  1. That's really odd. We did the same as Mich3554 on a previous cruise and it worked. They must have changed things.
  2. That's a great idea! I'll look forward to the answer.
  3. Thank you. Very much appreciated.

    Brazil visa

I'm trying to independently verify it, but no luck so far. If anyone has a link to official information, it would be much appreciated.
  8. Do you have a source for this information?

    Brazil visa

On the Regent board: Quick update for everyone following this closely - we were just notified from the Brazilian government that they have postponed the date the eVisa goes into effect to April 10th, so for any of you on a sailing between now and then, you can rest easy as the eVisa is no longer necessary! https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2977251-brazil-evisa/page/4/#comment-66685545

    Brazil visa

Believe me we all know that. The problem is that this visa application process is very, very difficult. The company handling it, VFS, is very unresponsive. On our roll call there are only 4 people who have it (that would include my husband and I). At the moment you can't board without it and rightly so, as our cruise ends in Manaus. All the cruise lines are having problems with it. HAL has arranged for someone to board at Macapa for their World Cruise and as long as you have an application number, the government officials will assist in processing it. It would be nice for the have-nots to hear something from Viking. At the moment, we'll be sailing on a half-empty ship in 2 weeks.
  12. I can only speak to the East Coast of Canada. August and September is really wonderful. There have been 2 or 3 years over many years where we have had to go inland to escape a hurricane. But that is definitely our favourite time of year on the East Coast. Enjoy!
  13. When we were on the second leg of our Med cruise last year, the demographic was much younger than on the first leg. There were many young-aged tour groups and families and it was a lot of fun to have them on board. One of the bartenders said that the day before the groups boarded, there was a food and beverage staff meeting and by the time the meeting had ended they all knew who the kids were that couldn't be served. But the patrons over 21 could order and then give it to the person under 21, which would absolve Viking of any responsibility πŸ₯‚
  14. That's interesting. We really like Manfred's. We sail in a couple of weeks and we're looking forward to seeing what's new. Thanks for that! And, given your reviews, I think we will be trying out the restaurant more often too.
  15. I guess if you book excursions sooner, they will get the money sooner. Maybe it's all about cashflow?
  16. I just went and checked our future cruises and that is correct.
  17. Same. It's something to do if there's nothing else to do. But you probably have enough to do getting ready. We might try it again for our Amazon cruise in a couple of weeks.
  18. That's really nice. I wish that would happen to us. We are on the 2nd-last leg of a very long cruise. I look everyday to see what's sold out -- only a couple of things so far. We're on a 5 week journey, which requires a lot of planning and contingency planning as well. Here's hoping you are able to book everything you're interested in.
  19. LOL. That's happened to us before too.
  20. I wonder if it has to do with the number of servers on shift. I have noticed that they do tend to seat everyone in the same area for a 6:00 serving and then another area for a 7:00 serving, etc. To group people together in one area would make it easier on the servers. I don't think we've ever sat on the port side in the restaurant. I will make a point of checking it out in a couple of weeks.
  21. A very good thing. I'm also looking forward to it! Enjoy!
  22. We’re doing the same route in March 2025. Might I ask how you routed your flight home from Bali? To return to Toronto we are thinking we will take Emirates from Dubai as that is a nonstop and Emirates seems to have a good product. Thread drift, but it might be helpful to others too 😊
