  1. OK, a floating dock, not a temporary dock. I was just commenting on it did not look like a permanent structure. As for the Prima, Isafjordur was skipped every cruise for the London (Southampton) to Reykjavik (which we did) and every cruise with that itinerary in reverse. For our sailing, the Captain when questioned said there were too many passengers to have the ship tender there. I also remember a post from someone who did the cruise before us posted that the Captain said the ship's lifeboats were not certified for tendering.
  2. Whether they have issued a statement or not before they find alternative ports, no cruise line in the near future is going to sail out of or into Israel. Just like no cruise ship has sailed into St. Petersburg, Russia for the last several years despite it was the main selling point of Baltic cruises and more often than not an overnight port.
  3. I can't really answer because we did not tender. NCL listed Geiranger as a tender port for the Prima, but we docked. There seems to be a temporary dock. So, are you sure you are tendering? Depending on what ship you are on, maybe you can ask for the experiences of those who sailed on that particular ship.
  4. Glad to hear it finally worked out. It really is a shame that it had to take three tries. All the excuses they gave you for rejecting it the first times seemed to be made up, just something said to get you off the phone.
  5. Did they release any type of statement explaining how turning the waters into their personal sewer system helped stop "cruise ship pollution"?
  6. Let me get this straight. They were protesting your ship polluting their waters by defecating and urinating in the water. Somehow that does not make a lot of sense.
  7. Why alienate those who already own 100 shares? It is a marketing tool that costs them next to nothing. There is no reason to change it.
  8. The TA would have to give up the booking, which I am sure is not happening. However, that should be the last time that TA is used. Sometimes it is too bad that we cannot name TAs. (Note this is not a criticism of the CC rules, just an observation,)
  9. I actually had one WOW moment on our last cruise. Let me say that we are not "caviar people". In fact, on our first cruise DW said near the end of the cruise, "I miss peanut butter and jelly". On our last cruise night, we decide to eat in a dining room that featured comfort food. We both had fish and chips with DW starting with a Caesar salad and I started with pretzel bites with a cheese fondue. And then my WOW moments came when we were given the dessert menu. A hot fudge sundae! 😊 DW said you are not going to eat all of that are you? You'd think she would know me better considering we had our 46th wedding anniversary a few days earlier on the ship.🤣
  10. Yes, it is really going to be difficult for any cruise line with a port stop in the near future to find alternate ports. And they will be competing with each other to obtain those ports. And rescheduling the embarkation port if it was to be in Israel will be a real nightmare for both the cruise lines and their passengers. I wonder what policies will be adopted concerning passengers who may now wish to cancel their cruises.
  11. Or ask what benefit if any was received by using that code to book the cruise.
  12. No cruise is going there any time in the near future. I hope we do not hear the same complaints as when all cruise lines rightfully cancelled all port stops in St, Petersburg.
  13. I wore tie dye tee shirts on our NCL Prima cruise this past August. Took advantage of free style. 😊
  14. Yes, and I responded with a Baltic cruise on Princess. As for NCL, we really enjoyed out Prima cruise this past August, though it would have been better if 2 of the original 8 ports had not disappeared. In 2012, we did a 35th anniversary Western Mediterranean cruise on the Epic. The Epic was far too big, and I found it unfriendly. However, the ports were special as we finally got to go to Florence. We had missed that port on our initial cruise 10 years earlier for our 25th anniversary when I got us on the train going the wrong way from Livorno. Bad thing to do when your wife is an art teacher (now retired.) Even though we were more experienced and probably could have at that point done it on our own, we booked the NCL Florence on Your Own Tour, and DW pre-booked the 2 major museums with timed tickets.
  15. No way you will find one if you do not try! They really are out there. I'm sure Covid put some of them out of business. I know mine once told me if he had known how bad it was going to get, he would have got out of the business. As it was he basically laid off all of his staff except one person.
  16. That does seem to be a cultural difference that is at least partially fueling this discussion. In Europe, generally when you see a price it includes the VAT tax. In the US, at least here in NY State, when you see a price it does not include any applicable sales tax. One is used to paying more at the register than was the merchandise price.
  17. You are not limited to mortar and brick TAs in your hometown. There are plenty of TAs online. I know we have a good one (though the rules do not allow me to name him or his firm.) Wishing you good luck finding one that you will be happy with.
  18. Yes, it is a marketing tool that costs them next to nothing. There is a good reason that they routinely extend this benefit to shareholders.
  19. The problem that could arise is that the some or all of the excursions might be sold out.
  20. What ship were you on? I assume it was not the NCL Prima.
  21. We had a walking tour of the town with an emphasis on the art deco architecture. It was in the morning, and if I remember correctly, there were 12 of us on the tour.
  22. We were there on the NCL Prima this past August. What a spectacular sail in, though DW (the family picture taker) wished it was less cloudy.
  23. Baltic cruise for our 30th anniversary. St. Petersburg was such a fantastic port, and it is truly sad that no one will be going there as a tourist any time soon or possibly ever. Tallinn, Estonia is a gem. We truly enjoyed Oslo a destination most cruises did not go to. And the only problem with Stockholm was there was too much we wanted to in the short time we were there.
  24. And who defines those things? Years ago during a shutdown, we had to loan money to a sister-in-law especially as college tuition was due for her son. She worked for the IRS.
