  1. Yes, I read the reviews of Gift of Rain and expect the atrocities unfortunately. Thanks for the info on Gardens of the Evenings Mists. I will look for that. I'm glad you like this writer. I think I will too.
  2. Thanks for that. I looked at Gift of Rain and have downloaded it onto my Kindle. It looks very interesting.
  3. The options sound really exciting! It almost makes us wish we hadn't cancelled. We can hardly wait to find out what's in store for you. Enjoy!😊
  4. That's interesting. Did Mr. Torstein say what ports might be included if you go around?
  5. Also, with the $25 deposit (albeit, a slightly higher cancellation penalty), you can't lose. It's a win for us. Book it, insure it and look forward to it. 😊
  6. We have found that it has to do with the itineraries. The most popular ones seem to jump in price fairly quickly. We book early -- pretty much as soon as new dates are posted -- and we often look at current prices and never regret it. So far, there have been no exceptions to this strategy.
  7. Yes, our cruise next week is up by a small amount. Our cruise in April has increased by 60%. Our cruise for 2025 has increased by 40%. It's sort of like playing the stock market when you book.
  8. I should add that the times will show up on the calendar on MVJ if you have something booked on a particular day.
  9. These are usually found on your invoice.
  10. Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes is one of my all-time favourites. That, and In A Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson -- one of the funniest books about Australia. Enjoy! (I know I would 😊.)
  11. Thank you, and thanks for your input!
  12. @TayanaLorna When we arrive in Macapa at the mouth of the Amazon River, we will be at latitude 0.04N. We will still be in the Northern Hemisphere. However, once we reach Santarem, we will be at latitude 2.46S. We will have crossed the Equator. If we did this at sea there would be a ceremony. For first timers (this includes us), this is an accomplishment. Was there a similar celebration on the River?
  13. Matsumoto is about a 3 hour trip by car and around a 5 hour trip by train from Tokyo. I suppose it’s doable as an overnight. Looks beautiful! We will go to Mt. Fuji when the ship stops at Shimizu.
  14. We often have the excursions loaded onto MVJ well before 120 days. Occasionally, they've been there 5-6 months before sail date. But it's almost always well before 120 days. Also, it is the rare occasion where we can't book excursions before the opening time for our category. Sometimes it's a few hours; sometimes a couple of days.
  15. VERY interesting video. I was interested in the idea of first class being replaced by business class and his insights that economy is just there to fill up the plane. Thanks for posting this!
  16. Thanks. I didn't see the movie, but read about the dog.
  17. Free luggage forward. Maybe we're only seeing half of it. 😊
  18. πŸ˜‚ Those are probably the things people walk away with most as "souvenirs". It shows you how good the binoculars are.
  19. @FetaCheese If it’s no trouble for you, could you please post photos of the room service menu and the breakfast door knob menu.
  20. Haha! Thanks, but no.
  21. We will be in Tokyo in April. We have a private guide for the 3 days we are there. We need to come up with an itinerary for him. Any suggestions on what's not to be missed in Tokyo? Thank you!πŸ™‚
  22. The Dubrava Falconry Center was one of the best excursions of our back to back in May/June of last year. Also the included Ancient Olympia tour. We had a very knowledgable and interesting guide.
