  1. Ours were NYE, Monday and Thursday, but that was not typical due to the holiday. For some reason, I think they are Monday and Thursday.
  2. Understand why you wouldn’t purchase one, but for us, when in a balcony, they provide a much appreciated respite from the crowds. I like having a dedicated space, service team, and bottle of champagne every morning. And someone to bring me my lunch. For me, having a hot tub on my balcony is not worth $4,000. That’s the great thing about it, we all get to choose how to spend our money, or not. Some are perfectly satisfied to be on a lower deck in an interior cabin. Not for me but good for them.
  3. Going to try the link for our upcoming Celebration cruise in March. We missed having our cabana on the MG NYE cruise.
  4. Some years ago we did early saver on three rooms. Two of those cabins then qualified for casino offers. We ended up with thousand of OBC and had a great cruise.
  5. You need to make sure the grandparents are listed as authorized individuals for the youth. That way they can pick her up from the kids club and she will be allowed to enter and exit the ship with them.
  6. Agree with Sparks but since you need wheelchair assistance at the port for embarkation and maybe for debarkation as well, contact special needs before the cruise. The cruise line needs to know, especially if there is an emergency. Congrats and enjoy your cruise.
  7. We hardly ever do ship sponsored excursions. Just do your research in advance. In Jamaica, if you are a first time visitor, you might want to research group or private tours. We love Jamaica but it is one of the few places I would be more inclined to do a tour rather than hopping into a taxi.
  8. Just off MG today and had an Ocean suite. The first, 9418, was so noisy at night we ended up changing after two nights to 9302. 9302 was much quieter and near the forward elevators. Didn’t mind the awning underneath our balcony but the lack of privacy was very noticeable, especially in 9418. All things being equal, we would pick an extended balcony over the entry level Ocean Suite in the future. The bump out suites look cool and may try one in the future.
  9. I would pick St. Martin over Amber Cove, unless you just want a pool. Amber Cove is nice and easy, but you don’t really get a sense of place there. if you decide on St. Martin, and want to keep it simple, I second the water taxi. Very inexpensive and convenient. And if you don’t find a deal on a beach chaise, just plop in the sand and water for a few hours. We are not early birds and more often than not, someone will gift us their loungers. But we also enjoy walking around the downtown and buying food, drinks, and chocolate. I also love Orient Beach, but doubt I would do that solo.
  10. I agree with the no show advice. We have done it a few times with no issues.

    Bimini Port

We enjoyed Bimini. Nice change from Nassau.
  12. Currently on the MG. I am from Tampa, and to me, this was the first warm day, about 80 and was mostly sunny. Looking forward to more warm weather tomorrow in Grand Turk. Then back to the usual Florida winter, sometimes warm, sometimes cold. So my advice would be to bring a sweatshirt and a light jacket.
  13. Pretty sure we were above Cuchina but the music was coming from the Limelight Lounge. Our next door neighbors heard it too. But the people above us on deck 10 didn’t hear it. It was the balcony topic before we changed rooms. We are now by the forward elevators on deck 9 and it was so peaceful when I got in around 1. Hubby said it was quiet all of the late evening. Sorry about your ankle. Hope it’s not too painful.
  14. You will get them today. We, too, did something yesterday for the first time in all of our cruises. We changed cabins. On such a busy sailing, I was glad there was another cabin to move to. For future MG cruisers, avoid 9418 and surrounding cabins, unless you can deal with thumping bass until 2 a.m.
  15. Too funny. We are the couple in the far right of the first photo. Hubby is in light blue shirt. We really enjoyed Rudi’s- going back tonight. Loving your live. Thanks for doing it.
  16. Happy New Year, Happy Birthday and bon voyage! We are sailing on the Mardi Gras tomorrow and are super excited. Love NYE cruising.
  17. In over 70 cruises, whenever we spoke to the MD, it was always changed. One time we had to wait 24 hours, but other than that, same day change was made. So I think you will be able to switch.
  18. Likely in the steakhouse but not elsewhere on the Mardi Gras.
  19. Sid, Hope you are enjoying your holidays and not spending too much time on those thank you notes. Your reviews are the best and I should be sending you the thank you note!
