  1. I don't buy the all shipyards filled up or had staffing problems. I've been on at least 3 of my cruises (including the one NCL) where they were doing rust cleanup and repaiting while in the midst of a cruise. Doesn't seem to be a problem usually. Couldn't Carnival have gotten workcrews out to the ships during the shutdown and done the work, seen in these pictures, no matter where they were docked at the time. I understand needing a drydock for larger issues Engine issues or exterior rust or painting. But the issues that I keep seeing repeatedky in people's post cruise reviews are simple, on deck or in room maintenance, that could be done anywhere. (usually on a moving cruiseship)
  2. Unfortunately, they're probably gonna pay with lost customers on the backside now. As you can see in my signature, many Carnival cruises under our belts, but after a couple of cruises since the shutdown, on the Sunshine in bad shape and an upcoming cruise again on the Sunshine and Pride, if they are still looking this bad, we may have to begrudgingly look at other cruiselines who have managed to keep their ships in better condition.
  3. Parked in Jacksonville many times and had no problems ever.
  4. Couldn't alot of this have been done during the shutdown, when the ships were empty and people still wanted to work? They had months and months of unrushed time to do a major cleanup on the ships.
  5. Terrible idea. Why does anyone need theoir room done twice a day? (I guiess if your stuck in your cabin with covid) I'd prerfer the photo discounts or other discounts versus 2 room cleanings or a 99 cent foam beer koozie.
  6. We won't the SNOBs (rich people "slightly North of Broad St.") have been trying to get the city to ditch cruiserliners for years.
  7. Yeah seeing alot of recent reviews saying that the trolley is there but not running, frequently.
  8. Depends on which pier you are docking at. RCCL or Carnival (International or Puerto Maya) 5-10 minutes. The Downtown pier for NCL and other lines, add 5-10 minutes.
  9. You caught a taxi from Resort World? Was the sand and water as beautiful as the beach at Resort World? Thanks for chiming back in for those of us still waitying to go.
  10. I saw a video on you tube that showed I believe the same Carnival excursion, except Carnival was charging an extra $25 for the added lunch to the excursion. Then the people showed the menu in the video and at the top of the menu (like 10 items if I remember) it stated any menu choice was $15 for those who didn't pay extra for the lunch. Wish you tube worked in any of my browe=sers or I'd link that video for you.
  11. Thanks for the link and the name clarification.
  12. There is a video on you tube by one of the golf cart companies that has a great map an explains it pretty well.
  13. Arrive whenever you like and wait outside until the assigned boarding time or arrive shortly before your scheduled boarding time and barring any issues, breeze on in .
  14. Couldn't find much on Hotewl Luna either...
  15. Spirit, Legend, Pride, best class of ship in the fleet by far. Too bad all lines go for cramming as many people on board versus providing a great guest experience. Would love to see them build some newer Spriit class ships, versus the larger, mega ships.
  16. If you count Grand Turk, I'd throw Bimini in there. Only 1 ship per day.
  17. Beach day is definately Cozumel. Research Playa Maya and Paradise beach for all inclusives with lots for kids to do. Maybe do the Mayan ruins in Costa Maya and educate them a bit to go with all the fun. {Plus if they are adventurous, the ruins are very Indiana Jones}
  18. Yeah it more depends on what the other 8 ships that are docking with you. You get any of the bigger ships from Carnival or NCL with 4,000-5,000 passenger or an Oasis class monstrocity docked for Royal and it'll be crowded. 4 mega ships will have more passengers than 8-9 smaller ships.
  19. Do they do an 80's deck party on all the ships?
  20. First thing I thought when OP asked about the seaweed. If you're worried about the west side beaches, avoid the east side beaches at all costs.
  21. How much is the big cabana now? I forget how we paid for our regular cabanas for years, but $449 is way too much.
  22. In February I'd be looking at temperatures along with length. Now for me coming from Charleston,SC where my temps at home in February range from 50's-70's versus somebody from Minnesota where it is probably below zero, anything in the bahamas will be almost like staying home. So 5 day, chilliest, 6 day chilly, 7 day at least San Juan should be toasty, 8 day sounds delightful, getting much closer to the equator and warmer temps in February. If your flying in from up north, any of them would be a nice treat.
  23. Well I hope it eases up before you get there. A day at Nachi is little slice of heaven. (even jammed in the hot tub in January)'' If you decide to pivot to another excursion, I hope you have a great time.
  24. This.....No rum and cokes..... Wish they would have switched back at the turm of the cenruty. Too many cruises drinking mediocre coke products.
