  1. You mean listen to what is being said and do not ASSUME things that you are not being told.
  2. All you had to do to get an answer is go to NCL and try to buy 1000 and see if it let you. In the time it took you to surf over here, find the right thread, and post your question, you could have had it all taken care of! Just go buy whatever amount it will allow you to buy. Simple solution!
  3. I use the CCL vouchers to line the cat's litter box. They have terrible casinos. especially that electronic dealer Texas hold 'em table. Not to mention that the one CCL ship I was on was so rusty I was concerned that it might not survive the cruise and the late night pizza and only ½ way cooked and dripping with grease. Nastiest food I have ever been served.
  4. Where does it state that ANT of the DSC goes tp the crew as salary? Also by your (il)logic, fringe benefits should be considered gratuities since they supplement the base pay. As NCL says it is an INCENTIVE PROGRAM that is used to encourage the crew members to work together. Nowhere does it state that any of the DSC what-so-ever goes directly to the crew as supplemental pay. They are compensated by salary and INCENTIVE PROGRAMS.
  5. In addition to the above.... https://www.ncl.com/faq#!#what-about-gratuities What about gratuities? Unlike most other ships in the cruise industry, there is no required or recommended tipping on our ships for service that is generally rendered to all Guests. While you should not feel obligated to offer a gratuity, all of our staff are encouraged to “go the extra mile,” so they are permitted to accept cash gratuities for exceptional or outstanding service if you care to offer them. Also, certain staff positions (e.g., concierge, butler, youth program staff and beverage service) provide service on an individual basis to only some guests and do not benefit from the overall service charge. We encourage those Guests to acknowledge good service from these staff members with appropriate gratuities. Additionally, there is an 20% gratuity and spa service charge added for all spa and salon services, as well as an 20% gratuity and beverage service charge added for all beverage purchases and an 20% gratuity and specialty service charge added to all specialty restaurant dining and entertainment based dining.
  6. https://www.ncl.com/faq#!#what-is-onboard-service-charge Why is there a service charge? The reason there's a fixed service charge is an important one: Our Crew (as are the crew from other lines) is encouraged to work together as a team. Staff members including complimentary restaurant staff, stateroom stewards and behind-the-scenes support staff are compensated by a combination of salary and incentive programs that your service charge supports. How much is the charge? Onboard Service Charges are additional. THERE IS NOTHING THERE AT ALL ABOUT GRATUITIES. Some people choose to read into the above FAQ facts that are not stated and deem the DAC a fgratuity, but that is not what the FAQ states.
  7. No. There are no pre-paid gratuities other than the mandatory gratuities on some dining and drink packages for example. Other than those, gratutities on NCL are 100% optional. The DSC is a different animal and waht all it is and covers is described in the FAQ on NCL's web site.
  8. Yes. One just has to know the tricks and ins/ouys of variuos offers. One VERY easy thing to do is get and use an airline and a hotel credit card. I pay for everything I but with one of my points cards and then pay teh bill as soon as it posts to my account on line so no interest at all. As a result I fly round trip for $11.20 per person on any flight and I frequently fly first class at that rate. In addition I stay at Hilton hotels for $0 per night. There are ways to get cruises at next to noting as well, but I can't give away all of my secrets... 🙂
  9. It would be much nicer if the hot tubs were actually hot. Most are tepid at best, many are darn near cold.
  10. W/O a soda package, all soft drinks (sodas) will be charged. Juice is free.
  11. What is your favorite thing about a cruise vacation? Being on a cruise!
  12. Let alone no incarceration, the 2,500 is extremely low for this offense. If they "just wanted tht money" the fine would have easily been 10x what she was fined. She got off VERY light.
  13. They cannot prove where it was that she bought the drugs aboard or even that she was the one who did so. Even uf the stop in question was the first port of call, the later point stands.
  14. EXACRTLY what was asked... "Does NCL ever discount if you stay on a ship when they disembark?"
  15. Uh huh. I bet she cannot touch the deals I get. Let alone flying r/t for $12 per person on any flight I take or paying no more than $15 a night for a room at a local Hilton when I fly in to my cruise destination a day early (The MIA airport blue lagoon is really nice BTW). Enjoy your measly 8% discount.
  16. 2,500 is a TINY fine for such a violation. I would not be surprised if that is a typo and the fine was actually 25,000.
  17. No I don't. That is chump change compared to the deals I find on my own. You get to spend time on the phone with her explaining your issue. Then she calsl NCL and waits for their reply. Then she has to call you and give you the options NCL provided. Then she has to cal NCL back to give them your choice and wait for their reply. THEN she calls you back and the loop goes on ad nauseam unti everyiene is 1) happy, 2) upset, or 3) just totally fed up with the process.and gives up. Much easier to just pick up the phone and make ONE call.
  18. It is ALWAYS applied to the first person in the cabin. If it bothers you that much just give your friend $25 cash and you are even.
  19. I'm not sure what it is you think is difficult. You can complete most of the check in for everyone when you are logged in. If you do not have a picture of each person, just upload a silhouette for that person and they will take a picture at embarkation. For the parameters such as payment, just log in as that person and fill out the info. Done!
