  1. bacchusman We docked by the Movinpick (main cruise terminal) , a €20 uber to the museum district
  2. Honfleur was our next stop. Very cute little town, a ten minute complimentary shuttle ride to city centre. After that cam Zeebrugge, were the free shuttle party ground to a halt. Taxi only (they wanted €50 one way) for the 20/30 minute ride into Bruges. May have been an Uber around but we didn’t check. We hopped on a nearby tram and rode to a nearby understated seaside area. Final stop, Amsterdam, a 20 minute, €20 uber ride to city center. Don, what you wrote is correct except for Zeebrugge , where you fend for yourself . Overall the cruise was a screaming success. Enjoy!
  3. Arrived at Pont Gustavo Flaubert , two miles down river from central Rouen on 5/20, free shuttle available if needed. This is another overnite destination and due to our smaller size we are again able to travel way up river to get to this destination. Personally I find the overnighting on this cruise a genius move on Windstars part. Going for a quick lunch in these places versus a leisurely dinner date “in town” is magic.
  4. Caen today. We passed through a lock and berthed right beside the Viaduc de Calix, the shuttle dropped is in the center of Caen after a 15 minute ride.
  5. We moored in St Malo 5/18 by tying up to a buoy off our bow and our stern. We were located a ten minute tender ride from Mole De’s Noires, a short walk to the old city of St Malo.
  6. Currently on The Legend, wifi is noticeably improved since switching to Starlink. Hopping from one device to another is now very easy .
  7. Don, I’m not a fan of tours sorry. Will keep you updated on berthing locations. I can say that after getting to St Malo at 5pm today we will overnite till 4.15 pm tomorrow, and the ship is offering a tour of mont saint michel at 6.45 a.m. tomorrow friday 19th
  8. Todays berthing spot is quai de coromandel. It’s about a twenty minute stroll (no shuttle) through an industrial port, to town.
  9. So La Rochelle today. The ship berthed a 25 minute complimentary shuttle bus ride to the old port/city. We are berthed at Mole d’escale de la Pallice, which is under the Pont de l’ille de Re. Shuttles every thirty minutes
  10. Currently in Bordeaux. Our location is fantastic. We are about 100 yards down river of Monument aux Girondins. Hopefully you will get the two nights in town itinerary that we are enjoying. To be able to go into town for dinner instead of rushing back to the ship for a 5 p.m. sail away is figuratively, as well as literally, delicious!
  11. I recommend you check with Windstar head office on this, But they have just added StarLink internet service to the Star Legend. The quality is a noticeable upgrade. Give HQ a call and see if The Windspirit is going to get the same upgrade.
  12. The duo is called Coffee/Cafe Society and the band is from The Philippines and called Back on Traxx. We are not fans of the musical entertainment on Windstar in general, hopefully you will feel differently. The crew have been superb as usual.
  13. 2023 will be the Star Breeze’ and Windstars’ last season in Alaska. The Star Breeze will instead replace the Windspirit in Tahiti. The WindSpirit will leave Tahiti in February 2024 and rotate between the mediterranean and the caribbean in future.
  14. currently aboard the legend, I will update this thread with name of each terminal as we make our way up the coast of France. Google maps should tell you everything else.
  15. Live from The Star Legend, and having zero problems bringing wine back to the ship. If you board on deck four, they have the same wine allowance sign (unlimited) as the sign I posted earlier in this thread. As usual everything is superb on here, beautiful crew.
  16. Thanks again Misty, my partner suggested we show him our appreciation on the final day, that way any awkwardness will be short lived since we’ll be gone, and he gets to enjoy the token of gratitude.
  17. Ah Misty Morning, superb answer, thank you for that info.
  18. I have a question for those who like to tip extra to the cabin steward, restaurant and bar staff. How do you feel about tipping an asst maitre’d who has virtually adopted you and your needs? Currently on board the legend and don’t want to offend said party by being inappropriate.
  19. Thank you kc, my travel agents web site shows the same cruise leaving Papeete at 6pm Thursday 19th. I am pleased that Windstar is accurately showing the delayed departure. We’re considering the 10 day cruise on September 18th. I’ll be sure to have my agent correct the departure time. It’s crucial for folks who would like to land at PPT on the Thursday, but think they’ll miss the ship edit: So I just just looked at Windstars site and they do indeed disclose that your cruise will not depart until 05.00 am on the 20th of October . However, they state the September 18th cruise leaves at 6 p.m. on the 18th. Definitely worth our while checking closer to cruise time. Have a fantastic cruise kc.
  20. Does anyone have an update on the actual sail away time for this cruise from Papeete harbor. I know the itinerary continues to say 6 p.m. but In the past the windspirit has remained tied up at the harbor till the following morning. Anyone’s recent experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you P.S. this question applies to The WindSpirit only
  21. Sorry, I should have added that the sign suggests that you can pick up bottles of wine at ports along the way for consumption, just like the ones you’re allowed at embarkation. That of course is a contradiction to what is written in the setting sail guide.
  22. Mnocket, I think the policy that you quoted contradicts the sign posted by the gangway on the breeze. Is it just me or does the sign indicate that you may bring wine on board for consumption (corkage fee if consumed in public, restaurant etc).
  23. Getting on the Star Legend soon, so a question. Has anyone who was recently onboard the Legend seen a sign like the one I photographed on the Star Breeze last December?
  24. Thanks r&rd. I’m pleased you had a great time.
  25. We are boarding April 8th. Please keep us updated on air conditioning issues. Thank you
