  1. It's standard. However, there will probably be more choices with Air Plus. When your flights are posted on MVJ, you have the option to change - some flights with additional cost; others without.
  2. For USA residents, the main reason is the favorable exchange rate. Second reason could be increased travel with lightening of Covid test requirements.
  3. We just bought some from WF about 10 days ago. We were told 2-3 days, but it took 6 days. When we picked them up, we were told there is a heavy demand so I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes 2 weeks.
  4. Similar situation here. We flew out 4/6 and delayed getting the 2nd booster because we were afraid we might test with a false positive if we got boosted so soon before flying.
  5. How did you get your second boosters in February when the FDA didn’t approve them until March 29? https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/
  6. We did this cruise last November, and the hotel was the Tivoli Lisboa. Viking still shows it for the extension, so they’re probably still using it for the included 2 nights. Great hotel and breakfast - and a businessman’s lunch special weekdays which costs about half the price of dinner. Lunch reservations are a must.
  7. Sorry, but if you read the terms and conditions when you originally booked, you would have seen the following or something similar: Warranties and Fitness: You warrant that you and all other Passengers traveling in your party are physically, emotionally and otherwise fit to undertake the cruise or cruise tour; that you and they have received all medical inoculations necessary; I copied and pasted the above from my T&C document dated November, 2019 (also attached). Similar language appears in my other pre-Covid T&C documents. None of this has anything to do with risk free - the T&Cs issued at any time gives Viking the right to require inoculations, which would include vaccinations for Covid. This is a standard requirement as outside of Covid, some countries require other inoculations. Don’t blame Viking as the requirement was always there. vrc_us_contract.pdf
  8. Usually no. - but you should be able to check your luggage u til the room is ready.
  9. I don’t recall pictures, but we had a quick meal in the McD on Torggaten where we were the only English speaking people at the time. We did go back too. There was another McD closer to the fish market - likely you were at that one as it is more cozy looking.
  10. No, it doesn't really save money - but for someone from the U.S. who has at least one Viking cruise booked (river and ocean can be mixed), a $25pp deposit is incentive to book now as there is much less risk if you change your mind - or a better offer comes around. I agree that when Viking advertises a low fare, they should indicate sailing dates as prices can vary greatly.
  11. You're correct - but my problem (and I'm sure others) were well within 30 minutes. The second and third tries were at most 5 minutes.
  12. I had the same problem. Tried 3 times to change a return flight to a later time using MVJ. I called my Viking agent who transferred me to Viking Air where it was answered in 2 rings. It took a while to find out why this was happening - it turned out that there was a problem with this particular flight as the air agent initially had trouble getting it as well. I did not have Air Plus, but the agent got approval from her supervisor to waive the fee since we should have been able to do this on MVJ.
  13. You would most likely have to cancel then rebook. You could lose perks from the original booking, and cruise and air fare may have increased since your original booking. You also will most likely not be able to keep your original cabin. Having said all that, I have rebooked a couple of times and did save money. Just be sure to do all the math.
  14. I think you're correct again. I booked a 2023 cruise in late November, 2021 and didn't get the RFG.
  15. To my understanding, you are correct. RFG disappeared with 2023 bookings.
  16. On our cruise this past April, there was a card in the slot which we never touched. Never knew until now it kept the power on.
  17. We were in Bergen for 5 days 3rd week in April. One day nicer than the other - sunny, high temperatures in lower 70s. We were told to expect rain.
  18. I suggest finding a laundromat in Prague. Viking ocean ships have free laundromats - not the river ships.
  19. Regarding Ultimate Tuscany - unless things have changed since Covid, everything is included (tours, meals, etc.) and there really is no time to do anything on your own.
  20. I was on the Jupiter in April and lobster night was smack in the middle of our 15 day cruise. And it’s half a lobster, not a whole one - but you can order 2.
  21. …fully acceptable as the bow tie is not a clip-on.
  22. Totally agree with CDNPolar. Regarding cash vs. credit cards, the other lines that don’t discount are using everyone’s payments to cover credit card fees - so if the majority are using credit cards (which I suspect), they’re paying the fees anyway.
  23. I believe the dining room dress code is relaxed the first night as late arriving folks don’t have a chance to change clothes.
  24. I agree - and would add younger couples (like my second cousin) consider Viking before they start having children.
