  1. Sorry Jack. In the South of England between Southampton and Bournemouth. Bit of a trek I fear.
  2. Oh my goodness. What awful reading those reviews make.I can’t understand why they are still allowed to operate.
  3. My goodness you are expert in such a range of topics. I am glad to be put straight about cruise ship bread and there was me thinking all that flour was for bread making.
  4. Thank one to steer clear of if anyone asks me. I can’t remember the name of the outfit which were using public car parks I know there were lots of posts on here I am sure.
  5. That’s awful. Do you know what the business was ?
  6. It’s not an official P & O statement . This relates to other aspects of Carnival Corp . P &O and Cunard are run by Carnival U K .
  7. Oh I see. I won’t go down that rabbit hole of removing gratuities. I normally sail Cunard and my pet hate is the removal of gratuities. On Cunard they are shared out amongst all staff including laundry workers and galley staff. I would never be able to tip those crew members in person so I keep the auto gratuities on and tip extra to wait and cabin staff. For reference I am from U K.,
  8. How much ?? That makes my daughters’s Louboutin’s, they like for evening wear seem like a steal !
  9. What’s wrong with frozen fish? I don’t think I could taste the difference when it’s cooked ? I live near the sea too !!
  10. I have thought about the butter situation too. I prefer my scones with butter not cream and jam. I have always been brought butter when asked for it when having afternoon tea in the Queen’s room, across the fleet , or in the Grills lounge. I may have had to wait a few mins but always cheerfully and promptly similarly I sometimes fancy coffee and a pot is brought. The other aspect to consider was the buffet closed ? And everything cleared away?
  11. I thought Royal charged a daily rate for gratuities per person for all in the cabin including children.
  12. Seems to me all this talk about how much better these so called luxury lines are just smacks of The Emperor’s New Clothes. To any potential new to Cunard. Don’t worry. It’s not stuffy or pompous . You will meet genuine warm friendly people having a great time and enjoying themselves whatever the category of stateroom they are in. My son in law treated me to a short trip in QG once and it was amazing. That said I still enjoy all my meals around the ship from the Golden Lion to the buffet , the lido grill and of course the Britannia Restaurant.
  13. I had a Queen ‘s Grill milk jug every night last year on Q V in Britannia.
  14. Well my standards and tastes are even more mundane. As I am happy with any size cabin. I am intelligent enough to be able to visualise the size from the measurements given. I can visual a standard balcony and according to the sizes quoted can work out if a particular cabin will be bigger or smaller. For preference I like a balcony but will also be O K with ocean view or inside. I enjoy the meals on offer in the Golden Lion, buffet and Britannia restaurant. Happy to visit a port with others , they don’t impact on my enjoyment. Entertainment offerings I am more than happy with. I have no envy of those on luxury lines they would not suit me. If my finances ran to affording such cruises I would just spend more on extra Cunard cruises and possibly upgrade my cabin at the most. Simple pleasures me.
  15. Marks and Spencer is not brilliant for in store stock these days. Especially West Quay. There is a much bigger out of town one by the M27 . My advice is to order several different sizes and options, try it all on and refund what’s not suitable. Currently a regular fit tuxedo is being sold for £99 and a slim fit £129. I wouldn’t rely on buying or swopping in store .
  16. They are in a security office I understand .
  17. Oh that’s great for everyone I will just miss it in December.
  18. I can’t speak for Australia but in U K I called the call centre and it was changed on the phone. Do you have a world club contact number ?
  19. I only know the options I choose which is tomato soup or steak. I am sure others on here will be able to tell you. I don’t think they advertise it anymore but happy to be corrected .
  20. Yes I suppose it it was all open dining it would work.I would miss having a fixed table. As I always eat on my own I would hate to have to worry every night what the set up would be and if I would get a table for myself. I couldn’t justify Britannia Club or the Grills as a solo especially when Grills supplements are 200% as opposed to 175% for other grades. The solo cabins are so scarce and can be more expensive than paying the solo rate on a two person cabin anyway.
  21. This would also be not popular as when would you fix the time for ? I eat after 8 and would not want to eat earlier and can appreciate those who want to eat around 6 would not be pleased to wait until after 8. I can’t see the numbers justifying it on the cruises I have been on. Britannia was not half full for my sitting or anywhere near it .
