  1. Cost of drink package: $78/day/person....12 night cruise: $1872 for drinks Don't get drink package and buy 4 drinks/day @ $14 each.....$1344 for drinks Have diamond status - cost per drinks....first $1344 free. $14/drink 5 and over daily. 3 night cruise on Celebrity in cheap inside cabin...$350/person so $700....round it up to $1200 to cover things like parking at the port, gas, tips, incidentals and you took a 3 day cruise and still save a couple hundred min on your 12 day cruise. Plus you got to spend more time at sea. And before you say "I would never drink 4 alcoholic drinks in one day" remember...if you want a cappuccino at breakfast or with desert....that counts as a fancy pay for it drink. Or if you feel a little sluggish and want a coke or a redbull.....gotta pay for those too.
  2. We took a 5 night to Bermuda via a free casino comp 2 weeks before we went to Alaska because it would mean we were diamond plus in Alaska.....so not that unusual to do if the next tier is important. Considering the drink vouchers being diamond can be a big perk for some.
  3. With the drink package you get a significant discount on wine by the bottle on board. They also have multiple wine lists ;). If you talk to the Sommelier in the MDR he can/will show you everything available. You may be surprised. You can usually get his interest without even asking for him.....you can get the wine list from the waiter and then say something off hand like "gosh I was really wishing for a nice Malbec tonight"......he'll come running.
  4. Yup, that's how I usually do it. Just forgot in the MDR...and it bit me 😉
  5. As to be expected because of signal transit time to the Satellites ....4 hops...UP from ship and then down to land and then back up and down to ship on the return trip.....this is why gamers don't play on sat connections 😉
  6. Makes it easy when you travel with 4 d+ to get a couple nice portraits 😉
  7. Well....when booking the Royal suite on vision....you get personal walk aboard from the concierge, early access to the stateroom, top tier even invite regardless of C&A Status, and in my experience it has always been nice...personalized service from the concierge for me and my family. The few times I asked for things...like help to get off the ship quickly at a port, they always told me to come to the lounge or hang our in my room till a time I wanted to get off and then they personally made sure we got right off with no line waiting. So there are benefits. Last cruise he also made a reservation for me on the first day of the cruise to 'book out' chefs table on a specific night of my choosing so I could treat my party of 11 to a very private dinner.
  8. Works fine, you just need to pay close attention. Got home from Alaska earlier this week and discover the one night in the MDR that I didn't buy a bottle of wine, I was charged for drinks (when they should have used my diamond vouchers).....not going to quivel over $45 but if I had been paying closer attention I could have had the concierge fix it prior to the end of the cruise.
  9. I took 2 bottles on enchantment in July....they didn't charge me to open them at Chops or at the MDR. The one at Chops was a 22 yr old bottle the waiter didn't know how to open a older soft cork on an old unfiltered wine, he destroyed the cork (most went into the bottle) and then because it was an unfilited bottle it had a lot of sediment in it from storage on side....long story short he refused to pour it for us saying it was bad. I didn't feel like fighting with him.
  10. My 11yr old is over 200 points....she asked me if I thought we would get to be PIN before she was 18...... I lied and said sure.
  11. Thank all the spammers and thieves in the world constantly evolving how they rip people off. If these people only invested the same time and effort into positive constructs imagine how much better the world we live in could be.
  12. Check you spam as well....I sail on Serenade on Sunday and just go concierge email around 8:30 EST tonight.
  13. I like breakfast in Chops on the smaller boat. We usually sail suites, but as we get older we want to take more and more advantage of the free offers we get and not always upgrade. For example we took a free Jr Suite last month, just port fees and taxes....but because we weren't pins yet 😞 we couldn't eat in chops for breakfast. Once we reach Pin level, it doesn't matter what room you book....you always sail like you are in a suite (with regard to things you can do around the boat)
  14. They handed me mine on the boat while I was on board.
  15. Holland House Beach Hotel.....super nice bar/restaurant right on the main boardwalk drag downtown. Easy to get to from ship (water taxi to downtown). Shady, breezy and tastey
  16. Do you get any casino offers? We sailed for Spring Break and have another sailing next week. Right after spring break we realized we were 3 nights short of diamond plus....and the casino gave us a free Jr Suite on enchantment to Bermuda for a 5 day trip that we could make work since it included a sat and a sunday.....BOOM....now we are diamond plus for a 7 night cruise to Alaska next week.
  17. With me standing behind you rolling my eyes waiting for you to finishing picking over the whole 10 lb pile so I can just take it all 😉 i kid....i kid......
  18. I always get the same thing for breakfast ;). MDR, Chops or Coastal... 3 eggs over easy, bacon, sausage, hash brown, white toast, danish, and a cappuccino, the wife is always ordering different things. My kids.....they are a pain.....Chops and Coastal they always special order crepes with nutella and strawberry....usually takes a day or two for the staff to get everything they need to made them....but they pull it off. It all started on Anthem when the head waiter was like "hey Louis (my son)....how about I make you something super special for breakfast today"....since then its all he wants every morning on a boat.
  19. If you want Eggs Benedict you will want to go to the MDR. If you were in s suite I would tell you to go to chops ;). I find waiting for fresh eggs in the windjammer to be irksome at best. I prefer to sit, order, sip coffee, munch a danish and enjoy polite conversation while waiting.
  20. I don't understand the question? Chops Breakfast is a suite only thing on ships without a coastal kitchen though.
  21. When I look at that cruise on another website...it shows only an owners suite and some grand suites available.....so....if its close to sold out, they have no reason to discount a close in sailing.
