  1. You should be looking at the time that they say is all aboard for passengers, not the departure time. It is usually about 1/2 hour before departure time. And to give yourself a margin of error, you should aim to be back before that time, a half hour or maybe an hour depending on your tolerance about missing the ship.
  2. That was our very first port on our very first cruise back in 2002. We almost missed it as we overslept (jet lag) and just got the last tender. We had a great day in Nice visiting museums. And then DW went swimming in the Mediterranean. She enjoyed that, but said the place she had to change it to her swimsuit (a bathroom at the beach I think) was the most disgusting place she had ever been.
  3. We had the one day deviation for our August 6th cruise from Southampton. The transfer from Heathrow remained on our invoice, and we were on their list when we found them the next day at the airport. Even though I was told when we booked an excursion to the airport (as DW said we were not spending that many hours at the airport) and they said the original transfer would come off automatically, I had to go and ask for it to be removed.
  4. On one card, I call the 800 number that I use to pay them when I do not pay at my local bank. On the other that I generally do things online, I use their chat. They thank me, though sometimes say it is not necessary. I do think it cannot hurt and is worth it for the little time and effort put in.
  5. I wish I could give you both a like and a thank you, so here is the thank you. It's nice to know I am not alone in not wanting a smartphone. Those who cannot do without them seem to have no tolerance for anyone not addicted to a smartphone.
  6. Syd Normans was great on our cruise. As for the negative reviews, there is always somebody who can manage to dislike anything. Ignore.
  7. The one time we were given a pager at Hudsons and told a waiting time (I don't remember how long), we also were called for a table within a few minutes.
  8. It's just a credit. If you are asking why they give the credit, I can only speculate about their reason. Maybe it is easier for them if they do not have to get everyone using BOGO in on the same day. Or maybe they are glad it alleviates much of the risk of delayed flights causing their passengers to miss the cruise.
  9. Interesting data, but it did not mention museums. That is where we basically found that we could not use our Euros.
  10. If you had been on our cruise (Prima August 6-17), all of your Los Lobos reservations would have been cancelled. They reserved it for a group the entire cruise, I believe they made it into a Kosher restaurant. They sent out an e-mail saying that anyone with a prior reservation had it cancelled.
  11. And I can confirm that the band was on the Prima last month. I even got to talk to 2 of the singers. I told them of some of my experiences at the original Woodstock festival.
  12. No, it just comes off your invoice. BTW, even if you do a 1 or 2 day deviation, they will only transfer you from the airport. Our cruise was from Southampton. If we had not chosen to stay at hotel by Heathrow, we not only would have had to take our luggage to London, but also take it back to the airport in order to get the transfer.
  13. And not that credit is for the first passenger and not the second. They consider the second as free.I believe but am not sure it would also apply to a 3rd passenger.
  14. Note, I somehow ended up quoting myself, but this was really supposed to be in response to post #13 by JeffElizabeth.
  15. Were you in Amsterdam? That is where we had trouble using Euros, basically at museums.
  16. Our NCL Prima cruise had an overnight in Reykjavik, and then we disembarked the next day. The next cruise did start from there.
  17. Maybe they have an early opening just for the tour groups.
  18. I guess we were lucky with the weather. The only rain we had was on our pre-cruise day in London and our disembarkation day in Reykjavik. (We did the cruise before yours that went in the opposite direction.) In Alesund, we did an excursion that highlighted the art deco architecture in that village.
  19. We were on the NCL Prima, and for us Reykjavik was not a tender port. However, we did see a Holland America ship in port that was not at the dock, so their passengers would have had to tender.
  20. We were once in Corfu on a Holland America ship. There were 3 ships, 2 of which were Holland America ships, and only 2 berths. Our ship ended up being the one that tendered.
  21. You can no longer just show up for anytime dining? Wow, another reason to no longer even consider Princess!
  22. I can confirm that it was lightning fast on the NCL Prima on 8/6.
  23. Another good reason to no longer consider booking a Princess cruise (formerly my favorite cruise line.)
