  1. That's the thing. Nobody knows at the time that their car might be a future collectible. Some are obvious such as sports cars, exotic cars or high performance versions of every day cars. But a regular old family sedan like a 56 Chevy or a cheap imported economy car like a VW Beetle? At the time when there were millions of them roaming the streets, nobody would have thought of it. Makes me wonder what regular old everyday driver from the 1980's & 90's is going to be the next classic, collectible car?
  2. Didn't that also used to have their own engines? I remember when GM started to standardize parts among brands and people would complain that their Oldsmobile came with a Buick engine or their Pontiac came with an Olds engine.
  3. Keep them coming. Love seeing these pics. There is a Concours d'Elegance by Hagerty show in Greenwich, CT - about an hour from me - in early June. I might need to check it out. Not sure if it is as extensive as the Amelia show but the line up sounds impressive as well.
  4. That was my experience with Jack Daniels. Not mixing different stuff but it was first thing I got drunk on at the tender age of 15. Couldn't touch the stuff for a good 30 years later. Just smelling it would make my stomach turn. Even Jack and Coke wouldn't stay down. Wasn't until I started pairing Jack with Ginger Ale what I started to like Jack again. We now have a very cordial relationship (pun intended).
  5. Got it! Made it all the way thru. The list of "first-to-second cousin" stuff did make me go a bit cross-eyed but everything else was well explained. Only had to read one paragraph twice. LOL Two questions: 1) Chuck's brother Bill is not the same Bill that lives in Alabama, correct? And both Chuck and his brother are no longer alive? 2) Whose plan was it to give you up for adoption? Was it J or your maternal grandmother? Or Michigan? I guess that's really 3 questions.
  6. I saw the lenght of the post & skipped right over it to read the rest of the thread. I will now pour myself another cup of coffee, toast an English Muffin, spread some butter and jelly and go back to read that post.
  7. I know several families where both parents were raging alcoholics and some of the children become alcoholics and some never touch the stuff. Weird, since they grew up in the same household enviroment. The only thing I can think of is that those that choose to not repeat their parent mistakes must've had some other positive influence in their lives. Speaking only for myself, you are the only person I know that took this journey. That alone makes it interesting. And sometimes it is very surprising what topics spark interest. I've seen some random topics that go on for pages and pages. That's the beauty of this thread.
  8. The tipping threads did him in? I believe @Tree_skier good friend also posts on these boards so he could pass along any messages to tree
  9. Me too. I usually have to "go" but even when I don't, I can't sit for more than 3 hours in a car. Even with the fancy heated & cooled leather seats with 17,000 seat adjustments & adjustable lumbar support, I still need to get out and stretch my legs. I've owned dozens of cars in my life time, from bare-bone low-end to top-of-the-line high end & it's always been the same.
  10. Click on the little Google Earth icon on the lower left screen. On any screen on the above website. Takes a few minutes to load to my 6 year old laptop but you can see all the destinations if you don't mind scrolling around all over the Earths globe. But no specific information regarding days & times. I didn't install Google Earth on my phone but I'm guessing it works the same.
  11. OK. Thank you for the correction. I certainly do not want to be the one to spread misinformation. I was going off of Royals FAQ page and they use the word "modify" in regards to the Auto Gratuity, giving the impression the $$ amount was changeable, not an "all or nothing" deal. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/onboard-service-gratuity-expense "In the unlikely event that a guest onboard being charged the daily automatic gratuity does not receive satisfactory service, the guest may request to modify the daily amount at their discretion by visiting Guest Services onboard and will be able to do so until the morning of their departure." No wonder there is so much confusion.
  12. Does NY's WCBS reach your area? If so, you must be talking about Lonnie Quinn. He tries to look like he spent the last 18-24 hours in the office, never leaving his desk, pouring over a mountain of data trying to get the exact forecast. It's been a running joke for years. Some will even say the higher the sleeves are rolled up, the more snow we are getting. 😄 All links are safe https://www.cbsnews.com/newyork/news/lonnies-rolling-his-sleeves-up-for-the-winter-storm/ https://twitter.com/thefrankisola/status/690992542171729920 https://www.reddit.com/r/longisland/comments/sf3hxf/lonnies_sleeves_are_rolled_up_looks_like_its/
  13. That is awesome news and I'm sincerely happy for you, especially that they will welcome you into the family. But there is not going to be a test on the above info, is there? 😉😊
  14. I probably should know that but what are the dates of the Bella cruise? I know pre-production work has started on an epic LIVE thread & I'll be on the look out for it but please mention it here once it's up and running. It's one thread I want to make sure I'm keep up to date with as I'm sure it'll be big and fast moving!
  15. Actually, I think it is possible to lower the amount of automatic daily gratuities that part of the cruise fare (not the 18% F&B gratuity). Here's a question I never see asked: Is it possible to raise the amount you pay in auto-grats? I know you can tip extra in cash to the people you see. But say you just want to double everyone's portion, including the behind-the-scenes people as well as the Big Four (stateroom attendant and dining staff) but maintain the current breakdown that they received. BTW, Royal used to publish the breakdown of the auto-grats but I can't find that breakdown anywhere. Not that I looked all that hard but was curious.
  16. I was going to stand outside the ship & poll the passengers as they disembark.
  17. ??? It's the answer to the question. Which is obviously wrong as it's really 10.16545%, give or take .004%. I know this cause I spoke to a guy that knows a guy so just trust me on this! 😉
