Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes, that's a closed loop cruise and a passport is not required. It's preferable to have a passport, but sometimes that simply isn't possible.
  2. Magnesium really helps with this. I take it at night before bed and by morning I'm good to go - pun intended. 🙂
  3. I take one bonine the night before my cruise and then each night of the cruise and I've never had problems. I am extremely prone to motion sickness and I've never been sick on a cruise even in rough seas. I like to take it at night because I think it makes me just a bit sleepy for the first several hours after taking it.
  4. I guess it was just a coincidence. I would try to flush repeatedly, nothing would happen, then I would turn on the tap and after a moment there would be a noticeable increase in water pressure in the sink, then I would try flushing again and it would work. As they say, correlation isn't causation.
  5. I don't want to highjack the thread, but this also happened to me on Liberty. I finally figured out if I turned on the tap in the sink and let the water run for a bit, I could get enough pressure in the pipes or whatever to make the toilet flush. I thought I would mention it in case others run into the same problem and maintenance isn't able to quickly fix the problem.
  6. When we got to the bus terminal, we asked and they pointed to a bus. Sorry, I didn't catch the number.
  7. We were there a couple of weeks ago and took the public bus. It was extremely easy. The bus stop is a couple of blocks from the port, at most, and the bus drops you off right at the beach. We waited maybe 10 minutes for the bus back from the beach. I think it was about $5.00 pp round trip. This video shows you exactly how to find the bus and where to get off of it:
  8. Sorry, I should have been more specific. I want my cash right away and not 3 months from now when I'm on board. I wish I knew why it takes forever to get a refund for a cancelled cruise and only a couple of days for cancelled cruise planner purchases, but I'm far more likely to cancel cruise planner purchases than a cruise, so I'm ok with it.
  9. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I don't want OBC because I rarely spend any additional money once I'm on board. I want my cash. 🙂 By the way, I cancelled and rebooked something two weeks ago and I got my refund in a couple of days.
  10. This morning I ordered emed tests for our cruise in August. If the testing requirements goes away prior to August 6, I think all of you can thank me for making what I hope will be an unnecessary purchase.
  11. I also vote for umbrella strollers because they will be easier to maneuver. Depending on how tall you and your wife are, you may want to pick up some umbrella stroller handle extenders. When my kids were little, we often used an umbrella stroller for travel, but my 6'4" husband had to have the handle extenders because it killed his back to push a stroller all day without them.
  12. I'm down 2.6 lbs since Monday, but I know that's mostly water weight. From what I can tell, the first week is super strict and that results in a large loss, but it will slow down starting week 2. I'm headed to the Indy 500 this weekend and plan to pack a cooler so I can stay on plan. I would normally be packing sandwiches, chips, cookies, and alcohol. This year it's raw veggies, lean protein and water. I don't think it will be too painful because I'm usually too distracted by the race to eat much. I don't live in Indy, but I'm only a couple hours away, which means I'll be home in time for dinner.
  13. Thanks for sharing your story! Please feel free to call me Meghan. Fortunately, I think things have changed a lot since your experience. Now everything is done online and delivered right to my house. It's very convenient. This first week is rough because there is very little food, but next week I'll be adding in more protein and that should make it a little easier. I've never actually hit a goal weight so I have no idea how to do maintenance. I'm always gaining or trying to lose. I hope I make it this time and can learn from your experience!
  14. Hi everyone! I new to this group and I hope you don't mind me jumping in on a Monday. I'm starting Nutrisystem today because I desperately need some structure and I need to remove all decision fatigue from this process. My rough plan is to stick to their program for at least two months and they see how it's going and decide if I want to continue or wean myself off of it and strike out on my own. I've never done a plan like this before, but I feel like it's going to work well for me because I hate weighing and measuring food and trying to estimate isn't working for me. Like so many people, I gained a significant amount of weight during the worst of COVID because I was working from home for two years (and I'm extremely grateful my job allowed for that and I continued to get paid my regular salary), but the weight hasn't been going away and I've been back in the office since last August. On top of COVID times, I'm almost 48 and I think my hormones are changing as I enter perimenopause. I know now is the time to drop the weight before it becomes even more difficult. I would like to lose 33 pounds or fit comfortably into a size 8. My short term goal is to lose 15 pounds before my August 6th cruise. I'd like to wear my summer clothes from last year rather than buying a bunch of casual clothes in a larger size. I'm taking a solo trip to Italy in October that includes a week in Florence and 6 nights on a cruise out of Ravenna and I would really like to be at my goal by then. Other than taking almost all decision-making out of my hands, the other reason I want to follow a strict program like this is it will make it possible for me to track every calorie and macro I consume and, if I'm not seeing results, I can take my food diary to a nutritionist and my doctor to show them I am limiting my calories and still not getting anywhere. In the past, I would get hung up on tracking my food because I wouldn't know how to accurately enter something like a homemade casserole and then I would give up. I'm glad to have found this group because I need some accountability and community support. My goals for this week are to stick to the plan every day, even though this first week is ROUGH, drink my 64 oz of water, and do at least 15,000 steps per work day (I have a treadmill desk, so this isn't a high number for me). I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!
