  1. The official name is Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station. So yeah, Penn Station it is for me. Also no Cuomo bridge for me either.
  2. ❤️ I miss my old home. Although I avoid Charlotte Amalie at all costs on cruise ship days 😛
  3. Right? Some of you all have never traveled with Clemson fans on road games and it shows.
  4. I chuckled at the title The $2.00 Saga. Then I read the thread. Things you didn't know when you joined CC: $2 bills are a hot topic. Got it.
  5. It better to travel with your passports though. You get through immigration on the way back a little faster (they often ask more questions to those who only have birth certificates). It's easier to fly back to the US if you happen to be somewhere other than PR/USVI. It's just a better way to travel in general. Then again, I do not understand people who try to avoid carrying a passport when traveling. I've traveled the world. I use to sail between the USVI and the BVI almost daily and prove of citizenship. I always had my passport (and passport card) on me, even though I could have just used my BC. Sure it's a little bulkier than a DL, but I still manage to keep them secure.
  6. An uninformed agent I would imagine. You need them for other islands and I think they lump the USVI and PR in together with those islands requirements. I use to live down there and would hear that from agents every now and then from all carriers.
  7. I was maybe in my 20's before I realized people didn't have "parties" with drinking and such at a funeral. I was in my teens before I realized kegerators were not in most people's homes. While we didn't have one, quite a few of my aunts/uncles and cousins did. I just thought we didn't have one because my parents didn't drink much beer and they all did.🤷‍♀️
  8. Ha, I could see me being that way. I tend to like the cheaper bottle waters (Poland Spring, Costco brand) Maybe because they taste more tap like?? Who knows. I can't stand Evian. Not really fan of any alkaline bottles of water. Not a fan of Smart Water or Fiji either, but will drink them. I had can water not too long ago, gross.
  9. Pretty much the marketing department sells the dream and operations live the nightmare. Adding 6+ bottles of water PER CABIN is a LOT of water and I wouldn't be surprised if it could have doubled their typical allotment, which adds more stress for the back of the house people to implement the promotion. (i.e. storage, delivery, etc.) It's causes a lot of waste also. When it comes to "free" anything, people often just open up a bottle, take a few sips, put it down somewhere, forget it. Open up another, rinse and repeat. If you buy the water you are more likely to hold on to it longer. We booked 12/29 so we didn't get the promotion (we have the plus package so we can get it via that). For the most part I carry my water bottle everywhere and refill as much as I can to avoid bottles. You are correct, they caused this confusion and upsetting passengers over... water! on another note: why do you not like Flow water? I HATE Evian, is it more like that?
  10. I just showed my husband the picture of the zucchini. His first response was "nice pans". 🤣
  11. I agree. It's a choice. I personally would never pay that much for steak at a Ramsey restaurant, but in the summer we happily spend that much (or more per person) at Le Bernardin (NYC restaurant). Everyone has different things they find value. You do you (and do research so you are not surprised when the bill comes! That said, I would definitely be calling out the F&B manager on the 3 zucchinis slices. Not even 3 zucchinis, 3 zucchini SLICES. Hubby is a chef and calculates food cost all the time, we "get" inflated prices, but that was beyond ridiculous.
  12. Hubby want's to know what bar he can get this at next month 🙂
  13. Yes, we did just last week. We didn't use a TA, but PCC (a very bad one who mislead us so bad we demanded they listen to the recordings of our conversation to get what we want, but I digress). We wanted to upgrade to Haven, as saw some opening on the website, but when we called it wasn't available anymore, but of course more expensive ones were. Then later that day the less expensive one was still able to be booked. We eventually upgraded. Honestly, it's left a bad taste in our mouth. It's my husband's first cruise and my first one in decades (non on NCL).
  14. Us too! It's our first cruise with NCL (husband's first cruise ever) and I want to learn all I can about the ship and "NCL secrets" , even if it's not the exact itinerary.
