  1. I see the MSC cheerleaders are out in force.

Failure to do so means that the accommodation may not be available on  the day of embarkation, but will be available, if possible, as soon as it can be arranged.

Then why did the MSC emails not point out the need to complete this form? Instead the OP was told the matter would be resolved once aboard. Does MSC not bear some responsibility for misleading the OP?

If someone has a fetish, and, for example "identifies" as a "furry", and thus "requires" some insane "accommodation", believing that all businesses should be DEI, regardless of how asinine the requested accommodation is, then I would dismiss the criticism as beyond unfair, and further question the credibility of the person asserting criticism.

    But to each his/her own......

Yes, let's imply aberrant behavior on the part of the OP. 🙄

Did read.  Still don't know what "accommodations" weren't provided.  Do you?  If I missed it please sight.

What difference does that make? As the "accommodation" was eventually made there is no question about it being reasonable.

Would you please explain why knowing physiological details is so important to your understanding of where MSC failed?

So far I haven't heard about anything that was done wrong by MSC.

Then you have not been reading all the posts.

From Post #1 "Also, I was feeling grumpy because my accommodation for disability was not honored after MSC sent multiple emails promising me that they would be once we got on the ship (More about that later)."

    Also read Post #26.

broberts: Did you read the link I attached which gives the information on how to submit any special needs and the time frame for submission before sailing to have the accommodation in place upon embarkation?

It would be nice to have the complete story of the procedure used and the time frame for the request in order to evaluate the OP's experience.

Surely if the initial query regarding special needs was directed incorrectly the respondent would have returned an appropriate link rather than an assurance of compliance. I know that is what other cruise lines do.

OP, did you contact the Special Needs people as instructed on the MSC website (go to the bottom of the main page and there is a link for special needs)?

I have traveled on MSC with fellow passengers that have dietary restrictions or mobility requirements and in each time, accommodations have been available as requested through special needs.

Also, I was feeling grumpy because my accommodation for disability was not honored after MSC sent multiple emails promising me that they would be once we got on the ship (More about that later).  So, in fairness, I was uncomfortable for that first meal and that’s going to have an impact on my opinion.

No, they shouldn't have had to do it, but I think it would have helped.  Of course, that's hind sight.

The issue appears to be taking the device off the ship in each port. Why should the cruise line be responsible for informing the passenger about local port authority and municipal regulations that would affect his use of a folding bike?

Who do we contact in BC to complain about not allowing HAL to sell Platinum Insurance?  I understand in October 2023, HAL could no longer offer Platinum Insurance for cruisers.  If I lived in Alberta or Sask or Ontario, I could buy it, but not in BC.  What department or organization do I complain to to reverse this decision.  I was able to purchase it for our last Grand 94 day cruise as we paid for it 6 months in advance.  We hope to go on a Grand or World cruise in the near future and it is nice to have that piece of mind when you are paying over $50,000 each for the cruise. We used the platinum insurance when we had to cancel a 45 day one due to covid.

HAL can no longer offer insurance in BC because the company that offers the HAL insurance is unwilling to comply with the rules and regulations that govern all BC insurance suppliers.

This a commercial decision on the part of the company. Probably caused by the cost of compliance and the expected revenue stream.

Your efforts would be better directed to finding a Canadian insurance company that can meet your needs. You might start the research with this thread

We are booked on Porter Air out of Vancouver for our cruise in December.  We normally fly Alaska Air out of Washington state or occasionally Alaska  out of Vancouver with a connection in Seattle.  Could not be easier.  But flights with luggage etc priced out more than Porter’s Reserve flights and based on reviews we decided to give them a try.

I did call the airline after booking to ask if they will check our luggage through to Fort Lauderdale and was told yes they would.  From what I can tell when we land in Ottawa we will have to clear customs there before boarding our flight to Fort Lauderdale which is new to us as we have always done it in Vancouver but because it’s domestic I am afraid we will need to retrieve our bags and recheck them.

Can anyone confirm the procedure for flights originating in provinces outside of Ottawa transferring there and continuing on to Fort Lauderdale? We do have a approximately 90 minute connection so hope that’s long enough.

This page suggests that you will not need to claim your luggage if it has been checked through, https://yow.ca/en/travel-planning/travelling-to-yow.

Again I was stopped and discouraged.  I waited 15mins or so for phone calls and radio transmissions to go back and forth and eventually was allowed to take the bike onto the port sanctioned area, but not allowed to leave the beach front this time stopped by the countries security not RC’s.

Did you bother to check local rules for each port before embarking? Many jurisdictions do not allow the devices in public or have regulations that affect use.

Just realized that I forgot to add the ending date in the title. Should be June 2nd, not just June. Way too late to go back and fix it now. As careful I am, I'd make a terrible editor apparently...

In other news: my chariot awaits.

If you "Report" the first post (top right corner of post, ellipsis ...) and ask for a title change, the request might be granted.

So basically you need to wave tour hand to get into the restroom and then wave your hand to get the door to close which takes about 30 seconds and then wave your hand to lock the door and since its only a one hole without any stall or walls, if anyone needs to go number two, and they didn’t properly lock it, the next person can walk right in on them 😳

Pretty standard for a handicapped accessible public bathroom.

To settle this debate, the chef who came out told us very specifically that the sausages are cooked in the oven for 7 minutes and then put on the grill/hot plate

Not a professional approach. Raw ground meat sausages should be cooked to a particular measured internal temperature. The USDA recommends 160F, (165F for chicken and turkey).
