  1. Nordski, are you saying there are NOT possibilities from the starboard side? Or are you saying both port and starboard are good? btw, I will of course report back with cabin review so it can be added to the excellent spreadsheet . I saw the tips for newbies spreadsheet but overlooked this superb cabin one. Thanks again Jazzbeau.
  2. Thanks Mack, after many great cruises on Windstar, we’re excited to explore Azamara. The treatment we get from the Windstar crew is sensational, maybe it’s due to how we interact with them, but anyway we’re looking forward to interacting with the Azamara crew.
  3. Thanks Host Jazzbeau and Benthayer, yes i will scour that spreadsheet some more it’s very helpful. Since posting I have confirmed that the V2’s are exclusive to deck 7 which is great.
  4. Hi all After numerous cruises with Windstar we are going to try out Azamara, The Quest on July 14th Leith Edinburgh to London. I hope these questions aren’t redundant or weird. We are booking a club verandah V2 state room, may I assume these state rooms are exclusively on deck 7, or could this V2 class also be on deck 6? I ask because I’ve read on here that deck 7 is generally the better option. This maybe a bit silly but we plan on requesting a room ending with an even number, putting us on port side of the ship. My thinking, maybe crazy, is that since much of the cruise is counter clockwise around Scotland, we would have better views of the land. Finally I know to avoid staterooms near the self service laundry, but are there any other staterooms on deck 7 to try and avoid? Thank you
  5. Canned guinness is about as exciting as it gets. The offerings are so bland that the local offerings like Hinano become quite appealing. Hinano is pleasant but more of a lager than an IPA
  6. At the risk of stating the obvious, the braille on the atm’s and the ice hulls are probably a tooling issue. It’s more cost effective to purchase the keypads with a redundancy than tell the manufacturer to re tool and only make keypads with no braille. Similarly the ships are presumably more attractive to Windstar with unneeded ice hulls than commissioning/ or purchasing vessels without ice hulls.
  7. Give them a call, they should have an update for you on your refund. Sorry about the choppy seas, we were on the week before you, I guess we got lucky.
  8. arebaj, somewhere on here is a discussion pertaining to booking excursions before you sail (with a credit card), and then obtaining a refund and using your OBC instead . The idea is that you get to avoid being disappointed once on board due to an excursion being sold out.
  9. That sounds like a decent credit, $600 each? Can it be used on drinks, gratuities? Approximately how much out of pocket were you to begin with after your Tahiti cruise was cancelled? And do you feel “taken care of” Thanks in advance
  10. empathy clearly not your strong suit. Award ticketing is not available to the OP till next year. This cruise was canx in favor of a charter within 120 days of sailing. Who does that?
  11. you are allowed to bring 2 or 3 (if cruise is over 8 days) bottles of wine only, at embarkation . You may also buy more wine at ports of call and bring it on board. Any of the wine you bring to dinner should be charged a $15 corkage fee per bottle. The Wind Surf has a sign on the wall where you board the ship that says “maximum 2 bottles of wine to be brought on board per week”. I have no idea how they enforce that, they certainly didn’t when we were on board earlier this month. FYI the all in package includes gratuities in the $89 and also includes the hotel $16 per day gratuity. Based on what you wrote though, I would look at a 30 day data cruise package from your phone carrier and or Windstar’s internet offerings.
  12. just back from the windsurf. People do nearly always respect the dress code. Unfortunately the exceptions stick out like sore thumbs. Candles the other night had a diner in swim shorts, another fella with his cowboy hat on, and a third diner, big guy, in a singlet. I wasn’t impressed.
  13. just back from wind surf, laundry done very nicely.
  14. just for clarification, they are juliet balconies.
  15. thanks crewsweeper. Are you saying that most posters on this board have sxm formalities handled by the cruise line? I asked about the airport because many cruise critic posters use sxm independent of the cruise line for arrival and departure, in addition to embarking and disembarking the island by ship.
  16. I have a couple of questions about The airport. Can U.S citizens check in online for flights back to the U.S. on American and or Jetblue? If not are there self serve kiosks at the airport that allow check in? We are traveling with carry on luggage only and may have to dash from Jetblue to American, so can anyone advise if both carriers are in the same terminal? I know there has been a lot of construction at the airport recently so I understand things are a little in flux at the moment. Many thanks.
  17. Well we were pleased to discover that the Nelson dockyard was open on Sunday 10 th March. Also the staff at Lucky Eddi’s sports bar bent over backwards to accommodate me regarding an event I wanted to view.
  18. Hi misty As usual thank you, it’s so considerate of you to write that lengthy guide for me. Thank you to the moderators for putting my post in the correct forum.
  19. We were curious if anyone has experienced the harbour on a Sunday. It looks like Nelson dockyards museum is closed, but are there still things to do? Thank you
  20. We were on the Legend last April, and presumably experienced the “pilot program”, for me the plant based offerings were tasteless. There is another thread on here so I won’t complain any further. Hopefully they have made some adjustments along the way, or maybe I just don’t have the right taste buds. Here is a link I just found https://www.windstarcruises.com/BlankSite/media/Press-Releases/plant-based-menus-revisions.pdf?ext=.pdf
  21. never seen that before, very desirable versus the standard. I’m surprised they’re classified as second lowest (porthole lowest)
  22. Strenz that was so helpful, it really helped orient me. 🙂I am going to print it out.Thank you
