  1. You're giving the OP "no respect". Or maybe you're giving Rodney Dangerfield no respect. 🤣
  2. In think everyone should take note of how you pointed out how inefficient this process was .When no one is found with anything while at the same time we hear all these complaints, it has to mean this process is not working while at the same time putting some passengers though unnecessary hassles.
  3. We were on the cruise before yours, so we flew into London and out of Reykjavik. Were both of your flights non-stop? We flew to London (from Newark) by way of Montreal. That would not have been that bad except our first flight was delayed and then had to wait for a parking space in Montreal. We ended up running to our gate in Montreal and the line for boarding had already begun, (not really NCL's fault except they could have found non-stop as we have done that flight that way previously.) We did fly back to Newark non-stop, but again the flight was delayed, and also had the worst boarding process we have ever experienced. (Again, not NCL's fault) And there were some on our roll call who used the BOGO air who were assigned a flight the next day despite morning flights out of Reykjavik that could have been assigned since we were docked there the day before. BTW, what airlines did they assign to you? We went to London on Air Canada and back from Iceland on Iceland Air.
  4. I would second this. We did our very first cruise roundtrip out of Barcelona for our 25th anniversary. And 10 years later, we did a very similar cruise again out of Barcelona as an anniversary celebration.
  5. For Alaska, itinerary should always come first. And I would check if the ship you are choosing has a naturalist aboard.
  6. And who do you think hired them and scheduled them?
  7. Cancel---you have lost some good ports plus you have your doubts about HAL.
  8. Profiling is wrong whether done by the police or the cruise lines. Having the drug dogs sniff everyone's carryons is different than singling out different groups to be searched.
  9. If you are sailing for fjords, the sail into Geiranger is spectacular.
  10. Conclusion---they are in the same industry and pretty much go up or down in unison.
  11. Do you have a doctor's letter explaining that cage and that it will set off the metal detectors? My DW has such a doctor's letter about metal in her elbow, though she has never set off a metal detector.
  12. It is wrong to base the searches on ethnicity, appearance, age, etc. That is not to say they should not do searches based on what the dogs might smell or even totally at random. And it not just the "usual suspects" for being profiled. Back in the 1970s I knew a very pretty young woman who worked a late shift at a postal annex. Whenever she worked, she drove home late. She told me she got pulled over by the police almost every night. And I should point out given the anecdotal evidence of all the posts complaining about smelling pot smoke on Carnival ships, it would seem that what they are doing is NOT working.
  13. One other thought, if your friend does succeed in getting the permission, make sure you get it in writing.
  14. Like I said, I do not have it. And I have in the past used it not only for NCL offers (including the last cruise we were on), but also for other cruise lines. And I had an NCL charge for what we spent over our OBC on our cruise last summer.
  15. What you described is called "targeting". And it is absolutely wrong. I was stopped once in 1970 in what I am sure was targeting. And I am sure the policeman who pulled me over was sure he had me in a place I should not have been. But then he saw my little nametag badge that said I was a census taker and interfering with me in the line of my duty was a crime punishable by a fine or imprisonment. When he did realize I had a good reason to be where I was, he just kept apologizing!
  16. I don't have it. (Blue card) 😢
  17. First thanks for the report. We saw the Donna Summer show. Our reaction was the singers who played her at the various times in her career were all excellent, but this was not a show we would have paid to see on Broadway. I was able to buy the tickets in advance (the 21 days out) by calling NCL. That was for a Prima sailing this past summer, so it might have changed. Great idea cruising to Italy in October. We have been there in the past in the month of August, and it has been beastly hot. Also a comment on Nice. That was our very first port on our very first cruise in 2002. (Actually the port was Villefrance and you could go to Nice, Cannes, or Monaco.) I still consider it about our very best do it yourself port we have ever done. We visited the Matisse and Chagall Museums. Then DW went swimming in the Mediterranean. I was left to watch our stuff. My head was melting in the heat, but DW made it more palatable by putting our stuff down where I could observe several topless French women.
  18. Yes, the damaged return was on paper. This was well before everybody was doing returns by computer. Yes and no for the A and B being on the same sheet on opposite sides. They were, but the firm I worked for had its own A with subcategories for some deductions to help the person interviewing the taxpayer to make sure to get all the pertinent information. But of course the IRS should have figured out that if the line on the 1040 for itemized deductions was filled out there should be an A, the same way they figured out the line for interest was filled out and above the minimum necessary for a B. And actually I figured it our due to my way back high school math teacher as a senior. The textbook had the answers in the back of the book. He once asked who looked at them, which we all of course did. But I was the only one who raised his hand saying yes I did, And they were there for 2 reasons, The obvious one was to check if you solved the problem correctly. The other was if you had no idea how to solve the problem, maybe if you knew the answer you could work it backwards. And that is what I did with that tax return.
  19. And at Trinity College do not miss The Book of Kells.
  20. Absolutely! I started my career in tax. Ended it in banking! Thanks for the invite. I graciously accept. Her's a story from my days as a checker. A client came in and I overheard him say that he had to come in offseason because the IRS had shredded his schedule B. Then my boss gave me his last years' return because the IRS had said the return we had prepared was in error. I went over and over it, and could not find an error we had made. I finally decided to work it backwards from the tax that the IRS said he owed. And the difference was they had given him a standard deduction instead of the itemized deduction we had prepared on Schedule A. I realized then that they had shredded that also, but instead of asking for a new one had defaulted it to the standard deduction.
  21. All I can say is we were not naughty. Unless they were remembering on the embarkation day we tried to go to our cabin before it was ready, pushing through the closed fire doors, but that was several days before our anniversary.
  22. We did not get a boarding number in Southampton for our cruise on the Prima. We all got off the transfer bus, turned in our luggage, and got on the line.
  23. I thought PSA was public service announcement. But now I see it is Pennypinching Sailing Accountants. 😊 Not an accountant, but back in the day that tax returns were not done by computer, I worked for a firm that prepared tax returns. I was the checker and the emergency everything. Can I be an associate member of the club? 😉
  24. Yes, we were serenaded on the Prima for our anniversary (#46). And they also tied our hands together before they sang. Nice piece of cake, but we had already had our dinner so after tasting it we took it back to our cabin.
  25. If you used a Travel Agent, you have to call him or her to get the price reduction. Otherwise as others have said, just call NCL.
