  1. Yes, and as others said it won't work. If your wife is in an inside cabin (even across the hall if that is possible) she cannot eat in Blu. Then during dinner IF it was possible; what do you do with a 6 and 8 year old? Let them run loose? Tell them to stay in the cabin? Hire a sitter each night? The list of bad things that could happen are endless. I would change to verandas or a veranda. A sunset veranda would be perfect.
  2. They sometimes run out as this was intended as a kids item with low demand. You only get a few small filets from each whole tenderloin.
  3. Where do you find a different cruisrline that offers value as defined as pre covid price and services. Lots of demand for cruises. Thus prices are still high. Cuts on mainstream product are in total similar for all companies. Upscale like Regent have simply raised prices. The question is not what happens at the top as there are enough to keep upscale cabins and ships full. The question is at what point do people choose something other than cruising as changing lines accomplishes little to nothing? Thus driving has motels now up some 25% along with fuel and meals up even more; so what happens in the future?
  4. The ice has receded so seeing Dawes will be fine unless weather is poor. After 7 times really suggest flying to Glacier Bay from Juneau and spending 2 or 3 nights for a much better look. Juneau has a nice hike to the foot of Mendenhall and enough places to keep one busy for 3 days as well including the Alaska State Museum. The town is REALLY nice when no cruiseships in port. LOL.
  5. Just took a look at Regent. People are complaining about planes being rescheduled, luggage tags, decline in food, higher prices etc. Etc. The big difference is they are a bit more polite. The changes are the same no matter where you go. Those that choose to pay lots of $ to cruise Regent or Oceania complain as the increases in cost make it harder to pay their cook. LOL.
  6. Lots of things are obnoxious in Australia. Pun intended. Same elsewhere as Giant King Crab us considered noxious in Norway as it is not native and is wiping out the cod.
  7. You answered your own question. The Captain's Club discount cannot be combined with most other discounts.
  8. Not much difference IMO. Unless you are VERY picky about location
  9. You already asked. Too late to renew. Two choices. Go with you existing passport (99% not a problem unless a very long cruise as many countries do jot stamp) or cancel.
  10. It is too late to renew. Simply use you existing passport and put a sticky on your passport asking to use an xisting page with only a stamp on one half. Making sure there are enough pages is a personal responsibility. Not that of a cruiseline.
  11. Princess's medallion would be modern if it worked. Just got off a 15 day Princess cruise. Their app required calling in - they were polite and helpful with little waiting - to even checkin. The medallion on board was out of service 4 days so one needed to call - nobody usually answered - so bad it made Celebrity IT almost, but not quite, look good. LOL
  12. There are many threads showing both current menus and comments about both being offered. Again, are you talking about the MDR, Aqua, or Luminae? Prof. Cruise is a website with most menus. They show pretty much every menu forever restaurant. Most are prettycurrent.
  13. You made it too complicated. It there is a deal with two people that are free book the two people. Call back and on a separate call book the other person. Important that this promo is only for a few days. It is not all summer.
  14. Ports are always looked at for disruptions that could be either dangerous or restrict access. Missed Acapulco over an active police situation involving drug cartels, Nicaragua involving a breakdown of government ability to control violence, strikes shutting transportation in Spain and others. A last minute cancelation is always the decision of the Captain. Same with weather.
  15. Today things are changing. Just got off a Princess cruise that was barely ok, great crew and 3 major management foul ups. Have both X and HAL this spring. The itinerary are #1 as the product is changing for all the lines - and if our Princess experience is an indication; not for the best.
  16. When I board I always have a copy of my booking in emails from BOTH my TA and the cruiseline. Have had OBC from my TA that did not appear by day 3 - took my phone to guest relations and in an hour it was there. If the OBC from the cruisline after boarding is less than shown on my invoice then I get it fixed with no hassle.
  17. If food was most important to me I would always stay home. Many years in a kitchen means I hope for very good and occasionally excellent when eating out.
  18. What suggests to you that Celebrity is running out of willing buyers? Cruises I looked at recently were mostly booked. I believe Celebrity will made modifications to OV, but not making the changes would guarantee their demise. Suggest those that are feeling they would not receive what they paid for should either cancel or make the next cruise with X their last. FWIW the premium lines have raised their prices as well. Welcome to 2023
  19. Can't buy it locally. Just the basic Woodford.
  20. The supply on board has almost certainly been solved as the almost daily rants have ceased. Of course some wines will be in short supply due to weather and labor issues.
  21. LLinda. Who knows. If you disembark on your own from Rotterdam at say 7am you could be at the airport by 8am. . . if everything went perfectly. That gives you a bit over and hour to check your bags. The question is will 7am actually happen? Any problem on the way to the airport as you will be in the morning commute? Will your booked private transport be on time? How will things be at AMS? Today taking 3 hours to check in STILL - that from relative in the chaos - from the curb to checking bags! What happens if they change your flight time say an hour earlier? We are using TAP at 1pm. Earliest I would care to book. Cheapest for us would be to spend the night near AMS and take a next day flight at 6am area. This same question gas been asked a few times.
  22. Have only been on 1 7 day sailing so question again doesn't fit well for us. 30+ cruises. We eat in OV is: Arriving late after a long day ashore Rough seas - as in very rough Simply are tired and want an easy and fast meal. We do go by OV around 5pm for a lite bite. Used to get sushi.
  23. Hopefully you have a hard copy of your booking. Not unusual. Things like this are why I have a great TA. They fix the computer stuff. It happens way too often. Same proble on other cruiselines. Is almost always an easy fix. You need to call. Early morning best. Today busy as Monday was a holiday.
  24. Plenty of outside space. Sitka is a great port with interested town center and a SUPERB museum. A starboard cabin will put you a bit closer to shore on a northbound cruise. If you love Alaska consider flying and spending a couple days in Sitka, Juneau and Ketchikan. Fly to GB from Juneau and spend a couple nights. Wonderful.
  25. Interesting saga. On a holiday cruise our dinner table that was organized with friends was cancelled and we were told the only way we could all sit together was to dine an hour earlier. They gave our assigned table to someone else. How or why I will never know. On night 3 they found a table near the kitchen entrance for our group. We accepted the table and suggested a night in the steakhouse as compensation. Spoke to the restaurant manager and he agreed to add a couple bottles of wine up to $100 each. Bottom line is travel is chaotic today. Customer service is almost dead. Thus one has the choices of staying home or being flexible. Flexibility is definitely needed for traveling today.
