  1. As did we - comfort check in had accepted our photos etc but when boarding they said they didn’t have the photos etc & we had to have them taken again. Won’t bother next cruise.
  2. I’ve never not been able to book an included excursion and we have only been in DV cabins. Always managed to get what I wanted.
  3. I’ve just booked Viking Homelands in the last week - I contacted Viking to get costs, any discounts, cabin availability etc. The Viking rep had details of my TA in their files (you could provide that on the phone if they don’t already have it), he put a hold on the cabin I wanted & then I contacted my TA. The TA then confirmed everything with Viking, advised what discounts they could give & we went ahead with booking. By doing it this way I got a further £580 discount from TA.
  4. We recently did The Golden Circle tour with Gray Line and it was one of the best tours we’ve had. Our tour guide was excellent & gave lots of interesting information & facts about all the stops and Iceland overall. He was also very entertaining/humorous. Gullfoss was beautiful & was our favourite stop, although all of the scenery was spectacular. It helped that the weather was bright & sunny if not cold. We did this tour the day we joined the ship having travelled to Reykjavik the day before, following the tour they took us back to our hotel to pick up our luggage, we got a taxi & joined the ship by 4.30. Well worth it & more than half the price of Viking although lunch was not included with Gray Line.
  5. Yes, I thought when reading this thread that Virgin don’t fly into/from Fort Lauderdale but use Miami. I would look at pre booking a car transfer through a website and securing both the price and the taxi for peace of mind.
  6. Many thanks for your responses - it seems as if it may not be as bad as I feared. Going to go ahead and book😀
  7. I’m thinking of booking Viking Homelands in May (18th) 2025 and would be very grateful if anyone who’s taken this cruise around May time could give me an idea of the weather and seas they experienced at this time. Don’t mind covering up and wearing layers but don’t particularly want very rough seas & constant rain, although I do appreciate it’s very unpredictable now. Thanks.
  8. Yes you can - not sure how much you’ll see depending on time of day/night. We’re on the same cruise next week 😀😀
  9. Oh dear - I hope they can get their act together by next week when we board. The food however does look good. Do you think there’s a lot of new crew & have you had any conversation with the restaurant manager?
  10. We’ll be joining Saturn when it arrives in Reykjavik so very interested to hear reports on everything to do with the ship and your journey 😀
  11. I would second that - Barcelona now is too busy.
  12. I’ve now cancelled Gray Line & booked FlyBus with a stop at ‘Bus Stop 4’, which I believe is across from our Hotel - Exeter Hotel. Also saved some cash! Once again thanks to everyone for your input. This Forum is invaluable, so full of knowledge & experience. Countdown now to our Saturn cruise - 13th September 🎉🎉
  13. We are flying into Kevlavik airport for our cruise on Saturn in 3 weeks - we are arriving the day before and have just received an email from Gray Line, advising that they can no longer do the shared transfer which was to take us to our hotel. They have changed the transfer to a coach which takes us to the bus station & then transfers us to a smaller bus, they are also changing the time to 30 minutes later. This has been booked for months and I’m not best pleased🤨, doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence in Gray Line. Can anyone give any recommendations for an alternative they may have used in the past.
  14. That’s awful - my thoughts are also with the whole crew on Mars and indeed across the fleet.
  15. When we booked our excursions at beginning of July they were very prompt opening up at 8 p.m.- i.e. 8 hours difference between Pacific Time & BST
  16. We were near elevators on Deck 5 (5062) & heard no noise at all.
  17. Yes thank you, just watched it again and saw you Dee😀😀 Can’t wait for our next cruise on Saturn in September!
  18. Fab - the next time it’s on repeat I’ll make a point of watching it. As I said ‘claim to fame’ 😀
  19. It was Jane MacDonald - and we watched that show. I remember distinctly part of it showing her in the Winter Garden for afternoon tea - were you there? It could be your ‘claim to fame’ 👍
  20. The last thick brochure we received from Viking came in very handy. My husband had hurt his lower back after a fall and had the brochure tucked down the waist band of his trousers, which he swore helped him when sitting. I had offered to buy him a back support but he swears by Viking 😂😂
  21. Thank you for your great reports & photos. It really seems as if you’ve had a great cruise. You must be very disciplined as, whilst I would have every intention to undertake a report everyday of our cruise, I know that halfway through they would tail off. Kudos.
  22. It’s a great feeling when you get on your connected flight, especially at an airport which is notorious for losing luggage, e.g. Amsterdam, & the App on your phone tells you your luggage is ‘with you’! 🤩🤩
