  1. NCL have announced that they are discontinuing the E-Muster procedure and are returning to the old muster drill with everyone assembling at one time at their muster stations. This is effective immediately across all of their brands, including RSS. One of the few good things to come out of the pandemic protocols was the industry adoption of the e-muster. What a retrograde step for NCL (and Disney).
  2. We are just finishing our Miami to LA holiday cruise. The comment on fruit selection is correct. We saw our first papaya today and no mangos ever.
  3. Just embarked on Splendor from Mandarin Oriental. I let them handle my bags and took an Uber to the ship. All worked perfectly. Beat the bus and bags arrived in my suite safely. Good tip from the Boards. Thanks.
  4. See report here: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/silversea-cruises-president-ceo-roberto-143000362.html
  5. I recall having a pair of binoculars in my suite on Mariner. Can someone who has sailed on Splendor recently tell me if this is still true. The amenities list for our suite (Splendor Suite) does not mention binoculars. Thanks
  6. I think you are right that it varies by port. I recall having to identify my bags before leaving the hotel on one cruise and at the port on another. I would suggest that you ask the RSS representative at the hotel if you can forget about your bags until you get to your stateroom. Some posters are saying that at some ports (Miami for example) you can have RSS transfer your bags to your cabin while you travel independently from the hotel to the port.
  7. The links posted are all 'unavailable'. Seems that sharing them on the board is not allowed for some reason.
  8. I've cleared my cache and tried on a different computer that has never visited the Scenic site. Same message comes up at the bottom of the home page saying they are having some technical difficulties with their web site and suggesting a phone call for more information on a cruise. Same on Chrome, Firefox and Bing.
  9. Take the low fare and purchase "cancel for any reason" travel insurance. The insurance probably will cost less than the 20% saving. Just a guess. 🤑
  10. Has Scenic been hacked again? I keep getting emails promoting their ocean cruises, but when I open them and try to go to their web site I get a message saying they are having problems with their web site and advising me to call for information on cruises. It has been several weeks like that. Seems like deja vu all over again.
  11. Does Seabourn offer complimentary laundry in its top suites (e.g. Wintergarden)?
  12. We are cruising on Splendor from Miami in December and staying in the Regent pre-cruise hotel. My question is: can I leave my checked luggage outside my room for Regent to transport to the ship and then go independently to the ship after some business in town? Will the bags go straight to our suite or do we have to identify them at the cruise port before they are taken to the ship. I am concerned about the timing of our arrival at the ship to check in and the timing of the luggage arrival at the port. Thanks in advance for advice from anyone who has had this need. Chris.
  13. In the pre-covid days the cruise lines all offered the one use bottles of water as you disembarked for an excursion. Since covid, I have found that often a reusable bottle is provided in the suite for each guest. What is the current situation on Regent? Do they provide refillable bottles? If so, are they any good or should I bring my insulated bottle from home? I like my water to stay cold all day. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the answers. Seems like a lot of extra work for the staff at Seabourn square as well as a pain for the customer. I am used to the Silversea and Regent process which seems more efficient.
  15. New to Seabourn with a cruise planned for April 2023 in the Greek Isles. I have some on-board credits. Can I use them to pre-book shore excursions?
  16. Has anyone looked at insuring just for the really big cost risks like medical coverage and emergency evacuation and self insuring for the lower cost risks like trip cancellation, delays, lost luggage, etc? While the result of a major medical issue and evacuation could be devastatingly costly, the chance of it happening should make the insurance cheaper that the "full trip" insurance packages.
  17. Is Rico back? Great news. He is the best. I'd heard that he quit. Glad it was wrong info.
  18. We did the Scenic cruise from Amsterdam to Basel plus a detour down the Mosel back in June this year. It was a great cruise with the Mosel leg being by far the most scenic and enjoyable. If you can afford the extra three days I would strongly recommend it. The Rhein has a few days of good viewing, but is a bit industrial a lot of the way. Wishing you a great cruise.
  19. I have at last been assigned seats for my flights. It was an oversight that we had "standing room only" on our flight confirmation.
  20. I have seats for the outward leg, but not for the homeward trip. Something slipped somewhere. The AA site says the status of our booking is "unknown". I have never had this problem before. Seats always allocated at booking and then changeable on the airline web site.
  21. Things are not improving. It has been three weeks since we asked for a deviation to select a first class flight for our Christmas Panama canal cruise. Over a week ago they sent a proposed schedule which we immediately accepted. They have issued a flight schedule but not ticketed it. So we have no seats selected. Despite repeated emails from out TA (they are not accepting phone calls yet), no response and AA is showing the flight almost sold out. We have now paid in full for the cruise including the deviation fee and the upcharge for first class. But no flights ticketed. They must be having serious staffing problems.
  22. Thank you @isnowman for posting the Scenic explanation letter. I wish the company had issued something like this months ago. We all might have been a bit more understanding if they had. I agree this should be on their web site.
  23. I may be stating the obvious, but you should be able to highlight the text of the email, right click on it and hit copy. Then just paste it into a new posting here. Sorry if I am being naïve.
