  1. We wouldn't take much wooing let me tell you.🤣
  2. Yep, we're passionate about hating Carnival! 😆 I don't know what it would take to get me on board. Probably a free suite with everything thrown in - like that's going to happen. Still, to quote the James Bond title 'Never Say Never'.🙄
  3. I agree, Geoff. It would appear that there are a lot of P&O cruisers who are less than enamored with Carnival and who are actively looking at other brands.
  4. Would be very interested to hear your impressions of your cruise when you get back, Sparky. We haven't been on Encounter for over 12 months, though we are booked on her in December. Particularly of interest will be IS the Waterfront open for lunch on barking day?!! We want to avoid the Pantry at all costs (including going hungry 🤣). Happy Anniversary, BTW.
  5. I really do mourn the demise of the 'upgrade fairy' whereby a lucky few got a free upgrade, none of this bidding nonsense. Not that we've ever been showered with fairy dust, but it would have been a nice bonus.
  6. I have a VERY vague recollection of choccies on the pillow on Pacific Dawn in 2016, but don't recall receiving them since.
  7. Not just cruise ships either. At any resort there's a good chance you'll encounter all of the above.🤭
  8. Mmmm ..... I'm sure I read somewhere that the Waterfront on Encounter is open on embarkation day for lunch. Unfortunately I can't find/remember where I read it. We'll find out in December when we cruise out of Brisbane. Definitely won't be braving the trough... er ..... Pantry. I'd rather buy a snack at the cafe or just settle for a substantial breakfast and hold out until dinner.
  9. Yes, we are well aware that P&O Australia was under the Carnival umbrella, but it has/had it's own identity and history and a totally different flavour to Carnival ships.
  10. Quite possibly there is a fair percentage of bogans.............. We tend not to hang out on the Lido deck or the onboard pub so we are probably avoiding the majority.
  11. I should imagine the main dining room will be open 12-2pm. I know it is on Pacific Encounter
  12. That about sums up the advertising industry ethos😒
  13. The spin doctors made themselves dizzy🙄
  14. I'd be flat out fitting one of the tenders in my backyard!!!
  15. I suppose poor Dora might have a last minute reprieve. Pacific Dawn had a very narrow squeak before Ambassador picked her up. Only time will tell. After all this time it still seems a shame we our losing our home grown cruise line. P&O might not have been everyone's cup of tea, but an awful lot of people cut their cruising teeth on P&O ships and it's sad to lose a part of our history.
  16. Darren could try charging, but I'd just hand him an invoice for our next cruise.😂
  17. Slightly off topic ............... Hubby must be feeling a bit of nostalgia with P&O going down the gurgler. He dug out the P&O cookbook we bought on a cruise back in 2016 and got busy in the kitchen this morning making Eggs Florentine. Absolutely superb. Definitely up to the standard in Angelos. Pay in the Waterfront? Nah, I'll just send him back to the kitchen.😂
  18. Yes, I think Princess will be our 'go to'. Not a fan of Carnival.
  19. Love the Bonded Store! Is John still behind the bar? He's a gem. Can't quite make it out, so could you please confirm that the gin martini is $20?
  20. Actual cruise may not have changed, but it will be interesting to see what is different under the Carnival banner.
  21. It's my birthday cruise too (birthday month, actually, as my actual birthday is before we embark). We're doing the Islands on Encounter.
