  1. R&rd Thank you, we have fond memories of Hubert, looks like he is on the Pride or maybe on vacation.
  2. r&rd We are sailing April 8th thank you for the update. Without invading the crews privacy what is the first name of the maitre’d please?
  3. 2Love, this deck plan explains it all. Most beds in the new section are real queens beds which obviously cannot be converted to twins. We just so happened to wind up in one of the few new suites that still put two twins together. https://www.windstarcruises.com/BlankSite/media/deck-plans/StarClassdeckplan.pdf
  4. Maybe Windstar were confused, or maybe some queen beds in the new section are truly queens and since they can’t be sawn in two, must remain as queens. In our new ste 629 they had put two twins together with a t bar down the middle ,which the crew would have been happy to separate if we asked them to.
  5. sorry I made a mess of quoting 2lovetotravel
  6. we were in ste 629, one of the new suites on the breeze last December. There were twins pushed together.
  7. We are leaving on the 8th April. We were told it would be terminal E in an e mail dated March 7th. from Windstar. If you have already contacted Windstar unsuccessfully about this, keep calling in until you get someone who knows.
  8. I’m new to Oceania, Can I purchase a cruise only ticket (not an O life ticket ) and then purchase the house beverage package pre cruise for $29.95? Thank you edit, looks like price is now $39.95. Is it still $39.95 if you wait till you are on board ?
  9. Here is a deck plan for the legend. All deck three suites are walk in showers https://www.windstarcruises.com/BlankSite/media/deck-plans/StarClassdeckplan.pdf
  10. CC Cruiser. The deck three suites are virtually the same as the majority of the other suites, and yes there is a walk in shower.
  11. You might, repeat might, have an issue between Tahiti and the Marquesas, or between Tahiti and Fakarava. But most of your time you’ll be close to shore with no problems. You’re clearly experienced sailors, go for it! Just promise not to kidnap any of the crew when you disembark, (you’ll wish you could). To give yourself maximum assurance do the mid ships lower deck thing for cabin selection.
  12. Was on the Spirit March 2022. Yacht club is the first place to find coffee, in a serve yourself urn. Can’t recall if it’s 05.00 or 06.00, sorry. Anyway, room service is 24 hours so the night before you can fill out the breakfast card and state the time you want your coffee delivered
  13. This question refers to cabin 309 on The Star Legend, although I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has stayed on deck three in general on any of the yachts Thank you
  14. Joining the Legend soon and am requesting reviews from recent passengers. Thank you!
  15. Just got off phone with an experienced sounding agent at Windstar. She confirmed that cruises of 14 days or greater get free laundry service.
  16. frequently get seated at a table for four, but we throw buns at anyone who tries to join us. Seriously, you’ll never have to share a table if you don’t want to.
  17. It’s getting harder to give an exact number of drinks as a break even point . But new cruisers five drinks a day estimate is a decent rule of thumb imo. Also, just for the record, the all in package is per passenger, so if one of you hardly drinks, he or she can skip the all in. Another thing I noticed recently on the Breeze, was a placard by the gangway, stating by omission, that wine may be brought on board at ports of call. I verified the wording with the security officer and he confirmed that bottles of wine are permitted.
  18. I don’t think anyone can answer that question but you. My personal choice is to hand about 12 to 15 crew members a $20 bill. I don’t care if that offends other cruisers or not. I recommend you do what makes you feel good, up to and including tipping nothing as the auto gratuity is already in play.
  19. Has anyone stayed in this suite or any of other new suites on deck three? I’m interested in any reports. Thank you. I should add that tendering is not expected on our upcoming cruise.
  20. I don’t think you need to test before boarding in Tahiti. In this case the passengers voluntarily tested themselves and announced to Windstar they were positive. So the above link would be correct when it (by omission) says no test needed by Windstar our local authorities for boarding in Tahiti. Where the above link is wrong is the part inferring that your self test needs a proctor. We sailed out of Melbourne Dec 4th 2022 and a picture of the cartridge from a self test was all that was needed. Of course with Windstar communications you never know, maybe quayside in Melbourne really does want a proctored test (I doubt it)
  21. ciao, don’t feel as though you’ve been cheated. You asked for some special consideration, Windstar declined, nothing sneaky about that.
  22. I’m never shy about criticizing Windstar on here, after all it is “Cruisecritic”. Also my gripes are usually with their land based set up. However, if Windstar are simply sticking to their fine print about not combining discounts/promotions, and not reducing fares that have already been paid (fallen between or after their stated calendar deadlines), then I don’t think they’ve done much wrong. I realize they could show a bit of good faith etc. and give a passenger a break, but when and where do they stop?
  23. Pleased to read update that USD is accepted. My recollection is that Star Breeze held our passports while we went ashore. Having downed a couple of beers at a local bar we were told no credit cards or U.S. dollars would be accepted. When I went to exchange pesos, the bank rudely chased me away (no passport), so I eventually convinced a street vendor to accept the best $/peso exchange rate in the history of the world. I got back to the bar to learn that our group had ordered another round of drinks which put me back to square one! At that point the proprietor gave up and sent us on our way. Was quite the little adventure.
  24. Mocamps, Windstars CIBT entry guide says you don’t need a test. Maybe your info is out of date? On a separate note, be sure to have local currency when you go onshore in Cartagena and Santa Maria as they are not at all interested in USD (was our experience in 2017).
  25. It’s natural to be confused when it comes to Windstar’s communiques. I posted the picture as just one more data point for those traveling on the breeze.