  15. You do you! We did the math on land and decide to take the package so we didn't have to do math at sea. Calculating drink price + 20% x how many drinks we each have =/= a good time to us. If you don't think it's a value, don't get it. Simple.
  16. I requested 2 spa services via the Haven concierge just this afternoon for my upcoming cruise next month (we just booked the cruise).
  17. It was very helpful. Gives me a rough ideal of what to except. Funny enough, my husband wears a t-shirt under his chef jacket everyday. Outside of that you will only see him in a t-shirt in public at the pool. Otherwise it's always button-downs. But, you will never get him in a tie (not even for our wedding) and a jacket is reserved for weddings only (but again, not our own 😛)
  18. @cruiseny4life we are sailing on Feb 18th. I have no concept of what the weather (temp) will be throughout the trip in order to pack. Obviously the weather is the weather, and we just had a 57 degree here in long island so it's a crap shoot. Of course, some people run hot others cold, but in general what type of clothes should I be thinking about for the trip? (not formal/ casual wise, dressing for the weather wise) Thank you again for your assistance.
  19. I think comparing the cost of a bottle of liquor in a store to the per glass on a cruise/restaurant like comparing apples and oranges. The cruise ships/restaurants/etc pay purchasers to purchase the item, staff delivery, load and store it on the ship. Staff to restock the individual bars. Pay bartenders, barbacks, dishwashers. The mixers, fruits, paper umbrellas, the froze drink machines, the blenders, etc. Buy glassware (and replace because of breakage). pay and maintain for dish machines (soap, water, etc.). Maintain refrigeration & ice machines (not only parts for the machines but the maintenance staff). Even making ice comes at a cost. The cost of a drink is more than just the wholesale cost of the bottle, it's for all the stuff in the background you do not see. Plus a extra to make a profit, because, it's a business. If you do not find value in the cost, don't buy it. Enough people do not purchase they will adjust their prices accordingly.
  20. This! My husband had gastric sleeve surgery. He physically can not eat a lot of food at one sitting. He would be a 2-0-0-0 person. Maybe a 0-0-1-0 person. I would be more of a 1-0-1-0 or 0-1-1-0 person. Occasionally adding a dessert, but rarely and it's shared (we get our sweet tooth a few hours later.) I get the need to dial back, food costs are out of control. But this isn't the right way, they need to be a little more flexible in the offerings.
  21. I use to live in the islands (USVI), worked on snorkel boats and occasionally dealt with cruise ships and here is my opinion. If the snorkel trip is first, then it maybe possible. Boats run on tight schedules as they often have another trip afterwards, so they rarely run late. Depending on the pickup location of city tour is in the general location of the snorkel trip location it could work. City tours try to run on tight schedules also, but traffic and people not returning on time comes into play, so they are more likely to run late. I would not risk it if the city tour is first. Not sure about this location, but in the USVI it wasn't difficult to find a last minute city tour. (just make sure you allow time to make it back to the ship.) It "*might* be possible if both pickups/dropoffs are at the same dock, but that is a huge IF. No way I would book excursions with that short of a time window.
  22. As someone who works in the restaurant industry and has a husband who is a chef, I have no idea. It drives me crazy. I love tuna tartare, but do not eat shellfish. So while I would find something to eat, I hate seeing a lack of variety in each course. Can they throw on a brie en croute, burrata or mozzarella, Brussel sprout dish, braised short ribs. SOMETHING other than just seafood? It's not that hard.
  23. His regulars are Makers Mark and Bulliet, Splurges are Blantons, Woodford Reserve and others I can't remember. Food - It's very subjective. While my husband is an amazing chef (might be bias here) and cooks/has cooked for high profile a people around the country (and 2 islands), he has simple tastes himself. His favorite meal is pizza 😛 He HATES buffets. Not a fan of steaks (although I am, so he takes one for the team and orders fish or pasta 🙂. He had gastric sleeve surgery so he can't eat much at a seating anyway. He will be more of a grazer. He is interested in the noodle bar (after I showed him your pics), Ocean Blue (loves seafood), and likes sushi. Enjoy your last night!
