  1. This is reassuring. Our family group for Med cruise in July has 2 at 6 yrs, an 8,9 and 12 yr old. So hope they love it as they did Princess to Alaska last July!
  2. Thanks so much for your posts groryjym! Love that it’s our July 8 itinerary! Wonder what are doing in Nice? We booked nothing there but hope to wander the old town. We have 5 grade school age grandkids who are seasoned travelers. I will be asking more because we booked no tours for Genoa either. Appreciate weather reports also? Keep on enjoying each moment!
  3. I have cruised numerous cruise lines. Cakes are seldom good. I cannot figure it out. Even boxed cake mixes are much better. I am a baker too and picky with desserts. Often disappointing. So I order sorbet, ice cream or gelato if they have it.
  4. It’s good to know how we are all preferred guests with this next move up special. I got it today also. July sailing. I am checking into it more with my independent TA as I’m unsure about this whole thing. Unfamiliar with this Celebrity program.
  5. Yes…will watch for your review. Same ship and itinerary in July for us!
  6. On a recent cruise excursion we had 2 lovely people in their 90’s which is wonderful…however this tour was accurately described as “difficult”. They were in good shape for there age….however no way could keep up. Since I am a retired therapist who worked with older population…I took her hand and then he could walk safely with his cane. They had no business to be on this tour. It was also very hot. They carried no water and she had flip flops on. I was kind and patient…as was my husband…but explained to be very aware of any tour descriptions! I so wish everyone would. I know things can happen to anyone!! Just be aware of your limitations before signing up.
  7. I can’t believe I am getting into this discussion! I always have enjoyed the dressing up part…a lot! But I am 68! Truly it’s so hard tho when you are have more land travel tagged on to beginning and end of a cruise. We have our whole family of 11…3 generation doing a 9 day Med this July. We have extra days and travel at both ends using trains after the cruise. Begin in Barcelona and ending in Frankfort. We are trying to limit ourselves to 22” bags and our totes. Just no other option. We “all” need to be able to handle our bags! We only eat in MDR. My husband and adult sons will wear collared shirts and slacks…Maybe a tie? By husband enjoys a sport coat…but not room for this. The boys..the same…collared shirts. We girls will wear dresses. Maybe linen or sundresses and not glitzy. Maybe w scarf and touch of jewelry. Nicer sandals. That’s it. Not going to worry and I think we will feel appropriate.
  8. I will add to this. We did 3 cruises during Covid. Last one in July. We wore masks when others didn’t. No theatre or bigger gatherings. Took stairs…but did some bus excursions. Careful where we ate…often outside. Took every vaccine precaution and tested neg each cruise. Amazing! However…husband, myself, daughter and 2 of her 3 kids just had our first bout…all within 2 days. We did not get it from or share ours with daughter’s family. Too many days between. We think our church service was likely. We blame no one…not God!!..Hey… It was our time…we were overdue! Thankful we are well again after much congestion. Just saying…you go out and live at this point. Even cruise…we are in 2 wks again! 😎
  9. Breath of fresh air! I quit reading the negative as it was affecting the joy of my long time planned family trip! My sis in law and husband absolutely loved their Apex cruise last week! They only cruise X. Not stopping either!
  10. Great…thanks. We like Lavassa and can appreciate you pricing my cappuccino! And hope to find Cafe Al Bacio on Reflection. ☕️
  11. We are a family of coffee drinkers in the morning. Like our cuppa Joe. Several actually. But not getting a drink package. Maybe missing this…but any coffee critiques of what is offered from breakfast buffet? Do they have cream….half and half? Also….any help with their specialty coffee prices? Cappacino, cafe latte….? Thank you.
  12. You are right. Port is gritty! Guess I thought the city has some pretty surrounding areas….as I left for an excursion. Trying to be positive. Livorno the same. I am trying to not be too dissapointed they changed to these ports. I was excited to book when I first saw those more picturesque ports!!
  13. Right! Hopefully they have qualified staff that can sort that all out and handle kids and their adults well….
  14. Interesting isn’t it. The Italian ports call the shots. My very unqualified guess is….like Venice…these smaller ports are discouraging larger cruise ship traffic. With Genoa now Celebrity has to come up with even more tour companies for our ships. This happened mid December. At least that was when we got our notification. Fortunately Genoa is lovely and hopefully Celebrity helpful with options. If not…private tours.
  15. Thanks for posting this. I am the one on July cruise. This has been an unknown for weeks….From these port cancellations/changes in Dec I found it so odd to backtrack from Livorno to Genoa. I realize no big deal for ships…but still… interesting? I have my Livorno shore excursions newly rebooked. Genoa is a lovely city and people still can see northern Italian locations that were first offered. I was disappointed however to have Santa Margharita and La Spezia canceled as we have been to the new ports now changed. We are holding off with booking anything while in Genoa…waiting and waiting to see what Celebrity can offer.
  16. I love knowing this for same reasons! Don’t want to buy drink package. I will discretely check the 2nd day! Any idea on cost?
  17. We have a July Med cruise which I assume more kids on board? Our 5 grandkids were looking at the Celebrity site over Christmas and checking out kids clubs. Our 9 yr old grandsons at first very bummed to not be be with his 12 yr old sister. The other day I was surprised and pleased that he now thinks he needs to be with his 9 yr old girl cousin who would feel sad w/o him. Always best when kids can work out their issues on the own. ❤️ I agree…we need to how this plays out and with low expectations….
  18. You are spot on Georgia peaches! I go to estate sales regularly. The sadness I first felt taught me that all our stuff is temporary and fleeting. I also was in therapy healthcare working with Senior population for many years. Now we both are retired. And my dad a quad with polio for 25 yrs. These people all encouraged me to live your life well today. Travel when you are able. We do. And better yet we do cruises and land trips every year also with our adult children and grands. Yes costly. We are not high income. There may be little money left in the end for them…but all 11 of us say…these memories are our treasure and legacy! Gosh I am sappy and blessed! ❤️
  19. Few test at all! So sorry you had to cancel with Covid. You are being considerate of others! My husband has Covid right now. We are home. Tested Thurs. I am still neg…but have a nagging cough? First time ever for poss test. And we cruised 3 tx during Covid! Thankful he tested before going to visit his mom in nursing home. He has bad cold sypmtoms. Feels miserable. Thankful our nxt cruise is in 4 wks!
  20. Just the opposite. Disembarking cruise ship into Rome. Even better to our Rome hotel. There are 11 of us so adds to cost. Trying to keep cost down. Should we check into Celebrity transport? Even getting us to airport…we can train into city if necessary.
  21. Thank you. We sail Reflection this July. Glad Oceanview has some fresh cooked offerings. Did you eat in MDR? That’s what we willl do most.
  22. Just funny! Our Alaskan bound Magestic Princess played it for sail away in August. Way cool yes! Highly doubt Celebrity would or be allowed to!?
  23. My TA says there are not the deals and won’t be. It’s the reality of current finance market and pent up travel demand. Don’t wait if you want on.
  24. I am enjoying Celebrity’s TV commercial. Very inviting! Lovely scenes and music makes me even more ready for our summer Med cruise! They show a large bowl of paella. Has anyone ever seen this served on board? Or do we need to eat it while still on land in Barcelona? I know it’s actually a Valencian dish…we do love it and would enjoy it….somewhere? Not easy to make and we have while in FL. Doubtful it’s done on ship…but they “show it”. Yum!
