  1. They're coming back! Gen Z'ers love 'em. Sorry if you hit the pay wall: https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/of-interest/2024/03/13/disposable-cameras-gen-z/
  2. I agree on all points! We never had the opportunity to feast at Food Republic on embarkation day. Rather, we went to American Diner. Sure the food isn't "upscale" and hoity toity, like the Haven, but it is a very welcome deviation from the rather uninspired lunch menu the Haven has. It's the only menu that I wish would change. In November, since we were on Pr1ma, we missed American Diner as there isn't one onboard. No other specialty restaurant was offered. I guess that was preparing us for the American Diner menu change! I'm glad there are others out there that don't enjoy the Haven's lunch.
  3. Oh my! The office A/C went out last week during the northeast's "heat wave." I kind of laughed given I've experienced much higher than 95 degree temps while out west. Keeping the blinds down, the lights out, and fans on kept me going through the day. As soon as temps went back down to the 70's, the A/C suddenly decided to work (not that I'm complaining). Then, Monday, our power went out for a few hours while the dogs were home alone. Thankfully it wasn't too hot, but we've had it all in the last week! Here's to better power for us all and A/C that is working! Drink lots and eat some salty yumminess!
  4. I'm fat, ergo I'm diabetic. I have no clue what INR is, but if you're talking about the little tiny stabby things you prickly your finger with, you'll have no issue. To attempt to control my type 2 (totally my fault diabetes) I am prescribed Trulicity which is basically the size of an Epi Pen. I bring it onboard and just store it in the mini fridge which is not a medical fridge, nor does it keep it as cold as a home fridge. I've never filled out any paperwork, though I think my husband told our Personal Cruise Consultant as our reservation always lists sharps container. I believe every room has a sharps container anyway. So, I haven't had any issue with either puncture my skin needle (lancet or actual needle). Have a great cruise and hopefully you control your sugar unlike this fat hippo of a man that I am! I do need to work on that as I'd like to see 80. Yall, no advice on health is needed. It's not hard to control your sugar. Well, it's hard, but a simpleton could do it with willpower.
  5. I just looked at pricing for this. Wow! Maybe we should cancel our February cruise and do this one. It would actually be cheaper and three more days! I'm thinking I won't convince my better half to do this, but gosh that's tempting. Thanks for giving me some research to do. EDIT: Not cheaper, but same price.
  6. I think I know what you mean by your question, because when I first started cruising NCL in 2022 I thought the same (if I'm correct). The Open Bar and Shore Excursions are for the entirety of the cruise. If you pay the gratuities for the Open Bar, as part of Free at Sea, you'll receive included drinks, up to $15 for the entire cruise. Water is not included. Fancified Starbucks coffee is not included. And there are some other items not included, but soda and alcohol are. For shore excursions, the person listed as Guest 1, will receive a $50 credit toward any excursion booked (multiple excursions may be booked in one port so long as the time doesn't overlap). Guest 2 receives nothing. For specialty dining, this will depend on the length of your cruise and the stateroom category booked. Most people will receive two specialty dining credits for Guest 1 and Guest 2. Here's a chart to show you the details: Source: https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions For WiFi, you'll receive a set number of minutes, per Guest 1 and Guest 2, depending on the length of your sailing: Source: https://www.ncl.com/about/terms-and-conditions/promotions That source I listed above are the terms and conditions for the current Free at Sea offerings. You should read them to determine if Free at Sea makes sense for you. I'd say it does make sense for most cruisers.
  7. As a part of your booking, you probably (but not definitely) have at least one meal at a specialty restaurant included. If you accepted the Free at Sea offers, then you would. Take a look at your booking just to confirm. You're Canadian. That means you're instantly likeable!
  8. You should consider making specialty dining reservations. Since this is your first time on Norwegian, and you are probably not staying in a suite, you'll be able to make reservations at 120 days prior to your cruise (same day as final payment date). We often switch our specialty dining reservations throughout the cruise and have never had an issue. Some cruisers maintain reservations are extremely hard to come by, so take your pick. It seems that there are reservations held back for embarkation day, so you can find the restaurant reservation location onboard and make reservations for specialty dining. If you are a group of less than 12, you will be unable to make reservations in the main dining room. Just go when you want, grab a pager, and wait for a table to become available. If you go at 6:30 PM, expect a long wait. If you go at 5:30, restaurant opening, probably a short wait. You can let the host at the main dining room know you would like a shared table. You might get one. You might not. We Norwegian seamen do not always like sharing our table, so you may not have anyone else sitting with you. You can request the same server when you get to the dining room, but they may be off, on a break, in a different restaurant, etc. There will never be a guarantee you'll get the same server each evening. Some shows you are able to reserve 21 days in advance of your sailing. Other shows aren't able to be reserved until you get onboard. And, other shows don't take reservations at all. Have fun on your first Norwegian cruise!!
  9. I feel like that would be a NOT good title. I prefer lowly peon that scurries about, sight unseen.
  10. It should work for anyone without requiring a sign-in. It's not, but it should! It's easy to add names of folks though. Also, agree with @graphicguy. Speedy recovery!! We need to hear all about the food, and how lovely it is, on your Cunard cruise. I'm hoping for more than soup recs. 🙂
  11. I will absolutely adhere to the group's wishes that the Meet & Greet, Meet & Mingle, whatever it's called not be cross posted elsewhere. In the past I have cross posted and expect to in the future, but will lay off the posting button for this cruise. I know this is a strong feeling amongst several and this is a slightly different cruise given it being planned two years in advance on Cruise Critic. As an American historical figure stated, regarding a nomination to serve: “I hereby state, and mean all that I say, that I never have been and never will be a candidate for Cruise Critic Meet & Greet extraordinaire; that if nominated by either cruising party or NCL, I should peremptorily decline; and even if unanimously elected I should retreat to my stateroom to drink.” Thanks, Cump, for them thar words of eloquence that I only slightly modified.
  12. I'm just gonna say it. If you want cruiseny's husband onboard to hear about the real me, it's gotta be NCL. If not, then it can be anywhere else. You'll find us high and haughty in the rafters of the Haven (not really high or haughty - I hope).
