  1. I know the feeling of having a terrible sense of direction. Luckily DW is blessed with a wonderful sense of direction. We were once in Amsterdam on a land trip after our booked river cruise that was supposed to be from there was chartered out. I went out looking for a place to exchange dollars for euros and got totally lost. (DW was in the hotel napping catching up on her jet lag.) I somehow found my way back eventually. And that is only one example of me being lost. I did save us once though on another land trip in Paris. DW had directions for finding our hotel, and it gave a direction to turn instead of left or right. I said there is the sun, and it rises in the East, so with that knowledge we can figure out the direction.
  2. good idea. I hope @Ferry_Watcher sees it and follows through. There are many regulars who know what her job is and would take her advice and might not realize it was a mistake.
  3. That makes sense. Unless a specific country visited on the cruise requires that 6 month rule, there is no reason for it. As long as your passport is still valid, you can use it as id to fly and to reenter the USA.
  4. Amex, even though I have used cruise offers for several different cruise lines over the years, seems to just now give me hotel offers under travel. 😢
  5. Yes, there is a myth that if you book through a TA, the cruise lines will not talk to you and everything from then on must go through the TA.
  6. And it is also possible that while one cruise docks, another may have to tender. I know when we had an overnight in Reykjavik on our cruise this summer, there was a ship that was out at sea and the passengers would have had to tender. I'm not sure, but I think I remember it being a Holland America ship.
  7. And even with the same ports, the times in the port may vary.
  8. Yes, NCL lists Geiranger for the Prima as a tender port, but there is a temporary dock that they use that allows you to walk right off.
  9. Maybe not invisible, but too many of them are just too upfront and loud. Our best one, IMHO, was John Lawrence on Princess on a Baltic cruise. He did let the entertainers entertain, and even got a local troupe of entertainers in St. Petersburg. And he gave very informative port talks, not only covering the Princess excursions, but also what you could do on your own.
  10. And when it went down 5% in a day and the market as a whole was going down, it was not 5% for the market.
  11. It probably means the whole stock market is going up today.
  12. There was once an episode of the tv show The Twilight Zone in which the main character got rid of his anti-lion charm. And then the statues of lions in front of the NY Public Library attacked him. So, be on your guard (or at least if you visit NY City, do not go anywhere near the public library!)
  13. I hope everyone notes the part in parenthesis, closed loop. There are cruises where you will need a passport, and I believe that there are some cruise lines that do require one.
  14. How a government shutdown could affect Thanksgiving travel (msn.com)
  15. Another advantage of an excursion taking you somewhere and then the airport is that it makes you feel as if you are still on your cruise vacation as opposed to just getting to the airport.
  16. Just a note---if you use the BOGO air with a deviation, they will only take you from the airport. (There might be an exception if you book your hotel through them, not sure, but believe there is.)
  17. Thank you. And just out of curiosity where were you supposed to be and where did you end up?
  18. Amazing Grace---I once was lost by now (have been) found (on my cruise ship in a previously unkown port). 😉
  19. LOL, a letter telling you that you are not where you think you are.
  20. What I will say is what they are doing does not seem to be working.
  21. A park ranger will only be aboard for the day at Glacier Bay, unlike a naturalist who will be aboard the entire cruise. We cruised Alaska including Glacier Bay in 2010 on Princess. I still remember how much the naturalist aboard, Michael Modzelewski, contributed to the enjoyment of the cruise. The fact that I still remember his name after all these years should say a lot about what an excellent naturalist can contribute to an Alaskan cruise experience.
  22. With all the reports of the ships "reeking of pot smoke", how can you say it works?
  23. True, but it still says something. You are assuming other searches had different results.
  24. I was about to write the same thing, but you beat me to it by 12 hours. It is a true example of "the operation was a success, but the patient died."
  25. You're giving the OP "no respect". Or maybe you're giving Rodney Dangerfield no respect. 🤣
