  1. Looks like all 3 left on time yesterday?
  2. I have her booked for my cruise next week. Can't wait to see what nature provides for us when we go! 🙂
  3. I haven't gone yet, but I booked one of the post-cruise tours with this company. They have a couple options and will drop you off at the airport when the tour is over: Pre/Post Cruise Services - Vancouver Excursion - Landsea Tours (vancouvertours.com)
  4. I haven't been yet but I am curious to see what others say....I personally have Icy Strait Point booked with Glacier Winds (6 person boat). The reviews are all fantastic. I can't wait.
  5. Do it! I wish I was comfortable travelling solo but if it is something you really want to do - go for it! We are doing the summer dog sledding due to cost, but I hope you have an amazing time!
  6. I've seen multiple people recommend to NOT purchase in advance. If it is cloudy...you won't be able to see much if anything at all. I am following that advice and will decide day of if we will go up or not. If you do purchase it, it is an all day pass so no specific time slots. It may have a time depending on your cruise line if you pre-purchase, but you would be able to go up when it works for you.
  7. They do whatever they can to go. But if the weather does not cooperate they can't control that. This is one excursion that you most likely won't get a lot of notice if it gets cancelled.
  8. I am going the first week of September this year - best time to travel for us and hoping for decent weather but will roll with whatever we get. Most tours still seem to be operating...helicopter to a glacier with dog sledding seems to be the only one that shuts down in August but there was some availability for it in Juneau still. I can't afford that so it didn't bother me. There is a teeny tiny chance of seeing the northern lights in September as well. Not counting on it, but that would be the best cherry on top!
  9. It is our first time and I feel like I am going to be overwhelming us...2 excursions in Icy Strait and Skagway....trying to leave Juneau open a bit but something tells me I will end up booking something...
  10. I had a balcony gty for my upcoming Alaska cruise on the Quantum...and then started worrying about the obstructed views (on a Caribbean I wouldn't care so much personally). Then I read about some being right over the smoking sections as well. NOPE. I paid to pick a specific cabin number. Worth it to pay what was thankfully only a little over $200. I fully agree that if you are worried or it would ruin your cruise, don't get a gty. This will only be my second balcony ever but the more I spent on the trip, the more I wanted to make sure it would be worth it. I am also wanting to get my boyfriend hooked on travelling LOL.
  11. That's good to know about the weather! We booked in January for our September trip (our boat only has 6 people) and I know September weather is most likely more rain. Can't wait to go! Glacier Winds is one of two excursions that I have not changed. So much to do and not enough time and those decisions are tough - but this one wasn't.
  12. Thank you all for your responses...I go in September and yikes. Lots to plan, lots of worries, but I am beyond hopeful that things will work out. I am going on Quantum which is the one with engine issues for August so I am trying to be positive on whatever happens. I keep watching videos and reading reviews...I am ready to go!!!
  13. When I looked up my date (September) it was about $260 for a full day. The bus tour I have was $230 for the pair of us, so I am sticking with that. It will be a bit more due to tipping but for a first time, I would like a guide. I thought I might be bored on the train, since it is a round trip this year. If it was train up/bus down or the opposite, I would have been more interested.
  14. I will have to look at it again and weigh the pros and cons. Thank you 🙂
  15. I have booked a tour to the yukon with Chilkoot charters...is it better to rent a car? There are only 2 of us and we have never been...I figured having a guide the first time to hear the history (and be a well-tipped photographer 😆) would be beneficial. Other than being able to go as fast/slow as we like, what are other benefits of going on our own?
  16. Nope. I am a planner and I would have freaked out at them. I kept rearranging my ports but I am now staying with what is booked. Happy with choices. I have 2 booked in Juneau so I will eventually cancel one...just wanting to see odds of the helicopter tours going in early Sept.
  17. Hello! I have booked the Skagway Scooters Tour through viator as I had trouble with their website. Reviews so far are mainly from pre-covid. Has anyone done this tour or at least seen them around town? I can't seem to get a response from them regarding their website not taking payments so just a little nervous. The tour looks great ...
  18. Thank you - what ship are you on?
  19. For mine in September, it is meeting us at the boat at 7am and returning us to the ship at noon. From there the ship is scheduled to dock at Juneau at 1pm. I have asked Royal Caribbean about it as I was concerned from other reviews that the tour may take longer and they said that "no excursion will take you from one port (the fjord) to another (Juneau)." Not sure I believed him so I moved my Juneau excursion to be safe.
  20. I have the Taku Lodge booked too. Please let us know how that goes!! It seems amazing but that price...definitely the most expensive of the trip for us.
  21. I have booked through Alaska Shore Excursions...but my trip is not until September. Everything has gone very smoothly and I already have tickets for them.
  22. Can't say I am sorry to the passengers that will be waiting for me to get on and off the smaller vessel, but I will take dealing with the crowds to be able to actually see the glacier, the wildlife, etc. All reviews I have seen have been wonderful, videos of experiences are breathtaking. Well worth the chance for me to see something other than a "vague, distant view"
  23. Are the harbor seals there all season? Obviously not always as pups, but in general
  24. Im doing it, but not until September. We are fortunate that there are only two of us. It was about $500 but once I saw some reviews, it became non-negotiable.
