Yes, open to suites, with lounge chairs available to anyone in a suite. There are 12 cabanas in Loft 19, which can be rented by the day or week (suite guests have first priority). Each day, the staff brings you a bottle of champagne and orange juice - mimosas to start the day or save the champagne for later. Non alcoholic drinks are included, and the Cheers package is honored there. There is bar service all day and they also take your lunch order and bring it to you. Afternoons they bring around frozen treats. Just a wonderful way to spend the day, or the week. We are diamond plus as well, and almost diamond (next year) on Carnival. Really enjoy both lines.

You might want to open up your horizons, as a new Mardi Gras class ship is coming to Galveston. We sailed in the MG and except for some standards like Guy's Burgers (included), Blue Iguana (included), and a massive number of comedy shows, these MG class ships are nothing like Carnival of the past. They not only rival the Oasis class, with the number of restaurants and bars, they surpass them. The Loft 19 area is quiet and beautiful, and includes a private pool and attentive bar service. Of our four cruises so far this year, three were on the MG. The fourth was on a Royal ship, and it was fine (except for the MDR), but nothing game changing.

At tthe sale price, it is well worth it to us. We enjoy the quiet, the service and fantastic lunch.

I think you are going to love it, along with the extra $2500. The reviews on the Panorama have been positive

Do you plan to spend most of your time indoors or out? If indoors at the bars, restaurants, casino, comedy shows, deck 10 is an easy walk down the stairs. If you plan on spending more time on the Lido deck, deck 14 is better. I would stay on 10.

On our past NYE cruises, NYE was "elegant" night, even when it was the boarding day. We are boarding the MG on NYE this year, and I expect it to be "elegant" night.

Sorry about your pony, so sad. Glad you are boarding the MG tomorrow. It is a great ship! We loved Bar Della Rosa (so much easier to get coffee drinks here) and Brass Magnolia (live music and fun drinks). Enjoy - we are going back on MG on NYE!

I agree, and wish it were like Carnival in this instance. On Carnival, you have to earn your own points, period. No sharing.

First, sorry for the loss of your friend. This is a tough one. I would NOT do the online check-in for someone who is deceased, or purchase a Cheers package in his name.

I thought it was more than sharing an address, like you had to be married, a significant other, parent or guardian of a minor, in order to share status.

They have a menu but once they get to know you, they will likely offer to get your lunch from Shaq's or Guy's. We really enjoyed having lunch in our cabana.

I think you could easily give your tickets to your daughter and son-in-law. Basically, anyone with a ticket can go on the excursion unless there are age, weight, height or other restrictions. Should not be a problem.

Agreed. And they do prefer cash tips, for whatever reason. Last cruise I got $100 in one's and made sure to spread them around the ship. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of free drinks, though some went to restaurant servers, cabin steward, porters, etc.

Your PVP would be able to do this, if you have one. If not, since the reservations are linked, maybe you have to option to book and pay for the specialty dinners for all of you in your planner. Here's what we did. Just booked and paid for the two of us, then stopped in Rudi's on the first day and asked them to add two people to the reservation (you need their names and stateroom numbers). Worked out fine for us.

We have done the MG three times this year and truly love the ship. Our last time onboard was mid-September and you could tell they were short on staff. It did not impact us too much as we spent most days in our cabana at Loft 19, then did specialty restaurants four of the seven nights. We tried to do things we missed on the prior two MG cruises, so we did one dinner at Pig and Anchor. While the meat was fine, I didn't particularly like the ambiance so we didn't return (other than for their great Bloody Mary at the bar). For dinner on the MG, I recommend Cucina, Rudi's, the steakhouse and Emerill's. We tried the MDR one night in the past and said never again. We did Sea Day Brunch and they tried to give us an awful table (tiny two top, right by the server station and in the path of everyone entering and exiting). I spoke to a supervisor and asked, why do we always get a terrible table in the MDR? He said well speak to the host, and I told him that I already spoke to the host, who gave us our table assignment. He finally said ok, let me find you a better one. Within five minutes, we were seated in a quiet area with a view of the water. That is one thing I dislike about the app. There is no choice on seating, you sign in and they try to seat you wherever is convenient for them. I would rather wait longer for a table in a good location. With Celebration coming out as the new flagship, two of our next four Carnival cruises are on the Celebration. Many of the great staff formerly on the MG have already been assigned to the Celebration, so I am pretty certain we will enjoy it.
