trouble at all, in airports or onboard. I was able to walk the beach in Barbados which really pleased me. Everyone’s recovery is different but my wonderful therapist and my determination really helped. I’m probably a lot older than you also. I was 69.
  21. We took a small bus trip to the Yukon during our first Alaskan cruise. The driver was a woman who was a special Ed teacher in a very small town in interior Alaska. She stopped numerous times during the trip. But the best part was listening to her stories about living and working in Alaska. And several years before our cruise, she competed in, and completed, the Iditarod. It was fascinating to listen to her. So there are wonderful experiences to be had in many ways.
  22. I know a lot of people recommend other travel insurance but after 15 cruises we’re Ok with what Celebrity provides in conjunction with our Chase card and excellent international health insurance. We have looked at it but once you hit 70 age-wise, it’s really expensive. We cruised with friends in the 90’s and the wife had a diving accident in Cozumel. She received excellent care and her health and cruise insurance covered everything.
  23. A few weeks ago we booked a cruise on the Reflection for March. This is our 7th booking with Celebrity in 8 years so we are known to them. Full payment was due the day after booking so we paid in full. We book through a small 2 person Travel Agency. And we have purchased the Celebrity travel insurance for each booking. This past Friday, while checking my charge card, I noticed a credit from Celebrity for $259. Great, I thought. The cruise price went down. But I emailed my travel agent anyway because she always lets me know if anything changes. She took it a step further and called Celebrity to question the credit since she had no knowledge of it. Turns out that Celebrity said they didn’t know the state we lived in so they canceled our travel insurance. Well, it’s the same state we’ve lived in for all 7 bookings. So with no notification they just canceled the insurance, even though my credit card had paid them! If I hadn’t checked my credit card and my agent hadn’t followed up, we would be traveling without insurance. I can only imagine the nightmare that would have ensued if we would have had to make a claim. Just a reminder to question anything that doesn’t seem right.
