  1. Cabin steward comes back on duty at around 3pm and has there clip board where they start going from cabin to cabin checking in for special needs, dining times, request for ice, etc. they will be in area also from early seating time making nightly turn down through 9pm when they disappear.
  2. We had 6 back to back this year and only two required the change. One was only 3 cabins down and same attendant on both cabins but other on another deck. Have seen when a distance is required most have moved hanging items by using the chrome clothes cart like many hotels. Most attendants gladly grab up hanging items then wisk the cart down the corridor to the crew elevators and to the next cabin. Have seen many times silk type blouses and other items that. easily slide off hangers laying in corridors. We ordered basis thin white plastic suit zip bags , I think 12 for $10.00 on amazon. On move day use two or three for all hanging items , all items out of site ,secure from dropping off cart. The plastic bags come in handy for placing between items for wrinkles in suit case . 3. One thing we do might help in your situation. We started cruising in 1991 and I guess we have seen most of the bad happening. We always carry a carry on like most with med, computers ,jewelry a couple changes of basic underclothes /pullovers. We cross pack in our two checked bags putting half of mine and my wife's in each. Gives you better odds of loss/damage on both bags. It would not be pretty if each had there own and mine arrived and my Bride's was lost. Bob & Nancy
  4. AS GTO Girl and crewsweeper said there are no cruise people to take your luggage. there are around twenty porters right at the luggage drop off.You can drop your luggage there and they will sit it on the concrete next to the steel cargo binds they fill with luggage. You might get a porter who just rights it off with No Tip or one who tears off the tag and sits it around the side. You will not see it on the ship and when you get back it might be in the unkown luggage in lost and found with alot of luggage people leave at car when unloading. Is it really worth The $2.50 tip per bag?Over our 31 years of cruising in ports like Miami when you were on a line with multiply ships and ports your ship is going east route and your luggage ends up going west.
  5. Thanks will try if a taxi in not available. Only 2.5 miles
  6. Hi fellow cruisers. We have taken many cruises from the port but will be leaving at terminal 5 and returning to terminal 1 and being back to back the line will not be running a shuttle the second cruise. We want to drop our luggage the first cruise at terminal 5 and drive to terminal 1 and leave the car for our return in two cruise and get a taxi back for the 2.5 mile trip to terminal 5. Does anyone know of a local Taxi that does short pickups at the terminal. Many advertised but mostly longer shuttles fro hotel ,airport etc. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Bob & Nancy. The Villages, Florida. also never used a Uber
  7. Have mushroom soup also on day one MDR menu. Also on chops twice last month
  8. Harmony did a coast guard inspection on June 12th,( but in port Canaveral) and delayed all boarding by about 40 minutes
  9. Thanks Mikew0805 for the info. Sorry if you are going this weekend that you missed a day. Had our extended on Mariner for last storm and shortened 8 hours on mariner in Bermuda.
  10. Anyone aboard or those sailing this weekend have any info on the Independence return today. The Jacksonville Coast guard control still has Port Canaveral closed but port message says they are inspecting prior to opening. Both the Carnival Liberty and the Disney wish have moved within 75 miles of the port but Independence still show on cruise mapper as near Freeport.
  11. They still had the same pay as you leave at terminal 5 a few weeks ago for mariner. They are some signed that say you can pay in advance at a machine but haven't found them in the last six visits there . All traffic has to exit the same three lanes coming off the ramp in the garage and the big holdup is the 3 toll collection machine. In the last few weeks they have placed several more attendants that walk back through the exit line with portable scanners and you can pay and show your receipt. Only a few minutes backup the last visit.
  12. We were on the Harmony last week and got our 1050 milestone. Called pinnacle dept Sunday gave them our info as had no letter or number they verified it and booked a 2C on Wonder May21,2023
  13. Haven't seen one of the most senior Captains since the fall on Mariner. Thor Olsen
  14. Thanks to all for your responses. Got one on amazon for $.9.99 that replaces old 3 plug converter with plugs and 2 charging ports. Just to advise on cruises the last three weeks passed the confiscated table leaving 18 in Fort lauderdale and Canaveral #1 and many corded units confiscated. Looked like anything with a cord and all surge protectors taken if they were able to see them at checkin.
  15. Hi cruisers: have seen photos of this many times but now since Ive come into the modern era need to find one with multi outlets and a couple of usb ports. Thanks in advance . Bob & Nancy
  16. They us 29 also but not for Oasis class. Freedom class down. In canal behind celebrity and Holland.
  17. Anyone know where CAPT. TOR ISAK OLSEN has disappeared to.?
  18. Just a little note for anyone driving down to their cruise in the next week or so. Noticed our semi annual flying pest the last couple days which usually come in May & Sept. If you get them on the paint of the front of your vehicle and let them remain on there a week or so they release a substance that will discolor or eat away paint. We always bring a couple bottles of water and a throw away cloth and check the front of vehicle when we park in garage. Safe travels and good health to all. Nancy & Bob. The Villages, Florida
  19. Only ParkN Go I know of is in Ft. Lauderdal and is great. They are in 8 cities
  20. The window opens at 832am and so far the local forecast calls for our am weather to be a go and not getting our daily storms into later in the day. The viewers will be getting to the coast early to get a spot and should not be a problem 95 to 528 or the beachline 528 East bound after 1000am. After the shot they will be heading away from the coast. Mariners garage is Terminal 5 and only has passengers from returning Burmuda so is empty unlike terminal 1 that has Indy and Harmony and fills up quickly
  21. Can anyone advise if they have converted the parking Garage at pier 5 to pay on entry yet? Parking administration advised last month it would be converted when equipment arrives to end the big backup when you leave and each person has to stop and pay. Nancy and Bob The Villages , Florida
  22. Of the four a few blocks from the Ferry terminal in Hamilton ,which would you recommend. Passed on the Crown & Anchor as more of a fine dinning for dinner. Hog Penny, Spot Restaurant, Pickled. Onion. and lost triangle. Bob & Nancy. the villages , Florida. Sept 3rd trip on Mariner
  23. We had MTD for over 25 cruises since Aug 21 but our experience completly changed in march and april. We did 3 back to back on the Mariner in late March and did three more BTBnin late April. WE always get reservations for 730 months ahead as we know ships entertainment etc and change while aboard if needed. The problem first started as the compass gave early seating a 30 minute window on the start and many came in 30 minutes to 45 minutes late and when the 1st my time arrive a large number of 1st seating were still at the tables. Lines. backed up over ramp between elevators all the to the art displays and they coverted the left reservation line to both being first come first served.THis occurred next two nights and saw maitre d and got changed to second seating deck five where we have stayed. Noticed in April had same problem several nights but cleared up around 800pm. They took some larger groups in line at my time and moved them to some available tables in late seating on several nights. Never had the problem until the overlaped 1st seating which is usually completly full and my time and not enforcing arrival times to 15 minutes. Also when many got aboard and saw show times hundreds just showed up and got in both lines 15 minutes before my time opened.
