It does look to be very nice and I actually am excited about the location.  I saw the video and the only thing he didn't address was if there was noise or a smoking section nearby.  But from what I can tell, it shouldn't be an issue.  The cruise is up in Alaska and I don't think any midday noise would bother me and I can't imagine people wanting to be walking the deck at night in the cooler weather.

Someone also posted that they haven't seen smoking on this class of ship on the upper decks forward.  So, that's also good news.

I think it's a great location. I've booked one of the window cabins upfront on the Sun deck for a Thanksgiving cruise later this year. I think your location is perfect. It appears your cabin is directly underneath a suite cabin so no noise from above.  If you're concerned about smoke wafting up from Deck 16, it appears you have cabins below you and I wouldn't think any smoke from the Deck 16 bar area, etc. would waft up that far. I don't believe Princess allows smoking in the Retreat area on Deck 17 (please correct me if I'm wrong on this one).

We were recently assigned to cabin S301 on the new Discovery Princess.  Since the Sky Princess is nearly identical, at least on the upper decks, I have a couple questions for those that have sailed on her in one of these Sun Deck cabins underneath the Sky suites.

S301 is right across from the elevator vestibule.  Does the outlet end up right across from the cabin door?

Is there noise from above where the door to that top deck opens?  Or is S301 set back a bit and directly under the suite?   I can’t get the deck plans to line up exactly so am just trying to eyeball it.

I might be able to transfer my cabin over to S304 but have seen on other ships that there is a smoking section on the port side forward and that would only be a couple cabins away from smoking if it is allowed there.  Can anyone that has cruises on the Sky Princess recently tell me if smoking is allowed in that area in the public decks?

I am pretty excited about the location because I’ve always wanted to book a room up there and would asked to be switched to S303 if it were available .. alas, it is not.

A little off-topic but there is a You Tube video of cabin S301 (on Sky). You can go to You Tube or go to cruisedeckplans website, go to Sky Princess deck plans, and click on your cabin for the video. It seems to be a very nice cabin.

Just got this email from the TA

"I called and held for over 2 hours . I got them to put it back on. He saw that if fell off somehow when final payment was made. Makes no sense but at least he put it back on. Yay! I couldn’t sleep last night over this. Im so sorry again for the confusion."

My sincere thanks to EVERYONE for helping me with this.

After all the suggestions, I'm going to get GeoBlue soon to cover all of my future cruises.

    Cruise Critic is GREAT!!!!

Sounds as if everything worked out well!!

My adult daughter is traveling with us on an upcoming Carnival cruise. She got her US Passport years ago and of course it was issued in her maiden name. She has since married and her Covid vaccine card has her married surname. I suggested she take her Birth Certificate and marriage license as well, to prove she is who she is. Has anyone had problems boarding when Covid vaccine card does not match their other proof identification?

Where did she get her vax card from? CVS, Walmart, etc.? Just go back and have them reissue it in her maiden name with her married name in parentheses to match her passport.

We'll be on the Mardi Gras' April 2 sailing, and the posted CD schedule shows Lee Mason from 2/19-7/16 and Kyndall Fire from 3/21-4/12. What generally happens when they overlap like that? Do they share CD duties? Or trade off week to week?

And, no, it doesn't matter a lot to us--we haven't had either of them before but our experience with Carnival CDs has been good to excellent (with one glaring exception who's no longer with the company). I'm just curious if anyone has any insight.

    They duel to the death?

Our family of 13 is scheduled on board the Crown in June for another trip to Alaska. In December 2020 I never considered the possibility that we would still be under this virus threat 18 months later.  My concern is the possibility that a grandchild might require isolation (DGDs age 19, 18, 17 and DGS age 14). It is inconceivable to me that a ship’s captain would require a youngster to be confined without a guardian/chaperon with them.  Has anyone experienced a situation where an uninfected companion/parent was allowed to accompany their companion/family member into isolation?  Or does anyone have an e-mail contact on the Princess staff that would address the issue?

Parent(s) prohibited from being with their children? Minors in the room alone? Lots of liability in store for Princess if it attempted to do that. No, minors could not be required to be in a room alone without parental supervision. Lawyers would have a field day....

You really think it is funny using stereotypes for the passengers of a cruise line? What if someone made a joke about all Carnival cruisers being drunks who wear tee shirts and shorts to (whatever they now call) formal night. (Gala night?) How would you like that? Though I guess you would just disqualify them with your God-like powers.

Many jokes are based on stereotypes. Lighten up, Francis.

And, according to yesterday's article in Sea Trade, linked above, until the ships meet the "vaccination standard of excellence" (95% of pax and crew vaccinated and boosted, and no ship meets this at this time), the ships will be considered "highly vaccinated", and will still require masks, and any ship that is not 95% vaccinated will also require masks.

This is all voluntary now. No requirements. Up to the individual cruise lines.

According to this article from sea trade the CdC just restated that masks are still required. NCL is scheduled to end mask mandate March 1st and said they are reviewing the newest CdC guidelines.

Royal caribbean also announced today that they are relaxing their mask mandate.

I know that following cdc is now voluntary, but ncl was the first line to agree to voluntarily meet the CDc recommendations.

    This should be Interesting…

This merely is voluntary - merely guidance.

I'll be going on my first Princess cruise next month on the Caribbean Princess.

    1.  Are there clocks in the cabin?

    2.  Are the shops on the ship duty free?

    3.  I'll be traveling with a Canadian friend.  Does the casino slot machines accept Canadian money or do they need to exchange to US bills?

    4.  What time is the nightly show in the Princess theater?

    Thanks for your help!

As others have said, don't rely on random clock times - especially if you're at port, etc. I always bring a small, battery-operated clock with me and my kid always wears her cool watch and adjusts the time upon my direction!!!

Update on booster requirement:  February 3, 2022.

Lt. Josh Green was interviewed on television this morning.  Last week, the governor said yes, then no, then "we are working on this".

From the television report, it seems as though a booster WILL NOT BE REQUIRED anytime soon.

    https://www.khon2.com/wake-up-2day/lt-gov-josh-green-says-booster-might-not-be-added-to-safe-travels-program/

Good. Because it's a ridiculous requirement - and forcing people to "show your papers" also is ridiculous.

@ronrick1943 Most countries require receiving a shot a minimum of 14 days before arrival to be valid. So for a cruise beginning March 1, people would need to have their booster by February 15. Silversea announced this policy on January 25 — exactly three weeks advance notice. I don't see how much more aggressive they could have been with the timing. How much less notice do you think they should have given?

Only if you're eligible for the booster. If you've had your two Pfizer shots (last one two months ago), you're not eligible for a booster shot for four months. If you sail in two months, you're still able to board, etc. without the booster.
