  1. I've always felt as a VIP on our Silversea cruises, but had never heard of this.
  2. On a bit of a serious note But maybe just encouragement for cooler denizens so wanted to pass on to you... The spacing got degraded by my cut and paste, just punctuate and separate as you choose. from Pablo Neruda (Chilean poet): You start dying slowly ; if you do not travel, if you do not read, If you do not listen to the sounds of life, If you do not appreciate yourself. You start dying slowly : When you kill your self-esteem, When you do not let others help you. You start dying slowly ; If you become a slave of your habits, Walking everyday on the same paths… If you do not change your routine, If you do not wear different colours Or you do not speak to those you don’t know. You start dying slowly.
  3. TTS, your embarrassment was the fault of the man at the desk. Daveywavey, the photos & comments have been glorious fun. Good to know that I'm not the only one to have been stumped by how the lights work in a hotel room. Ruined a potential romantic evening in my distant past
  4. Hi @chrismakris and welcome to Silversea. I agree with the above posts. I suggest you bring (or wear to your departure port) a sport coat, nice pants and button down oxford type shirt, & you'll be set. One thing we like are the on-board, free, washers and dryers. My wife and I have both found the food great. If you would like a soft drink or wine bottle (or beer or liquor) stocked in your fridge (or some combination), just tell the butler when he or she introduce themselves & it will be continuously restocked.
  5. Loved them all Davey but the sunrise over Uluru beckons...
  6. Off you go into the other half of the world! (from the perspective of an East Coast all my life North American). Bon Voyage and safe travels Mysty!
  7. Just blame me Mysty 🙂 our next Silversea cruise in April, your posts making that feel so far away
  8. Love this spot, because of all of you. Glad to see @Daveywavey70 is back. Please don't close the door but feeling quite complete & happy heading into 2024. Wine cellar is behind the apothecary if I remember right. The pictures from France are a delight JP!
  9. Best wishes for the holidays! I hope everyone's holidays have been happy and whatever you wished for. [never end a sentence with a preposition - why not?] New Years just ahead, may need to head back to Total Wine...
  10. I wanted to yell Marco! a few posts back - too much time with the grand kids i suppose
  11. Merry Christmas to you and your husband @Lvshack & Happy New Year to all. Welcome to Silversea @westmount , I'm glad you are enjoying your first cruise on our prefrerred CL, and BTW I've found my experience the same as yours regarding dress code. My mom (now departed) always said gray pants, nice shirt, and a navy sport coat will work anywhere.
  12. Spins, that was laugh out loud funny! Photo below is granddaughter at the pool of our hotel while visiting the Midwest this past November. Note to self: always select a hotel with an indoor pool when visiting grandchildren, nieces & nephews etc, Cost as a consideration a distant 2nd.
  13. Give yourself time Lois. We all wish you the best. I do hope you'll feel better soon. In the meantime, don't be like me and this lady: credit: History for the witty 2.0
  14. Just came in from a concert by Judy Collins in our adjacent mini-city of Hopewell, VA, USA. We are actually about 20 miles south of Richmond. A couple months back, we went to a concert by Roger McGuinn (of the Byrds) in the same venue. Both were fantastic. Just bring this up in case any coolers might also live near a venue where these great musicians, of good times gone by, might appear. Recommendation: go see them! They are (at least these 2) still professional, incredibly talented, and the memories brought a tear to my eye. Ms. Collins, 82 yo, was magical.
  15. thanks for sharing @drron29 ! Learned some WW2 history plus worked up an appetite reading those menus 🙂
  16. Lucky adoptees, lucky adopters. 😺 We have no regrets about adopting Gus (looks a bit like Dora sans remarkable tail)
  17. Just back from family in the Great American Midwest. Lovely time with daughter, son-in-law (from Poland), and these 3 beautiful granddaughters. Still, how nice to scroll through all of your funny and interesting posts upon a bit sad return. Chicago had many holiday places to visit, the Botanic Garden had a walk through light show. . JP, the lioness picture you led off with in an earlier post is, in my opinion, worthy of entering in a photo contest of some sort.
