I have never, ever, seen a drug sniffing dog when embarking at any port. ...

I have. Cartagena, Columbia. Two armed men in fatigues and a German Shepherd at the foot of the gangway.

There was a classic one before covid of a man stuck for multiple days in Nassau which has a embassy right there!  It wasn't on the Princess board.  He wasn't complaining; it was a warning to cruisers.  IIRC he left his passport on board, missed the ship and it was over a weekend.

Its been reported in many threads discussing the "other passport topic" 😀, (take it ashore or not), that ship will leave passports found in the safe with the port agent before departure.

Just thinking that most of the Eastern Caribbean is served by the consul located in Barbados.  Wondering if they have taxis that can drive across the sea :).

Sure do. They are known as high speed ferries.

While I believe in travelling with a passport, it irritates me when I see posts that suggest the end of the world when legally traveling without. I've followed CC for 17 years and cannot recall a single post about someone unable to return home in an emergency with or without a passport.

And you believe that the line’s port agent is authorized to issue temporary documentation permitting undocumented people to board flights to the US?  We are discussing handling a specific documentation problem here - not just cruise lines’ staffing policies.

Not sure why you are picking on the port agent. It is the first point of contact for anyone leaving a ship early. If for no other reason than finding out how to clear local immigration and customs for a longer stay than the ship. Which would be the first hurdle faced by anyone not carrying a passport.

  5. You may find some useful information on parking options in the Canadian Cruisers forum, https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?&q=Parking&type=forums_topic&nodes=2510&search_and_or=or

Highway traffic in and around YYZ can be horrific. Depending on time of day, you may need to factor in significant slow downs.

Border crossing times can also be a factor. You may want to monitor https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/bwt-taf/menu-eng.html a few weeks before and at expected crossing time to see if you need to adjust departure time. The page also has a link to CBP information for the return trip.

Our lobsters were tiny as well. Still calling them Maine lobsters but they’re smaller than the old ones. However, ours were cooked perfectly this time and were delicious. Every cruise we have ever been on has overcooked lobster. These were perfect. But we would have needed 3 or 4 to make a meal. We ordered 2 servings of cheese tortellini and shared them. We left full and had a delicious meal.

Is it even legal to catch lobster that small?

Contact your local US  Congressional Representative and ask this entire PVSA legislation be reviewed, amended or rescinded in its entirety, since it appears to serve no valid purpose today nor confers any special interest advantage.

You do realize that the PVSA affects vastly more maritime business than the cruise industry?

our travel professional will make alternate flight, hotel and/or ground transportation arrangements and do everything we can** to get you to the port of embarkation in time to board the ship or to the first port of call (without violating the Jones Act).

Yes, that's what I do too. But most people just go on rote and give out their info.

I wonder if these practices might result in problems should there be a claim against the tour company?

Is there a way to list the topics within a roll call that I can find what I'm looking for?

BTW, the same question applies to this forum. My question may have been answered before but there are 109 pages of everything. How do I find it?

I may have missed a "search" function, if I did, please let me know.

    Cheers,

    Newbie

There is a search function reached by tapping / clicking on the magnifying glass on the right if the blue bar under the CC banner. Functionality is slightly different depending on the device being used and in the case of some mobile devices, the orientation.

On a PC or wide screen mobile (landscape usually), navigate to the roll call then type the search criteria in the search bubble press enter. (As you type the words This Topic will appear on the right.) If you are looking for a particular phrase enclose it in quotes, e.g. "Royal Princess". Otherwise the search will return every post that contains any word in the search bubble.

To search particular forum navigate to the forum and type in the search criteria. The search will default to This Forum.

There are many more options and methods but this should get you started. At least enough to find the topics in this forum talking about search.

I wonder if any cruise passenger has ever been "bumped" because of overbooking.  Reading all of the above, it seems highly unlikely.

This is NOT "done at the terminal"!  WHY would they wait until then?  (They do not want angry - possibly screaming?? - pax at the dock who are being denied passage!)

This is done WELL IN ADVANCE, when everyone has time to consider, "Do I want the cruise we booked, or do we want this other cruise, at this great deal!??" 😉

    It does happen at check-in.
