  1. Yes, exactly right. It's money spent already, and if it is enough to cause financial ruin, it never should have been spent in the first place.
  2. 1. As you have noticed, they are changing itineraries. It is not as easy as you seem to think it is. If they have not got to yours yet, I am sure it is not for lack of trying. 2. Yes, November 1st is getting closer, but you did not just start complaining. In fact, do you have a single post that is not a complaint that you have not been told yet what your options are for your cruise? 3. Somehow, I think your woe is me pales before the concerns of hostages and their families and those who may be trapped in Gaza.
  3. Yes, we set a wake up call on the phone from an interior cabin for the sailing into Geiranger. It does work.
  4. OTOH, if they did keep you on the ship, they could make money with the casino open as well as the shops open. It does look like they have been finding ports (and in competition with other lines that had the same problem.) It's just some want this to be solved immediately despite the complexities of the problem.
  5. And as others have already posted, they can do whatever they want or need to do according to the cruise contract you signed. Others have posted the new itineraries for their affected cruises, and it was not just sailing around and around the Mediterranean.
  6. You were buying a cruise that would now be going into an active war zone. Do you really think that is now something safe to do? Do you realize it is complicated to rearrange ports with short notice? Do you really think that they are not working on this?
  7. That really sums it up. Why would anyone at present want to be transported into an active war zone. 🤦‍♂️
  8. Whatever, I find those of us who enjoyed our Prima cruises are totally mocked. Looking back at my posts, since you have called me a "Prima fan boy", you will see that I felt sorry for your negative experiences with this ship.
  9. I agree with those who say just reapply for the credit. One other thing that you should also watch out for is will the required deposit change if you would now be under a new fare code. You could have the entire cruise cancelled! I know we once had a price drop, but it required a higher deposit. When our TA warned us of this, we took the price drop and made sure to pay the extra deposit.
  10. I would go further than you did and say that NCL (and all other cruise lines dealing with this issue) are MORE inconvenienced than any particular passenger.
  11. Agree, but that seems to be the old two wrongs make a right argument. If it makes you feel better, all cruise lines do not operate that way. In 2021 we booked an NCL cruise for 2023. In the time between those dates, they raised the gratuities (they call it a DSC). They did give all affected the opportunity to prepay them at the old rate.
  12. Somehow, I don' think the ethics issue bothers the poster you are quoting at all. But the second point you make is one he or she might want to take into account before trying that maneuver.
  13. I should add it was probably expensive, but not nearly what NCL excursions cost. DW said to buy it. so no choice, my credit card had to come out. Everything in this part of the world is expensive. At the airport in Reykjavik, DW needed cough drops, and we finally found some. I paid for them not knowing the cost when it would be converted to dollars and cents. When I got the credit card bill, it was basically $6 for a pack of cough drops (and they were all stuck together as they were not individually wrapped.
  14. But you have to understand that there are posters who enjoy criticizing the Prima at every available opportunity. 🤦‍♂️
  15. I don't remember how much it cost, but significantly less than cruise line tours. Yes, there were stops along the way, lots of picture taking.
  16. It was a much shorter tour than that. Yes, tours are sold at the port. There are buses that go out to do tours. You buy a timed ticket for the tours.
  17. Yes, I agree putting it in the theater would be a change for the worse. It would be a totally different experience. In another thread about Syd Normans, I mentioned how I got to speak with two of the singers; I can't see that happening if it was in the theater.
  18. Personally, I would feel I lost a lot by not actually seeing them and only hearing them. But thanks for the explanation.
  19. JMHO, but I think "a large number of people experience a hellish nightmare from which there is no escape" is an overstatement. I do feel for you that you had major problems, but I think a "large number" is not really true.
  20. You're welcome. And here's the review on these boards that I wrote. I think it would be fair to say it is on the whole positive, but does say somethings negative. After all, nothing is perfect.
  21. Thanks, so I see it is larger on the larger ships. I would guess though that is less intimate. And what do they mean by Waterfront when referring to capacity?
  22. It's a wonderful ship, and that's a great itinerary (that we sailed this past August.) People seem to really enjoy criticizing this ship.
  23. On our last cruise, passengers were told when a photo id was required as well as the ship card to take their drivers license. We leave the passports on the ship unless required by the port (such as St. Petersburg back when it was a popular cruise port) or we will be on an excursion that requires it (such as one that crosses a border.) We have even been on a ship that collected the passenger passports at the beginning of the cruise. (It was an Eastern Mediterranean cruise on HAL.)
  24. We were once on a cruise that had to take 2 extra days to get back to Fort Lauderdale because of a hurricane. The captain at one point took us closer to the storm so passengers would have cell phone service to call TAs, airlines, or people at home. And it was somewhat rocky. I was in a different cruise group back then, and I read someone posting that he had heard at that point passengers all over the ship were throwing up in the elevators. I said no, I was on that ship and that did not happen. He, though he had not been on the ship, kept arguing with me. 🤦‍♂️
  25. Well, I stand for rock and roll. The only time I did get a seat at Syd Norman's, my body would not stay seated. But, if the venue itself is basically the same size, than it is better for a ship with about 1000 less passengers.
