  1. And if turned down at guest services instead of having a fit, try going back again and maybe a different employee will accommodate your request. An example--- (this was on a different cruise line) we received a voucher for a bottle of wine, and it said it was from our TA. Now I knew it was not from our TA because it was a cruise line offer and our TA only gives OBC because he knows that that allows his customers to spend it any way they want. I also had called prior to the cruise and was told we could turn it in for an equivalent amount of OBC. When I asked for this onboard, I was turned down the first time. The second time, I was asked who I had spoken with, and honestly could not answer. I was then told that she would have to check on this with headquarters. A day or two later, we received a call that the OBC was going to be given to us to replace the wine voucher. And, BTW, I cited that representative is one of the crew who made my cruise special.
  2. I think it is an outright lie. I can see how they can justify saying free specialty dining since the charge is for tips, but how you can say free excursions for $50 off when excursions are basically (and on our cruise ALL) over $50? But I do agree that the $50 (or in some cases a little less because of a Latitudes discount applied after the $50 off) is nice, but they could just advertise it as $50 off.
  3. And especially if several very large cruise ships are in the port at the same time.
  4. There may also have been a time situation that affected this as I was told that they normally do not give the discounts until after the excursion is finished. However, since they had to give a final bill and our excursion was ending at the airport, it had to be done actually prior to the excursion.
  5. I don't doubt that in some ports, that is possible, but there was nothing close to that on the itinerary between London (Southampton) and Reykjavik.
  6. And they advertise free excursions, which is really $50 off for the first customer. On our Prima cruise this past August there were no excursions $50 or less, so no excursion you could buy even for the first listed passenger were free.
  7. Funny, back sometime I believe last summer, I posted the same thing about the $50 not really being $50 because it came off before your Latitudes discount, and I was really criticized for pointing that out. And that not saving the $5 was what happened on the few excursions we booked pre-cruise. But then on the cruise, we booked an excursion with a museum stop ending at the airport in Reykjavik. And for that excursion my 10% Latitudes discount came off on the entire excursion price, not the price after the $50 had come off.
  8. You really should not let them negatively impact your enjoyment of the cruise. I think the old saying "In one ear, out the other" should apply. JMHO
  9. We received an NCL brochure in 2021, and fell in love with an itinerary on the then not yet built Prima. We booked it with our TA, and sailed that cruise this past August.
  10. About to watch the Dolphins play the Eagles. I'll shall check to see if they seem well fed.
  11. Seriously, was that feature ever functional? And if so, when was it disabled?
  12. As I wrote we used an Alla tour in 2007. Our guide, Viktoria, confided in us that she had gone through all the bureaucratic hoops and was now able to open her own agency starting the next cruise season. And later I learned her agency was named SPB Tours, the one you used.
  13. Only $32 BILLION, maybe they should start a Go Fund Me page. 🤣
  14. Yes, as I posted yesterday, I had previously learned that from reading posts by you. Thnk you for the extra detail and for sharing with all of us your expertise on many cruising topics due to your long experience in the industry.
  15. Yes, what a shame no cruises are now or in the foreseeable future going to St. Petersburg. There are still great ports on a Baltic cruise, but St. Petersburg was the real highlight. Did you take a private tour or a ship's tour. We did an Alla tour with 10 of us that I set up in our roll call.
  16. That is good that they are getting better at that. I actually had to argue with them to get my refund of a prepaid excursion as they said the cruise contract allowed them to cancel any port and I should be happy they were giving me OBC. It took a while to make the phone representative realize it was the shore excursion I was cancelling, and since it was more than 48 hours before the excursion was scheduled for, their contract called for it to be refunded to the original method of payment.
  17. And actually, they were not outlawed in the USA. As has been explained buy @chengkp75, the crew would need a different type of work visa and that would cost the cruise lines more than the normal visa. So, they are not willing to do that.
  18. We had an excursion booked for a port they cancelled. They also said 7-10 business days, but it showed up as a credit on my card much quicker than that. I think it was either 2 or 3 days.
