  1. That's funny. RCCL is quoting the law, which requires you to have six months remaining. However, even the official CAN www sites advise it's not enforced. If they wanted to deny you entry to Canada because you didn't have the six months remaining then they could. Will they? Probably not.
  2. If all goes well then booking direct might work for you. It's when things go wrong that a good TA is worth their weight in gold. We have used the same TA for 40 years. We could have never gotten a cruise cheaper than what she got it. Plus she always tossed in perks and great advice. The agency was the largest cruise booking agency in northern CA for many years. Twice, I had to call her at the last minutes when we had a death in the family just days before sailing. She did everything for us and even got my FF miles back for me and I hadn't even booked airfare with her. I would never book on my own. Find a good TA and stick with them.
  3. July on Navigator I paid $72 USD when we sailed. I would say $75.99 for a NYE isn't bad. We are doing Wonder for Thanksgiving and that DBP has been $68 to $78. Labor Day sale was $72 then back to $78 the next week.
  4. Are there different HOHO bus routes, which is best? We will be in Paris for few days prior to a river cruise and staying in Saint Germain District. We fly all night from IAH and get in around 8:30 AM. Plan is to drop luggage at hotel and do a HOHO.
  5. That was our experience also in 2000 (wow how time flies). We loved the street market and found a wine shop open where we could buy wine from the barrels. Locals came in with their own bottles, we had to buy some from the shop owner. I recall we found a sidewalk cafe open and ate lunch before we walked back to the ship with some local wine, cheese, olives, meats, etc where we did dinner from our finds. We loved Toulon and walking around the street markets.
  6. Good to know, we are planning to stay in St Germain district pre-river cruise in September 2023. I found reviews that looked good for the Hotel D'Angleterre. Booked three rooms for four nights at around $250 per night.
  7. Here is the best site for train travel just about anywhere https://www.seat61.com/
  8. We live just a few hundred yards from where they do the "Rosarito beach break". Water temps will be mid-high 60's. I wouldn't plan on doing any ocean activities. Baja/CA Pacific coast is never warm. April is the tail end of whale watching, but you might see some. We just sailed in July and spotted a large whale south of Catalina, so you never know. The beach break venue is a really nice place with nice beach and amenities. It's called Sunio Beach Club. We have friends who live in the private community surrounding Sunio and it's a really great location. We have eaten at the restaurant once and it was very good. https://www.suniobeachclub.com/en/home/ Unless you want to do the wine country tour it's probably a good choice for the day.
  9. Agree with the above, just grab a taxi as you exit the airport there will be plenty. Shouldn't cost more than $20 with tip. Since you only have a short amount of time I would stick with USS Midway, it can take you hours. There's a couple of good places to eat in The Headquarters shopping area. We like Eddie V's for dinner. San Diego Burger Co. just at the north end of Seaport Village for lunch is good and then just walk around Seaport Village.
  10. First, the tar pits are very cool. Second, not sure I would attempt it with LA traffic. But, if you do I would get off as soon as you can. The pits don't open until 9:30 AM, but better to be there when they open. There's plenty of places to grab a cup of coffee or food if you're early. I would book an Uber RSVP just to be sure I had an early morning ride. You could wait and book it the day before using the app. If you get there when they open you could easily be done by noon or 1:00 pm and headed back. A good driver will know the several ways back to the port if something crazy happens on one of the freeways.
  11. Just found a bottle of Tesla Tequila in a local shop $1,000.
  12. Thanks we sail on her for Thanksgiving. Did you have a chance to access the suite deck area?
  13. I like how they make the bag out of the thinnest paper they could find so you can't stuff it to full before it rips.
  14. Good to know, I avoid LAX at all cost. But "cost" being what it is I'm flying from there in November to MCO.
  15. We had S1, S2, and S3 (not all on the same cruise) and they were perfect. Close to the restrooms, food, and drink. I walked around and looked at the other cabanas and wasn't a big fan of some of them as they seemed cramped with no space in front. The S cabanas had large beach area in front and were far enough back from the water you still had lots of shade and privacy. Unless it's changed, keep in mind, the restrooms are outside the BB area up that path past S2.
  16. We just used UberXL black at San Pedro and even made a reservation for a specific time. It's more expensive than normal Uber, but with two little GD's and cruise luggage it was well worth it. We have used private limo services a few times and the nice thing is the driver will usually meet you at baggage claim and help with your luggage. I know LAX drastically changed how car hires make pickups so I'm not sure it works the same.
  17. That's why I'm Hilton brand loyal. Hilton has the best CE policy. Big problem with SF is they book huge conventions years in advance, so otherwise reasonable room rates aren't. I booked five rooms at Coco Beach, FL Garden Inn ten months ago for our Thanksgiving cruise. They have been more than double the price for the last three months. In fact, one set of kids can't make it until the second night of the hotel stay. It's cheaper for me to check them in and eat the empty room than rebook for just two nights.
  18. As pointed out free shuttles in SF are like spotting a unicorn. If you are coming from NJ the time change will be favorable, but if getting in late I would stay near SFO and get an Uber the next day to the port. Hotels near SFO can be more reasonable than downtown. On your return, since you are spending a few days, I wouldn't stay near the port. SF is a compact city and I would stay near Union Square. Uber is plentiful and can take you most any where in the city within minutes. Union Square is a great walking area. BTW: it's never to early to RSVP. I get laughed at when I book Hilton a year out. They don't laugh when what I paid is half of what others pay when it gets closer. We leave next week for the Albuquerque balloon fest and the rooms I booked ten months ago are now more than double what I paid.
  19. Shouldn't be an issue and a much smaller airport to navigate. Sunday that time of the morning it should be easy to get over the bridge and into Oakland. When we do long weekends in SF we don't leave on Sunday until closer to 10:30 or 11:00 AM and we breezy (it's SF relative) out of town. Truth be told you will be at OAK before you could be at SFO.
  20. Navigator in July was capacity controlled. I would go when you first get onboard and do all the paperwork and ask about RSVP. Couple of times we had to wait at the door until somebody left so our GD (9 & 7) could go in. Another night we took them up after dinner and they were closed for another 15 minutes. I was going to leave and come back, but the line started to form while we were standing there so we hung out until they opened. By the time they opened there were clearly more kids in line than were going to get in.
  21. Our Thanksgiving on Wonder didn't have excursions for several ports showing until mid-late August. Last year they were there and the next day they were gone. Then they were back. Only "swimming with the pigs" seemed to stay there the entire time. BTW: if you can grab a spot at Maya Chan at Costa Maya do it. We loved our day there.
  22. Not a bad walk or pedicab into Gaslamp and many excellent choices to eat. One of our go to spots is Lou & Mickey's for dinner and Tin Fish for lunch. During COVID when almost nothing was open we found Cafe Sevilla and it's wonderful. Depending on price I would do Hilton Gaslamp first and then Bay Front. https://www.louandmickeys.com/
