  1. Wishing you all the very best for a quick recovery, Mic. A day at a time with an awesome cruise at the end of it?🙂
  2. How wonderful, Julie!!!! It's great to hear of someone having a win!!! Good on you. Hope you have an awesome cruise!
  3. Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Cairns is awesome. Fantastic views.
  4. We, too, still enjoy P&O. OK, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles associated with other lines with whom we have sailed but for an economic cruise it is still value for money. We have never had a bad cruise with P&O and find we can afford to book a mini suite without breaking the bank.
  5. That and a lot of ships were scrapped due to the pandemic, including a few who weren't that old.
  6. Thanks, Cruiser. Looks like my favourite bevy will be covered by the Premium drinks package. One never knows with P&O!!!!!!!!!!🙄
  7. I always feel sad when formerly much loved ships end up at the wreckers (inevitable as that may be). There's something sobering about seeing photos of partially demolished cruise ships, particularly ones with which I am familiar.🥺
  8. Just wondering if anyone knows the current price of a dry martini (gin based) on P&O Australia? Meant to take note on Encounter last year and obviously didn't.☹️🍸🥴
  9. Yes, that movie is mentioned in the book set on Tanna
  10. Couldn't agree more, John. Been there, done that mega ship-wise and absolutely prefer the smaller ships. I'm really not interested in a floating fun park.
  11. I'm sure it was an informative post anyway, John.🙂
  12. Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Monkey?..............
  13. Cruise wharf would be great. Just slightly off topic............. If anyone likes murder mysteries, Matt Francis (Australian author) has written two books so far in the series Murder in the Pacific set in Vanuatu featuring police sergeant George Long (half Chinese, half Ni Vanuatu). The first, Ifira Point is set in Vila and the second, Mt Yasur, is set on Tanna. They're a light, engaging read with plenty of local colour and insights into local customs. I'm impatiently waiting for Matt to produce the third book.
  14. I think Alfie is landbased these days. Pity, I enjoyed his videos
  15. I think it's a 'no no'. This is directly off the RCI website FAQ:
  16. Depends on how long it takes to get through the embarkation process. We usually have a really big breakfast, just in case.🙂 Last cruise we didn't bother with lunch on board, just opted for early dinner.
  17. In our experience, your steward will leave a form in your cabin the night before where you fill in which canapes you would like and at what time (usually evening slots) and they are delivered to your cabin around your chosen time. On our cruise it was from the second night. Don't panic if you happen not to be in your room at the appointed time, the canapes will be left in your room. Just ask your steward about it when you board the ship and you can confirm the foregoing.
  18. Please come back after your cruise and let us know what you thought of the MA mini suite (a couple of photos of the cabin would be appreciated if you can manage it!). I hope you thoroughly enjoy your cruise.
  19. Obviously I have no specific knowledge of the multi trip travel insurance you already have, but is it possible to contact the insurance company and add cruise coverage to the policy?
  20. I was really happy when I read that Dawnie wasn't going to be scrapped. Of course, she will be eventually, but for now it's great she's still viable.
  21. Had a blonde moment when I saw the photo of Arcadia at BICT. Wait, what? In Brisbane? Then I checked her itinerary - WC. Duh........................🙄
  22. Yes, Mic, I know what you're saying. It's the ship I love, not the current operator. It would definitely be a 'look, but don't touch' situation in my case.
  23. We too have been following Dawnie's (Ambience) new life. We have many fond memories of sailing on her. She was our favourite P&O ship. Just something special about the old girl. Would have loved to have been there to see Ambience sail into Sydney. 🤗
