  1. Saw that Tony from La Lido Loca on YouTube announced that the third Prima Class ship was going to be delayed. He mentions it at the 3:30 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtSQPvT_k-c This confirms the rhetoric that I received at the Future Cruise Desk on the Prima last week when I inquired if anybody had heard anything about when it would start and from which embarkation port. At the formal presentation in the theater, the slide that pictured future ships had about a two second glimpse on the big screen. The marketing people were promoting the various new ports that the older ships were going to be now going to in various ports around the world and no mention was made at all about the new ships in the pipeline. Since the Prima will be in Galveston and the Viva will be in San Juan, one will have to assume that the third ship will more than likely be based out of Miami or Port Canaveral.
  2. Tom....weren't you supposed to sail on the Prima in Feb or March?
  3. Once the Jubilee comes to Galveston next year you'll be able to eat at Cucina, Chibang and the Pig n Anchor for free, similar to how it's done on the Mardi Gras and Celebration.
  4. Just wanted to give an update regarding the Haven people getting led into the venues prior to those standing in line while escorted by their concierge. This did happen in the Prima theater prior to the Noise Boys show, but thankfully did NOT happen prior to the Rumours show at Syd's. Those patrons that waited outside Syd's for an hour or more before the show were let in about 600 pm for the 700 show. The show was fantastic. Unfortunately there were only two showings over the course of the 11 days and the prom show was cancelled as well. The singer in the band who portrays Stevie Nicks was unable to perform so the shows got switched to nights 10 and 11. The show on night 11 also got cancelled because of a music oriented show that replaced Press Your Luck in the main theater that the drummer, keyboardist and one of the guitar players were needed for.
  5. Not all of the HC rooms are by the elevator. We were on deck 11 right in the middle of the ship in an inside HC room # 11773.
  6. The Prima doesn't even have a single piano yet alone dueling ones.
  7. You can also wear shorts if so desired. The only place that long pants are required for men is Le Bistro.
  8. HUDSONS by a landslide. The Food Hall is just OK for lunch, substantially better at dinner. Most people will be creatures of habit and go to the small buffet or go to the new food hall. Both of those options are open every day. But Hudsons is only open on embarkation and sea days, so that is the best bet on those days. But before you eat lunch make sure that your entertainment and specialty dining reservations are booked first.
  9. Have enjoyed the majority of the comedians I've seen on Carnival over the 35+ years I have been cruising with them. There is the occasional clunker, but luckily far and few between. Since the comedy shows usually have long wait lines the fact that there were so many options on the Excel Class was a good thing for those cruisers that appreciate comedy. And three different venues helped as well.
  10. Two different animals. Crown is Canadian blended whiskey, while Woodford Reserve is bourbon. It's comparing an orange to a tangerine.
  11. You lived up to your handle with that post.
  12. Invest in the Vibe. Best bar on board, padded loungers always available, two large hot tubs to relax in and kid free.
  13. You're entitled to your opinion, but the mixologists at all of the Alchemy Bars in the fleet have the experience and capabilities to go off the menu and concoct something nice. The drinks at the Fortune Teller were more for show than substance and the offerings at Brass Magnolia were not worth more than the occasional change from Alchemy. By Bourbon Bar, I will infer you're referring to the Pig and Anchor.
  14. The MG actually has three different comedy locations. One is located behind the Alchemy Bar on deck 7 and is where the family shows are done. The adult shows are on deck 6 around the corner from the Piano Bar. The third is the late night 1130 pm shows in the big theater multiple nights per week. The MG had about 40 shows over the course of the week.
  15. Sedate and calm do not seem to be words to describe the 17 ships that are larger than the Vista Class of Carnival that are in Royal's fleet. In both fleets sedate and calm are the 14+ day cruises that partiers and families stay away from.
  16. But we do know that the price will be going up to 48 from 42 after it was 35 not too long ago.
  17. The people on the other side of the bar at Alchemy are mixologists that have the wherewithal to concoct drinks off menu. Most of the other bars on board have bartenders that tend to stick with the standard menu that their bar provides.
  18. With a substantially larger foot print on the other side of the pond and financially deeper pockets with the backing of their parent company and their cargo shipping money.
  19. If you want more port days you need to cruise out of San Juan where you can visit 5 or 6 ports in a week. But you need to cruise on those lines that offer it.
  20. MSC is just now expanding in North America besides just the few ships they had on this side of the pond. They want to increase their market share compared to the big three. MSC does have a good price point with their included easy plus drink package. Check out their Black Friday pricing which is in effect till 11/25.
  21. But the platinum benefits for the most part are worthless. But they have reinstituted the priority embarkation perk, which is the best one, IMHO.
  22. You had to wave your hand over the sensor once the automated door closed behind you. If the color went from green to red, it was then locked. If people did not do this, then someone could accidentally walk in on them. It was a matter of being educated, similar to the smart elevators on the Vista Class.
